    I just installed my Radion G3's yesterday afternoon and all I can say is WOW. I was running 2 x 2 bulb 48" t5ho with 2 RAPIDLED Onyx fixtures previously and these Radions with the Coral Lab configuration is just amazing. Great video as always

    Thanks for the info. I was looking at your past posts to see if you had already made this. One more thing, i noticed you have 4 lights, how far apart are they? I am looking at getting 3 XR15 G4 for my 180G (72X24X24). Do you think that would give enough coverage?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the wide lens on G3 or G4's you would be good each one "can" cover 2' ish so should be able to get away with it :) I can measure mine later for you but my tank is a bit over 66" and i just evenly spaced them.

  • @1MICHAELSMITS

    Can the Ecotech Radion Gen 4 be controlled by APEX?

  • @justinwass1
    @justinwass1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the informative video! Just a couple questions. What kind of PAR meter are you using? 2nd, are those readings taken on Radion Gen 4 or Gen 3 versions (I assume they are the Pro's). Lastly, when you take your PAR measurements, do you turn off all of your flow (so the waterline is flat, thereby minimizing light refraction)? Or, do you leave your flow on full-blast when taking your readings? Thanks!

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The current lights are G4's , I used a seneye par meter and yes i turn down the flow to limit refraction (makes it easier to get a reading too!) Hopefully that helps!

    • @justinwass1
      @justinwass1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot! However, in this video, you mention you are using the Gen 3's with the ?"TR3 narrow lenses", so I assume that those PAR readings in the video are for the Gen 3's with the narrow lenses. I also assume that you are now saying that you replaced the Gen 3's with the Gen 4 Pros,. As such, I assume that you are using, by default, the new special lenses equipped only for the Gen 4's, correct? Assuming that this is all correct, what PAR readings are you now getting? I ask this because at 50% total intensity on my Gen 4's on the AB+ setting, I am not getting PARs anywhere near what you are getting. My lights are 9" AWL, and I'm getting between about 110-170 PAR (with Apogee Q-500) about 10" BWL with high flow on. Perhaps the PAR would be higher if the flow were turned off. I will have to try that. Nonetheless, it is my understanding that the new Gen 4 lenses spread out the light (especially with the diffusers on, which I am using) so much, that the overall PAR is reduced. To get PARs anywhere near what you reported, I'd have to turn lights up to about 75-90%. The crazy thing is that I am getting some bleaching of SPS even with my current 50% setting! Thanks!

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes sorry! it was G3 at that time.. I upgraded to G4's shortly after this video. That being said i left the intensity the same at 45% (prior to diffusers) G4 has a more even par spread where the g3 was more intense directly under the light

    • @justinwass1
      @justinwass1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that info! Out of curiosity, would you be willing to run those same PAR readings using your current gen4's (particularly with the diffusers on, if you are using them), so that we can see what the change in PAR numbers is with the new Gen4 lenses. This would be VERYYYYY helpful for us reefers out here (like me) who are somewhat struggling to find the "sweet spot" with these gen 4's. Again, at just 50% intensity on AB+, I am getting some bleaching even though my PAR readings (with diffusers and full flow on) of around 110-170 PAR. I am afraid to go any higher than 50% in order to get PAR readings somewhere near what you were reporting with those G3's in the video, for fear of bleaching/nuking my whole tank (lol!). I'd feel much better if I saw a Pro reefer such as yourself getting similar PAR readings as I am getting with these lights, and yet still seeing growing and colorful SPS. Thanks again!

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im going to say im getting much higher par than that with out issue.. are you sure its bleaching?
      I could def redo my par map.. im prob due to update it one of these days :) Most car can handle higher par as long as you a climate them them slowly.. In general i shoot for 250-350 par for the sps. Ill add a diffuser/par test to my to do list :)

    Is the same output of whites in this 2 examples? Radion G4
    Example 1
    Blues 100 %
    Whites 30 %
    Total Output 60 %
    Example 2:
    Blues 100 %
    Whites 20 %
    Total Output 70 %
    Just want a more blue look with the same white level

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to know the watts you can hover over that point on the graph in eco-smart live and it will tell you how much power its drawing.. each diode likely has a slightly different par output so its hard to say 100% on that one. But i suspect total output being bumped up 10% will have higher par output If your worried just use the acclimation mode to slowly do it over 2 weeks

      Thanks! Kessils look nice and they make it "easy" as you only have a limited amount of "control" which is my main gripe with them.. yes it makes it easier for new reefers but I like the control of being able to fully customize each channel to my liking which i can get out of the radions! Both great lights :)
