    Very helpful! Don't think I've seen a PSA about this before; just mentions in various places to avoid downed power lines and confirmation of this in the movie The Ice Storm.

    Not bad but DON'T spread your arms like this, you will touch the door frame by accident. Sit with both feet on the door frame, make sure your head is outside the car, open door wide, jump both feet as same time away from any car part and when you land, make sure you don't list back and touch the car by accident. Once out, don't touch anything on car or inside the car. If you have kids dogs or a baby make them exit this way before you exit yourself, move to their place and have them exit carefully without touching them while they exit. And don't jump into a water puddle, the water may splash the car

    But this happened in an ice storm so therefore you jump out of the car you slip instantly onto the ground your dead if you jump out of the car when it’s icy and slippery you’re better off staying in the car and hoping your car don’t start on fire I’m sure you will be OK

    If there was say a puddle at the door or it was raining out, would it still be safe to jump out and shuffle? or would that be suicide?

    • @ExperimentalFun
      @ExperimentalFun 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The lines might not even have power for all you know, Either way you won't know if its safe or not, but if your cars on fire then I wouldn't stick around.

    • @charlessmith263
      @charlessmith263 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@ExperimentalFun Assume the lines are energized whether it is raining or not, so whether or not it rains, still jump out but NEVER JUMP AND LAND WITH ANY PART OF THE BODY ON THE VEHICLE AFTER THE LAND - AT ALL! Otherwise you will face a touch potential electrocution and you could be dead. Land on both feet, and when you land, keep the legs together. Then shuffle until you reach past the 35-feet radius zone where you are in the risk of getting shocked. Once past 35 feet after you shuffle, you can separate feet - BUT NOT UNTIL THEN! Any impatience at that point will get you shocked too.

      @@charlessmith263 what is the science behind keeping the feet together? A little insight would be very interesting.

    • @JpForrReal
      @JpForrReal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@hadi174 When power lines are downed and live wires touch the ground, electricity is sent through the ground in every direction and the voltage decreases the further away you are. By taking a significant step, your back foot will have a higher voltage than your front foot. Currents travel from high to low voltage through the path of least resistance. Since humans are good conductors of electricity, this means that you are the path of least resistance and that spells bad news. Taking a significant step, you will complete a circuit with a terrifyingly large voltage and you will likely die. Shuffling keeps your feet at similar voltages and until you can reach a safe distance.

    Are there anyone actually survived by jumping out of the car and shuffle their feet to get away from the site? Or is it just a theory that no one has ever tested to make people less panic and try to get themselves killed for big corps to take advantage when it comes to a some kind of insurance claim?
