Paul I'm so stoked on this new marathon PR attempt! You always inspire me to keep pushing, not just in spite of but because of the encroachments of middle age. We will not go gentle into that good night!!! --Adam
Hey Paul, it's great to see your upcoming race plans. Thanks for sharing your training journey with us, looking forward to seeing you achieve your goals in the Myrtle Beach marathon! Keep up the hard work! 👍
Thank you, Mihai! Now that I'm back in the swing of things, I'm looking forward to catching up with your running adventures again! Keeping pushing, my friend!
😆 I didn't want to get into too much detail on that one. We're safe and healed up! I'm looking forward to brighter and faster days ahead! Keep pushing, Celine!
Good luck with your marathon PR at Myrtle Beach, Paul! Hope the weather and water is warm enough for you to jump into the ocean as you celebrate your finish!
Paul, you give good information even if the watcher is not a runner. Just seeing your commitment and planning and all of your smart, hard work is informative and motivating.
Always good to have that goal in the near future, I've also entered a spring marathon, though my goal will be considerably slower than yours Paul. I'm sure with your training, you'll have a positive race. It's mad at the difference in weather across the world, the last TH-cam video I watched a few minutes ago, someone was running through the snow, it always looks so hot where you are ☀
Happy to see your vlogging again and have a new goal! I just got back to Florida after being in North Carolina with family and running the Mayberry 10k😁 Loved the race course and loved seeing the attractions on the main street!
So cool, Janet! I'm glad you enjoyed the race and the town! Did you happen to stop for a famous pork chop sandwich from Snappy Lunch? Thanks for your encouragement! Keep pushing!
Paul, thanks for sharing your reflection and new goal. Excited to follow your marathon PB journey, thinking about a late spring marathon as well, so I would like to learn more. Super week, both the 10-miler and 18-mile long run
@@DevRunner Paul, my spring marathon will be on the roads, and is a Boston and Chicago qualifier. I may pace someone for their qualifier, but if I run solo, I'll try to run my best.
Sometimes we have to adjust and that is all good! That will be so cool if you can run with your clients and peers! Get that PR! The human body is powerful 💥
Hi Paul, great goal time! Some then we will see some exiting months of preparation till March. I saw the website of the Myrtle Marathon and it looks a great place to run a marathon! Having some mates and clients running together, maybe with the same pace, could for sure help. Thank you for the motivation as usual and keep pushing!
Myrtle Beach!! Let's GO Paul! You can do it!! Yikes to the dog attack- not fun!! That's happened to me before too. No lollygagging!! Love that word!! You're doing great Paul!! Your running always motivates me!! When do you want to jump rope?!! I'm in!! Let's do it!!
70 miles is a good week before you even get into the main training. Nice work, Paul. Good luck with the perennial weight loss battle. I put on a few of the pounds I lost, thankfully not too many 😅
Struggling with weight loss is just one of many perks of choosing to run faster! 😆 You crushed your half! Please let me know the best way to contact you.
I tried staying awake for your premier (midnight here in France) but fell asleep only 10-15min before😂 Yep overtraining is really a big thing, and one of the real dangers of coaching yourself, despite your experience and qualifications !! It's great timing for me actually Paul 'cause I just did my big marathon last weekend at Cognac (YES indeed there was cognac at the aid stations 😂), and I'm itching to get right back into it again but I KNOW I need a break now after a massive summer of building volume and distances... first two 50k ultras this year, 2 race marathons and 1 fun marathon, plus many weekly and monthly volume PBs, so yep, thanks so much for this reminder!! It's literally a kind of addiction!!! My next will be a 50k trail ultra early April!! Paul, I absolutely smashed my marathon, another 24min PB!!! I was secretly hoping hoping hoping to run 3h57 or even 56 , but I actually ran 3h37!!!!💪🏻🏃🏻♀🏅💪🏻 Hardest thing I've ever done and the BEST birthday present ever🥰 (I had especially found a marathon to run on my birthday!!) Lots of tears at the finish line, you can imagine!! And imagine also all those 5 or 6-hour+ finishers, how well they had taken advantage of all that cognac and wine too along the course!!!😂😂 Plus a bottle for participating, another for finishing and another VERY VERY good bottle for winning my category!! We actually ran through the inside of lots of cellars with all the barrels, plus castles and old abbeys ... it was pretty spectacular with the autumn colours reflecting in the water too!! 🍂😃🍁🥰 ENJOY your marathon training block Paul!!!
Thank you, Simon! I hope you are right! I feel like there are only a handful of opportunities left to grab this PR! I hope you are doing well! Keep pushing, my friend!
@@DevRunner I'm 60 next birthday and still achieving PBs, I'm sure you will too - just don't forget to have a rest day once a week 😊 I'm speaking in my capacity as a UK Athletics licenced coach 😆
Looking forward to it!
Thanks, Jay! I love winter running! I hope it's cooled down in Texas!
@@DevRunner, yes much better now
I think the new PR is coming at Mrtyle Beach Marathon. Your training has been going well. The cooler weather will help push the speeds to a new level

10lbs can make a big difference. It does for me and that is only 5% for me. Good to hear you and Calvin are safe from the dog attack
LOVE HONG KONG PHOOEY!! Great to see the old Hong Kong Phooey Chop! Enjoyed the update👌
