I didn't know the rebuilds auto-stopped until I had one in training. All I have to say is: You'd better be up in the cab at least 5 minutes before departure if you've got a rebuild so you aren't firing it up at the last second!
You are braver than me and it looks like you have much more luck getting video. You are also very correct about acting with restraint. I've seen foamer's who act suicidal.

I thought metra’s f40’s used an HEP from their prime mover. Unless the rebuilds have HEP buttons
