Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

If they'd sent anyone else besides Hank to check out Walt's inventory he definitely would've been seen as suspicious.
Hank probably reassured his colleagues about Walt by telling them to trust him and that he would help them in the investigation. It sounds bad but having a brother-in-law in the DEA is probably what allowed Walt to stay out of range for so long

Vince did such a good job not only portraying what kind of person Walt is/was but also how other people (especially Hank) treat him. Like all the fingers pointing at Walt and Hank wouldn't even consider him as a suspect for a second. Not only is he just not that kind of person, he is totally and completely incapable of pulling off these sort of crimes...except he isn't.
Right. Walt even says so later on, that he’s tired of living his life in fear and uncertainty. He craved to one day become a living breathing iron fist. It fell into perfect place since his front for hiding was already there for him, quite literally in plain sight, and Hank especially saw him as a man who’s a unassuming friendly high school teacher, never would he have reason to believe a man like Walt would have the will to even slightly step foot into something as dangerous as the drug/cartel world. To Hank, men like Tuco and the Salamancas were the only ones willing to live that lifestyle. Nasty psychotic vicious narcissists. No way would Walt be that type of man. No way would Walt have reason to be involved with even just a small scale criminal act, let alone successfully run an illegal drug organization. Walt was an extremely intelligent man, not just in science, but he just didn’t fully grasp and utilize it to his advantage until that lung cancer diagnosis.

1:20 man, this information leads to Better Call Saul S05E03 where Domingo (Krazy8) agrees on being a ''CI'' for Hank and Steve. At the same time Saul gets the recognition on the streets for getting Krazy8 free and Lalo keeps trying to affect Gus.
If Hank had even the smallest amount of respect for Walter , he would have caught him instantly
I think it's the other way around. He didn't think Walt was capable because he respected him and didn't think he'd sink so low.
he did have respect as a working family man and teacher basic human decency respect but thats not the kinda respect he wanted he wanted that money power and status respect from hank

It would have been so easy for him to alter the inventory list, or at least say they broke and he never got around to replace them when asked about the missing flasks.
He hadn’t yet learned the skill of lying convincingly under pressure.
This might've been the most obvious evidence in the show before Gale's book.
No damage in the school, someone just casually unlocked the door and took things out. Very highly likely it was one of the people with a key, should've kept looking into that aspect.

If this happened in real life the security camera footage of Walt taking the mask would've been pulled out so fast lmao

Assuming a small storeroom next to a science lab even has security cameras in the first place - honestly I'd be surprised. I don't know how different it is in the US, but I work at a high school in Australia and the only place we even have security cameras at all is in the library, and that's only because it was built fairly recently. I can't think of a single other place in the school where we even have cameras.
People have serious hangups about filming/surveilling kids.

I honestly felt bad for Hank throughout this show. He genuinely cared about Walter and was concerned about his diagnosis. He loved Walter's family and tried to do his job the best he could, an endeavor in which he was exceptionally skilled at doing. The problem for him was, he was TOO good at it, and in the end it wound up being his downfall.
I don't think he was good at his job, otherwise he would have found out about Heisenberg way earlier, Walt didn't even do a good job at hiding it.
Hank was an a$$hole whose a$$holery blinded him from what was right in front of him the whole time.

Hank would have suspected Walter right away if Walter dressed himself like Lalo Salamanca, giving off the cartel vibe.
Luckily for Walt and unfortunately for Hank, Walter’s mild-manner made him hide in a plain sight so well, just like Gus Fring.

its so obvious walt is hiding something in this scene but to hank I imagine walt acts like this around him so much he wouldn't even notice a difference, and likely the reason hank went here alone was "hey I know someone who works there, no need to waste anybodies time I'll just walk over and talk to him", remember what jesse says near the end "mr white is smarter than you and he's luckier than you!"

Sure, but it's not like Walt did anything. By having Hank go Walt would be much more comfortable and able to speak freely without a lawyer than some random DEA agent. Furthermore, it was Hank's snitch (Krazy-8) that got murdered so it was Hank's case.

Man you can see it even from the start of the show. Hank making fun of Walt even though he should be a little suspicious of him, because who could EVER suspect this completely inoffensive, pathetic man of being a crime lord? It was always about Walt's pride, from day one.
As smart as Walt is he didn't think to mark some things down as broken and simply order more lol.
I was a student assistant for Chem 1 in high school so I got to help the Chmistry teacher do inventory, took a whole week and doubt you'd just have a sheet on the wall with pieces of glassware on it. Also high school labs usually have lots of little vessels for students to use, they aren't going to have a bunch of big glass pieces, how many reactions with large volumes are you really going to be doing and how much more would that cost to have dozens of sutdents do versus having them do it at a smaller scale? Pretty sure the name of one of my oganic lab experiment books was specifically called "small scale organic experiments" or something like that.

I’m not convinced that Hank didn’t suspect that Walt was “Heisenberg” the whole time, from this very scene on I believe that Hank deep down knew that Walt was Heisenberg, but just didn’t want to believe it because he believes Walt isn’t capable of being a hardened criminal.

Just realized Hank indirectly got Krazy8 killed by revealing he's a snitch to Walt
walter has so much plot armor in this scene. This whole scene should've gave walt away, the way he acts like at 0:58 when hank questions him and he casually looks away trying to not to make eye contact and only looks up when the word snitch is brought up and talks to hank at 0:35 about the gas mask is very suspicious, walt straight up tells hank no when he ask "do you recognize that" that's literally his gas mask that was in his classroom all the equipment that was found came from him and nobody from the DEA suspected him? Even when things start getting weird with walter and skyler why wouldn't a good detective like hank already piece everything together
