Took two days longer than I planned but had great weather. Cleaned the throttlebody and EGR valve as well. Your video was my lifeline, before , during and after to put it all back together. No plastic clips broken, no oil in the sparkplug wells but I did lose one 12mm bolt to the EGR cooler. Had acquired some tools at assorted places and was never stuck. But I did have to jerry rig an extension arm to the 14mm deep socket and 3/8 drive. No codes after and very grateful for the smooth "operation".
Thanks Brian! Just did my wife's 2011 RX450h with 120k on it. Wow that was a PITA! I went ahead and did the coil packs too and cleaned the EGR valve and throttle body while I was in it. Took me all day but saved me a ton of money. Would have been quicker if I paid more attention to your video and left the pipe attached to the cooler and just removed the nuts at the EGR. Just a note to anyone that ran into my issue, I had to push the car into the garage when it started raining. Everything was disconnected/taken apart and I turned the car on to accessory (I didn't disconnect the battery's prior to doing the work) to put it in neutral (I should have used the manual override) and pushed it in the garage. When I was done and started it I had, PO102 Mass air, PO108 Manifold Press and PO113 Intake air temp. I cleared the codes and took it for a few mile ride, no more light/codes. I think it through the codes because of turning it on with everything disconnected. Runs perfect! Thanks again, amazing videos!
Thanks for the excellent video. Was able to successfully replace all the plugs in my 2010 450h. Took about 5 hours working slowly and methodically. Wouldn't have done it without this video.
I watch a lot of auto repair videos (due to owning a BMW as my other car). This video is one of the BEST. Brian does such a great job of stepping through everything, including putting it all back together and warning of potential issues of trapping a hose when replacing the intake manifold. Yeah, it took me about 4 hours to do this, but I only had to do it once due to this great video. Thanks Brian!
Thank you. I tackled my 2013 450h today expecting it would be like the 350 videos I have seen. When I saw my heat transfer pipe I though I would never be able to get the passenger side and middle plugs out. Thanks to your video I have replaced them all. I still need to put back a lot of stuff but the hardest part was dealing with the heat transfer pipe. Thanks for saving me!
That heat xfer pipe threw me off too. Added about 2 hours to the job plus a lot of skin. I was counting on the rx350 videos without the intake manifold removal and no heat exchanger. I was wrong! I think I will never do this again on this car. Maybe the next guy will try or I'll ride it through to the junk yard. I put it ruthenium ngk plugs, supposedly they are stronger than iridium but probably a bunch of marketing. I feel like I was in a boxing match and lost.

I was unlucky and broke two rusty studs at the bottom of the heat transfer box and got an extra three hours of hammering, grinding, drilling and a tired body. Glad the job is done and money saved.
AMAZINGLY helpful. Was apprehensive, but worked like a charm. I had oil in one of the front plug holes so had to replace valve cover gasket and plug gaskets. The old plug gaskets were no fun to remove but worked out. Broke 2 valve cover bolts in the head in the process - removing those added a day to the job.

I misheard you and torqued the plugs to 16ft lbs instead of 13ft lbs like you stated and didn't realize until the last plug was in. Do you think that will be a problem? You saved me $925. My dealer in St.louis wants $1000 to do the job. I payed $75 for my plugs

Great video. Took me about 6 hours but I took my time and cleaned and inspected everything thoroughly. I'd suggest to put the torque specs in the description along with an amazon link to a Fel-Pro or toyota brand gasket set.

Brian, Another very good video. I like jobs like this. Good money in it and a change of pace from all those brake & suspension jobs. Of course sometimes you have to wonder what those design engineers were thinking.
When replace sp, are you using the original sp straight from the Lexus factory where the engineer recommended to use the same sp factory right???? Please let know. Thank you.
I thought I would have a quick look and then pop down to the spares shop for the new plugs. Think I'll leave it for now Great video though Can you remember how long it took you to do this please ?
Hello, very informative video, thanks. Did you drain the coolant as the procedure asks to do, or not? Because I saw that you let connected the hoses on the EGR radiator. Normally procedure asks to remove the 2 hoses, but that means that coolant needed to be drained.
Thanks a lot for this video. Very detailed and easy to follow. Quick question. When my husband started the car after hooking everything back up he received a “check hybrid system, check brake system “ with codes 1256, 1259, 1300. Any ideas what this could point to?
One commenter said that he had all sorts of engine codes lit up after assembling everything back. It turned out that he didn't plug in the hybrid battery orange plug back all the way in.

I was able to do this without removing the intake manifold, about 5-6 hours total for a non-mechanic. You just need to move the heat exchanger out of the way, which is a pita, requiring just the right combo of ratchet extensions. I feel like I was in a bare knuckle boxing match and lost.
Was easy job on my old GS 300 with straigh inline six. Considered buying an RX once but this kinda design put me off. So got a model with straight inline 4 before they started adding the plastic rocker covers and on that you don't even have to take the intake stuff across the top out of the way.
