    It is no wonder you get such long life from the equipment your crew uses. You are in there taking care of all of it. That must be a real time consuming job, as y'all use so much big machinery. But then they cost a good deal so the smart man that you are, takes extremely good care of all of it. One can certainly say you are not afraid of hard work and no task is too tedius. I stand impressed!

    Tom have you tried using a pneumatic needle scaler to get the concrete off of the areas you need to work on? I'm sure you'd kill the needles faster than on welding slag but I bet it would be a ton faster and easier than a hammer and chisel.

    • @Concretewiththehauses
      @Concretewiththehauses  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hammer and chisel work pretty good it really doesn’t take that long and I can get in those tight places behind the rollers thanks

    I use to work in concrete foundations for traffic signals and a lot of our forms had a lot of dried concrete on them. I started using lime away on the forms and after a couple of times it removed the old concrete and got my forms back to looking and functioning like new.

    Hey there Tom, great video doing maintenance on the equipment. I’ve been an old time maintenance guy myself but I saw a video on making a oil suction device that’s fits on my shop vac. Makes changing oil a lot more convenient, especially on my lawn mower. I getting too old to lift my mower and it hot when I change the oil. I saw the design on a you tube channel. It was Chris Notap you tube channel changing lawn mower oil. Thanks much for sharing your videos.

    Just an idea on the undercarriage. Weld a 1” threaded coupling around the grease fitting and add a plug to the end. That way it saves you time on removing bolt and putting in grease fitting.

My elbows hurt just remembering what they felt like after doing 4 or 5 vehicles in an afternoon / evening session out in the shop.

    Hi Tom maybe add a 2 or 3 inch pipe extension to your grease fitting to make it easier to install and remove the grease fitting. You could keep the extension with the grease fitting in your tool box for next time

    Good Morning Tom. Am I missing something obvious, or why can't you just leave the grease zerks permanently installed? They make zerk covers to keep debris out of the fitting. As always a great video.

    I use WD40 to clean the dirt off then I use a White lithium grease or the old style 3&1 oil
    It seems to last longer then other oils. Of course I’m old and 3&1 was the only thing around back in my day.

      @@Concretewiththehauses one of the mechanics I watch, rainman ray says it opens up chances of contamination. You might check out his videos. It has been a while since he explained the reason.

    • @johnthreefifteen
      @johnthreefifteen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Concretewiththehauses I checked on the filter issue and found why it is best to not preload filters. You run a risk of introducing contaminates into the wrong side of the filter media. It is best to filter even new oil before it reaches the engine. Oil pressure will build up quickly even if the oil filter is empty. There is still some lube on the engine parts after the oil pan has been drained so the engine is not damaged. The filter on the 306 is an example of no oil in the filter because the filter is horizontal and all the oil can drain to the oil pan after it sits. I do like that you add a little new oil to flush more of the old oil out before reinstalling the drain plug.
