Lol. My almost 62-year-old mom likes modern pop, I like classic rock and synthwave. It's like our generations got swapped. The original Roar was a guilty pleasure of mine, but this remix speaks my language.
This was such a big hit with teenage girls back in 1983-84. I was 22, but my sister, who was 15 at the time, loved this song to death. Drove me insane with all the times she played this.
If they did that, the tune would have to fit the original vocals. That would be more challenging. This way, the vocalist can adapt to the new version of the tune.
I kind of like the rawness of the these vocals - no pitch correction, not as polished as the highly produced Katy Perry vocals. Its refreshing to my ears.

I've always liked this aesthetic.. I remember when that "goofy" 80s look of shit was still in style on ads, tv and clothing in the early 90s.. (the early 90s were still kind of the 80s, in my opinion..)
@@JayJay-nc7pr No no...no. I was there and in prime age to remember. 1990s was not very 80s influenced. Year of 1990 was - sure (Taylor Dayne, Phil Collins). And early 90s Euro Dance genre was heavily 80s influenced as well. But already in 1990-1991 there was big changes in music. Roxette, Madonna (new look and music), Metallica, Faith No Nore, Pantera and in 1991-1992 all grunge bands came. Look at how Heavy Metal artists started dressing already in 1991. 80s was already over. Early 90s created peak for divas also (Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston...and later Celine Dion). That was something different from 80s as well. What is 90s is contingent on what you associate with 90s. Earlier Grunge Wave or later Boy Band trend. Personally I associate 90s with the Grunge Wave since its period is confined in the 90s only and clearly defined.
I don't like the newer songs, but I really love this 80s version. I wonder how songs like Despacito would have sounded back then. You just earned yourself another subscriber.

1990-94 was basically an extension of the 80s really ;-) the 90s culturally was 1995-2002 for me
