    Update. Just yesterday the Sportsbike Shop delivered my original jacket back to me with a new waterproof main zip fitted. Looks like new. Really recommended the service of the Sportsbike Shop.
    Rukka kit is expensive but the guarantee is rock solid with peace of mind for many years.

      I'm confused. The jacket is obviously shit, I could buy something from Matalan (I wouldn't), and the zip would be fine. If they can't get the zip to right then how the fuck can you trust this jacket with your life?

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Craig Harrison The jacket was a high use jacket close to the end of a long warranty. The zip failed because it became frayed at the bottom, not allowing the end to be inserted far enough into the zip entry. This in turn caused it to pull apart at the base because it wasn't inserted correctly. The zip failure is a result of extended wear and tear. New waterproof zip fitted I still expect to get many more years service.
      I have in the past crashed while wearing full Rukka kit and was grateful for the protection the kit afforded me. No burst seams, no zips broken no broken bones.
      Hope that's cleared up your confusion.

      @@Banditmanuk We have all had clothing that we've grew out or no longer wanted. Most are in reasonable condition and almost certainly have working zips.
      When anyone spends a lot of money on something, doesn't matter what it is they like to justify the cost by trying to convince themselves that all cheaper products are inferior and will fall apart. This is rarely the case. The rule of diminishing returns comes into play quite quickly. If you come off a bike and hit something then it doesn't matter how money you spend, your going to break bones and hurt yourself or worse.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Craig Harrison Believe me it's taken buying lots of riding suits over the years to push me into spending that amount of money. I've had RST, Alpinestars, Oxford..... All failed at the main thing a jacket has to do: Keep you dry. I've ridden through hours of torrential Scottish rain, ridden on European autobahns where its rained all day. This jacket still keeps me dry and warm.
      The zip that eventually failed is a special waterproof zip, the new waterproof zip is a slightly updated design. Hopefully won't fray at the base. Rukka guarantee the repair.
      Anyway appreciate you watching and commenting. Helps the channel. Cheers

      As a 51-year-old man whose wife called Mr Spendy in his younger years I have learnt to buy the best and buy it once, Rukka is just that. As with Computers you can purchase rubbish with no support contract and it might be okay but most likely you will have an issue and that is where the more expensive items will pay off because they will come and fix the PC at your house for free no matter the age. A 6-year warranty is unusual in the clothing business, they have addressed the zip issue now and no longer use this kind of Zip. I've spent hours in the rain with over 15 different jackets, all ranging in Price and the only one that was ever waterproof was Rukka, that's the only information that really matters to me, I ride my bike 365, I don't own a car!

      Agreed brilliant service from the sportsbikeshop great warranty by Rukka. My jacket is now back with me and the new zip in it looks like fantastic. Hopefully the jacket will make another 5 years. They really do ease the misery of continuous rain when away on tour. If you can stay warm and dry it makes all the difference.

    By coincidence I had the zip go on mine but rather than claim I bought A Swedish Halvarssons equivalent which has been 1st class. It is so good I bought matching trousers and retired all my existing gear except a Knox summer jacket. Great service as usual from The Sports Bike Shop. Its the best of the best. I bought my full suit over 11 years ago now and after 4 years it was still completely waterproof but had faded from a black colour to a dirty brown colour. Under the 5 year warranty they replaced the suit with its newer equivalent and I've had that now for over 6 years. Its still going strong with regular cleaning and treatment. Yes the cost is great but if you divide that by the number of years use you get out of it its better than buying cheaper stuff that's worn out in less than 2 years and is not waterproof despite what claims are made.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the comments on this video back up my opinion that Rukka probably is worth the price. You are paying for the guarantee but if you use the jacket regularly in all weathers over many years it's still a cost effective jacket.

    I'm considering a rukka jacket, but in reality I just can't seem to make that jump to such a costly jacket when I'm not riding much at the moment.

      Yep, it's a high cost long term investment. I would say they come into their own on long tours with sustained bad weather. Perhaps a little warm and thick mid summer but the protection and top rated armour makes it great kit to ride in.
      Yep just got it back too late to make the edit, new zip of a better design fitted, cannot tell its been retro fitted. Very impressive.

    As with everything to do with motorcycle kit you definitely get what you pay for , I also bit the bullet back in 2015 and bought a rukka suit it was definitely the best decision I ever made unfortunately my zip also went just after the warranty ran out but nearly 7 years in my trousers are still going strong yes they smell like a dead dog but they have done over 1/2 million miles so I definitely think they are worth the money, another good vid keep up the good work , enjoy the loan jacket 😎👌🇬🇧🏍

    I lived in Rukka for years, and - undoubtedly - it’s reliably warm and waterproof. But I wouldn’t want to fall off in Rukka textiles (except, perhaps, the AA-rated Kingsley). I’ve seen how badly they can hole in a crash, plus even the latest Nivala 2.0 only has an A rating (the lowest protection level).
    Several premium brands offer textiles with outstanding comfort, waterproofness and build quality. But they also have far better protection than Rukka: Klim Badlands Pro A3, Hideout Hi-Pro and the new BKS 100SX. Stadler’s probably worth considering, too, as it has a 10-year warranty.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I have in the past crashed in Rukka textiles (a highside) and although bruised personally my kit only suffered minor damage that was easily repaired. Not scientific I know. I do much of my summer riding in Knox single layer riding jeans that say they are AAA rated yet I still feel safer in the thicker Rukka Trousers.
      Do you think Rukka is worth the price?

    • @The-Splat
      @The-Splat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Banditmanuk Considering Rukka’s latest range for 2022, the Coriace looks worth the high price, plus possibly the Kingsley. Unfortunately for Rukka, other premium brands now offer textiles with massively better protection yet very high comfort (e.g. Hideout's Hi-Pro range and the new BKS 100SX).
      I know what you mean about single-layer jeans - it’s hard to believe even the AAA-rated pants are as protective as all that. Have you seen Bennetts’ BikeSocial explanation: “Have we taken a step back in rider safety? The problem with CE standards.”
      I'm glad your highside resulted in no worse than bruises. Phew!

    That's very good from Rukka. I bought my IXS suit from J&S back in 2016 (I think) as my first ever bike clothing item. It's still going strong, just a bit o bobbling on the outer layer where it gets caught in velcro. Gore Tex, cost me about as much as your jacket for the full suit.
    It's been used for loads of commuting, doing DAS & IAM, a bit of touring. It's been caught in rain many a time and never leaked. But I do look after it with Nikwax washing and protective spray.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was the first time I've ever bought Rukka, always gone mid price with the likes of RST, good kit but if it leaks then for me it's a fail and I've had my share of nice looking kit that's done just that. Hopefully if I can get 10 years of riding out of this jacket then it's worth the money.

    • @NooBiker
      @NooBiker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Banditmanuk I just follow the manufacturer instructions. The two part Nikwax wash is pretty good and keeps the waterproofing tip top.
