- Our Favorite Hidden Lunch Spot in Kyushu!
Thanks so much to Bobby Judo for introducing me to this place many years ago! When Tatsu and I moved out of the city and into the countryside, we were at a loss for where to eat on days when we felt like treating ourselves to something nice, but luckily I remembered this precious gem that Bobby recommended to me, and we've been four times since. Haha.
Mitsuse Farm Herb Garden is a perfect stop along the drive between Fukuoka and Saga Prefecture, and the fresh mountain air is soothing on hot summer days. If you're visitng Japan by car, or just looking for a nice place outside of the busy city to relax and enjoy some serenity, this is the place for you!

my japanese friend's mom makes this eggplant tempura "sandwich" with tuna inside it's so good! tatsu talking about eggplant tempura reminded me of that.

That looks amazing! And the price was surprising to me. A comparable spread over here would easily be over 100 bucks. (especially considering the sourcing)

Surprisingly good price, the presentation of the duck was really fine dining like. I think i would pay twice as much for something like that here in the city or in any other major city. Would't expect such food in such a location, shame i would need car, don't like driving on the other side of the road...it's scary :)
OMG THAT ALL LOOKS SOOO GOOD! And I also love the dog friendly status. ^.^ HOLY CRAP!! Ok, $50 or $60, for two people, with that much food, is so cheap in comparison to here in the States. I live in Southern California, and I would be lucky to find that kind of price, for that much food, and that quality. Actually, I don't think I could find that XD I am definitely hitting this place up when I move to Japan!
A soup, burger, fries and 2 beer is $50 in my area. Your lunch looks better.

三瀬鶏なら食べたことがあります。柔らかくってジューシーな鶏肉でした。名古屋コーチンとは、また違った美味しさだったのを覚えています。

Got damn, that's some awesome food. Tatsu is right... eggplant is a wonderful thing, one of my favourites is a Persian dish called Mirza Qasemi, It's a grilled eggplant, and tomato thing which you use pita bread to dip into it and eat. It's so good.

WOW this looks amazing... I've never been a huge fan of vegetables but I feel that it's only because I've never had them done properly, or just not the right ones haha. Never had eggplants for example, but this made me want to try them
+TheJapanCode whaaat! You've never had eggplants! Oh man you're missing out! :) Slices of tomato and eggplant, with drizzled olive oil, a thin layer of tomato sauce, topped with cheese, baked in the oven, makes a great side dish to a main dish :))

I grew up on German cuisine, so presentation is not a major focus for me. It is nice, but I'm more interested in the flavors and textures, and Mitsuse Farm looks like it had that in spades.

You wouldn't be. Fukuoka is so diverse, I have tons of gay friends and they have normal lives here.

Only 50 dollars for all that fresh food!? That's not bad at all. I'm used to running up at 40-50 dollar tab at a family restaurant where half the food comes from a freezer.
