  • Launch day is Friday 10th Feb. Delivery might take a few days because Wendy and Loki need to prep 50 x Signature 9 kits on Monday and Tuesday. So dispatch will start around 15th February. Phase 2 (production) launch will be about 3-4 weeks later. I need to get the plate drawings changed - just a couple of very minor adjustments. Overall, looking good. I'm pleased. Callum.

    I‘be been talking to my wife about a HyGain vertical for a permanent base antenna and how my Classic spoils looking at anything else, so when I explained this one to her she suggested a location that would allow a good radial fan out in our yard. If I’m not mistaken, that’s permission. Hopefully it comes with the pole for ground insertion and you still have one to sell me by the time I get done work on Friday.

    I drilled out the DXC Classic plates to 3/8” from the Black Friday Sale. The TriWire works better through the larger hole. My antenna is portable not permanent, so it is required to chamfer as well. Thanks a million for the great product!

    Some slight tuneups on a pre-production model is hardly bad news. This is nothing, and if it allows a few extra quid in my pocket when they go on sale, it will just be some extra purchases added from your shop!

  • @seanihde
    @seanihde ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks fantastic. Question - with the 2 ft of exposed sleeve, where will the feed point be? Will it be at 2 ft, or will it slide over the sleeve and lay on the ground? I ask, because I live in Minnesota, and we get some tall snow drifts, and was not wanting the feed point to get buried by snow. Or would the snow not be a factor at the feed point?

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will slide right down over. Don't worry about snow.. Let it get covered. Snow is not conductive, it won't care.

    Cool, wondering if it is worth putting the lying down 12.4 well away from your ground radials, maybe along the fence line? When I was doing some 12.4 experimenting I had a Classic with just 20m on it lay across my ground Radials, fairly close the th pole, like it is in your video and it gave me some wacky tuning results. Of course you may only have the 12.4 lying there for the video so my message is a waste of time 🙂

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty sure that laying on the ground, it should be fine. I will move everything around before finalising cut chart - but I've done this before Chris.

    • @TFuzz58

      I remember Roly in ZL talking about this when he got strange readings while playing with a new antenna. It turned out to be his DXC laying on the ground.

    I currently have the Butternut HV9 and considering changing it out for this Signature 9 to eliminate my guy wires. The butternut works great, but not really tuned well and difficult to get tuned. I know you are a little biased lol, but would your antenna be an upgrade or more of a lateral move? Mainly would the tuning be a little easier than a Butternut? No matter your answer I will more than likely be ordering one :) Thanks and great videos!

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I think it's unfair asking me.. Look, you are getting a pure set of quarterwaves. So what ever that does vs Butternut. You SHOULD get a no ATU system and easy to use. CHeap to maintain. Easy on the eye. Maybe ask on the Facebook group - or perhaps the Discord server (discord.io/dxcommander) you might find someone made the same decision and they will have an opinion..?

  • @SDR-DXobserver
    @SDR-DXobserver ปีที่แล้ว

    Callum, in what differs the Signature 9 with the Classic?
    I see that you have made a 160 meters LW with a 64:1 unun for listening with some gain and lower noise floor. For many years, I use a 200 meters BOG for the same goal. I experienced that I had the same wire 3 meters up in the air a few years ago has a better S/N when used as a BOG (on the ground) as it tends to pick less environmental noise. It produces 2 dB less signal compared to the Beverage set-up, both terminated and with a 9:1 unun. A guy I know is developing a very small quality pre-amp to put on the feed point with a static discharge protection. I get a beta model when ready. If you want, I can inform you how things work out in due time.

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What differs: Really its the robustness with ability to have a ground post instead of guys. It's been a dream of mine for a while.

    Would this antenna do OK if it had to be placed sort of up against (but not super close) a house, so that the radials only fanned out from about 180 degrees to 270 degrees instead of 360? I hope that makes sense. Thanks! 73, K8JLW

    just slide the spreaders over the poles as they telescope?

    • @DXCommanderHQ
      @DXCommanderHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Edward, suggest save some pennies and maybe go with Classic with a 43 or 44m tube in the ground.. You will probably find it's about a 5-10-min put-up once you work out how much collapsed you need.
