Honestly, you're better than me lmaoo I think I would've left after an hour 😭 but don't worry we all have those days where we just don't get as much done as we wanted to. I felt it just this past month trying to get the entirety of pg 10 out before the end of the year and it was genuinely difficult to pull myself together. Eventually snipping it in half was the best choice for me to make mentally, because now I feel so relaxed working on it rather than stressed out. I'm just impressed that you took notes because I think just like you I like to more or less listen as if it's a podcast and just let the words wash over me, but note-taking is honestly the best idea to it more drilled into your head. I may have to start doing that as well. And honestly!! I love hearing you talk about your method, how you got to point A to B, and just generally letting us know how it's going which is basically what a log is lol but it's so nice!! Feels way less isolating at times, especially the kinda harsh reality that sometimes you won't even meet your goal. So I really thank you for opening up to that instead of just saying all the positives, because being a webcomic creator can be TOUGH! Especially when you give so much of yourself to it and knowing that no one will love your comic more than you. It can be very hard to share those struggles, but I'm very glad you do so thank you for that
lolol I was really trying to hang in there! And nice executive decision making on snipping the page in half rather than just toiling away at it until you eventually possibly grew to hate it. It can be hard to admit to yourself that you bit off more than you could chew in this one particular scenario but sometimes you gotta bite the bullet. It's like trying to do work while you're tired. You'll waste more time trying to concentrate while awake than just taking an hour or so nap as a refresh XD And omg i'm glad you also have that "just let the words wash over you" mentality. Cause i was really sitting here taking notes like "how have I been watching videos this whole time???" And that's exactly it. They've just been white noise haha THANKS!! Honestly i'm the sort of person who likes to lead by example rather than getting in there and telling people this is what they should or shouldn't be doing. So doing these logs and talking about my ups and downs and failures and successes as an artist feels very much at home, and i'm so happy you're enjoying them so far ;;A;; It's important for me not to just capture the destination, but the journey too. Cause the journey is what we grow from haha The destination is just the starting point for new growth. That's an excellent point, cause honestly?? I also think about my kid self and how she was struggling just to put a sketchdump together back in the day. Like I was really out here asking the girls for advice on how to make a good looking collection of WIPS and now i'm making VISUAL NARRATIVES. Full, long pages of FINISHED DRAWINGS that are attached by an over arching story?? Wild. It's crazy to think about how your relationship with the craft has changed now that you're steeped in it. And idk about you, but it almost seemed to happen overnight?? Like sure I might've been planning Leftovers for a few months before starting but it still felt like before I knew it I was deep into a series. Like how people don't necessarily plan to be parents. They might know they have a kid coming and make the necessary preparations, but before they know it they've blinked and raised another human being. You're so right, it does feel like alot of people look down on fancomics sometiems. Fanworks as a whole, really. Despite the fact that almost all of us started here. And it's sometimes easy to feel like your work is less important because it's "just a _____ comic", but art is appropriation, really. Whether you're appropriating materials or themes or somebody else's work. It's all about what you do with it and where you go from there. God I feel like i'm very "sayings" heavy in this response LOL ALSO FJADLS;FJDLS;FJ OMG THANKS!! IM HONORED?? Likewise, i'm also grateful i'm on this side of the internet with ya'll! We know how to party respectfully and have good, introspective conversations ;;U;; I'm definitely excited to get more logs out!
