Some advice for newer players from somebody who is currently climbing through diamond (not the craziest flex I know, but still). You will climb out the lower ranks incredibly easily by simply managing your turbo use properly. You will often see noob players using turbo at terrible times. Any time they see a straight, to quickly catch up, or out of panic because somebody behind them just popped theirs. Do not fall into the trap of thinking of turbo as an easy way to catch up, because it's not. Consider that everyone is roughly going to have the same number of turbos throughout the race. Sure, you can pop yours now and get ahead of that guy in 1st place, but that guy is only going to pop his own at some point and take that lead back. The trick is to use your turbo at moments in the track that will give you the most value. While this varies between maps, a general example I can give is any parts of a track that require lots of airtime (like having to fly across a long gap). Being in the air slows you down quite drastically since your wheels aren't touching the ground and you have no way to gain speed by drifting. The exception to this, however, is turbo. If you turbo across those gaps while other people are wasting theirs on basic straights you are getting way more value out of your turbo than they are. You not only get the speed boost of the turbo, you also DON'T get slowed down by those airborne segments while everyone else does. Double value. Another small tip is that you can straighten your car out of a drift instantly by simply tapping the rocket drift button in the opposite direction (don't hold the button or else you will go into a full drift in the opposite direction instead). This sounds simple (and is) but will also give you a huge advantage over other players in lower ranks.
Danny I’ve been a fan of You and Leth for a long time and I love the content you make with him and this rocket racing content. I’m now diamond 2 and have used much of what you have taught me to get here.
For chain drifts i like to actually hold the drift button and point the other direction, it always works, drift normally-then point to opposite direction while u hold rocket drift. Also something cool to mention for beginners is to learn how to drive while u on the cieling and manage to be able to control ur car cuz like that on begginer maps u can actually take upside down routes that the other beginners wont making the path clean for u to avoid other players destroying ur game. And another thing to mention that is a super useful trick specially in maps like Riviera and Dust up 2 is to use the checkpoint rings to actually lounch ur car into it with an air dodge making u take the tightest turn possible( and im fully aware these maps are expert level but the thing is even tho i am on Diamond 2 i am still getting matched with Silver 1 ppl on expert maps and it always ends up horribly for them so u might run into those maps if u unlucky).
I would ad a reminder that going upside down inverts controls and to remember/practice this. Especially on the more advanced courses going upside down will be quite common.

Correction, ive experimented a bit and you have to hold the hand brake just before turning to the other side if you want to cleanly transition a drift, for straighten the car fast you have to turn to the other side then press the handbrake again

I've learned: the game is too glitchy/unpredictable to be truly skill based competitive, the physics/air control is clunky, your skill level can be totally negated by some noob that slams into you OR by an unpredictable demo. So in fairness it's def in the same veign as the old RL.

Hey I've ran across in in games a few times, I just wanted to add to the part where you mention holding drift while in the air to maintain it. While in a drift, you can press and hold the drift button to straighten your car out right when you go airborne. You're able to fly normally and pitch your car up and down, but the animation doesn't show. It's difficult on the timing, but I found it useful in certain applications where you want to spread out the times you activate your drift boost.
in a full race as long as you place 7th or higher you will get some xp. top 4 get more. don't quit a difficult track because you don't know it, you may just get xp anyways
YO top 100 unreal player here, u talked about S-drifting briefly where people chain drift in an S shape along a Straight. It’s a pretty important skill to learn and it does take some practice, it’s faster along the straights I believe and it’s great for building up boost, especially important on the ‘easier’ tracks.
@@PDX-Red it’s weird tho, the rule doesn’t apply in lobbies with less players, for example I’ve placed 4th in a lobby of 7 and lost points but I’ve also been first in a lobby of 4 and got next to nothing in terms of ranking up, the whole system seems a little broken

( Ill post this every vid lol), I think id be nice to collaborate and try to host new ideas with many, like the TH-cam I mentions to make new things!

Hey Danny, not really a big deal for beginners but I would recommend unbinding drift and flip to different buttons. This will allow you to hold your drift while jumping and flip all while maintaining the boost you had built up from your drift. Love the channel btw, hoping to grow like you have too.
@@Zel-Veraan L1 would be to open the lobby board. I put drift on RB as that's where I have boost in Rocket League and kept X as my flip, I play on an XBOX controller. As I was already used to pressing RB it feels quite comfortable.
It’s impossible to get to unreal/rank up now because they made the rank more tedious and when I place 1st, I only get 4% rank and to be honest, it doesn’t feel like I was rewarded anything and it felt like I was in 6th
This might be controversial, but if you are anywhere from 8th-12th and know there is no way for you to get higher, quit the match before the finish line. This way, you won't lose any rank % (for the time being) it works well in Diamond since its so hard to get rank up %.
I'm not playing yet because my PC is broken for almost half an year but i liked your tips, i didn't know that holding the drifting button while jumping would keep the bar going. I hope your channel grows bigger and bigger, you are doing an excellent job! Congratulations!

if you keep your drift going while you jump you can take a shortcut never before seen on the anaconda map, im sure you can look up a video, its very op

Try pressing the handbrake again, ive done it and sometimes it ends the drift
