Good point, gluten based products are very delicious. I don't have any issues with it, and eat wheat regularly. I've given months of gluten-free dieting a go, and noticed no improvements at all in overall well-being versus eating gluten regularly.

Tilly Wolfie there’s good options. I’ve been gluten free for about 6 months now and there’s great options, but my biggest take away was that I needed to learn to cook better. Whole Foods, local markets, Trader Joe’s make great gluten free pasta for very cheap. I live in Chicago and there’s so many excellent gluten free foods. Aldi’s even has a really cheap, but good gluten free section with gluten free baked good and it’s awesome

A lot of people seem to be oblivious to the idea that some vegans can actually like regular food; like cheese, eggs, meat. The reason they choose to not eat is because of the bigger picture; to help stop the suffering of living organisms/animals. So it doesn’t really matter if it’s not exact in taste. Plus when you have been vegan for awhile your taste buds change, so having vegan junk food every now and then can really be a treat.

A really good Los Angeles spot for Vegan food is Sage Bistro in Echo Park! I'd say it's by far the finest vegan food. I've even brought people who thought that vegan food was shit because they didn't want to give it a chance "all my meals MUST have meat in them" sort of people.. and they loved it. Fuck.. the place's french toast on weekends is phenomenal, their pizza, etc.. Yummm. Would recommend if you're ever in town.
One of the best vegan things I’ve ever had was scrambled tofu , cooked with soy sauce and curry powder on sourdough toast, topped with coriander it’s sooooo good! 😋

you should try Café Gratitude (it’s in LA, too) - they have some reaaally good vegan food there! :) even my sister & my godmother liked it & they aren’t vegan. + the café’s idea or “mindset” (if you can call it like that) is really positive - when ordering, you’re asked what you’re grateful for & the menus all have positive adjectives (so the base is “Today I am” & then you add e.g. amazing because the food is called amazing, do you get what I mean?). really makes you reflect on life & events & helps you see the positive - I really liked it!

I still eat vegan junk food ie with salt and oil....BUT I have to say your tastebuds do change and adapt and I happily eat a bowl of veges and salad and don't feel the need to add a ton of flavouring for them to taste delicious to me now...whilst pre-vegan days I woulda said that was too simple and plain. So yeah your tastebuds do change and enjoy the simpler flavours more.

A huge aspect of making vegan restaurants is not only to feed vegans, but to please non-vegans with vegan meals which may or may not help them transition to a vegan diet, but at the very least would please them. It is very important that everyone enjoys the food, and non-vegan input is highly important.

I love their honesty about this. Like of course they know this isn't real cheese or real meat, but people who have always eaten real meat (processed too), are of course going to go into this try to review based off of what they already know and are accustomed to. They really gave it a shot and vegan isn't for everyone. It's healthy, but remember to get your protein and vitamin D elsewhere though otherwise you are losing essential vitamins.

It was their impression of the flavor that gave them their biggest impression. From what they were saying, it sounds incredibly bland, and the chefs put no thought into actually giving their cheese sauce a cheddary based flavor. Sounds like they just blended up a few ingredients in a Vitamix, and didn't use real vegan cheese at all that was properly aged, and made to taste like cheddar. I'm almost certain they used inferior cheese products in the name of profits as to not make the meal even more expensive with higher quality ingredients, yet have to reduce the profit to lower the price enough to where consumers may still desire purchasing it.

you should try Café Gratitude (it’s in LA, too) - they have some reaaally good vegan food there! :) even my sister & my godmother liked it & they aren’t vegan. + the café’s idea or “mindset” (if you can call it like that) is really positive - when ordering, you’re asked what you’re grateful for & the menus all have positive adjectives (so the base is “Today I am” & then you add e.g. amazing because the food is called amazing, do you get what I mean?). really makes you reflect on life & events & helps you see the positive - I really liked it!

i feel like non vegans eat more salty and greasy foods that to satisfy their tastebuds they need more salt, but i think vegans have stronger tastebuds so the flavor is more flavorful for them so that’s why for them it doesn’t rlly taste like anything but for vegans it probably tastes rlly good. this is just my thought and is probably wrong so don’t go off at me 😂

I still eat vegan junk food ie with salt and oil....BUT I have to say your tastebuds do change and adapt and I happily eat a bowl of veges and salad and don't feel the need to add a ton of flavouring for them to taste delicious to me now...whilst pre-vegan days I woulda said that was too simple and plain. So yeah your tastebuds do change and enjoy the simpler flavours more.

If they used nutritional yeast in their Mac and cheese it would have been so good. I’ve made vegan Mac in a crock pot before and it was delicious and not even a difference between dairy and non dairy.

Not really. A huge aspect of making vegan restaurants is not only to feed vegans, but to please non-vegans with vegan meals which may or may not help them transition to a vegan diet, but at the very least would please them. It is very important that everyone enjoys the food, and non-vegan input is highly important.

Wrong. So the only people who are qualified to review vegan restaurants are vegans? That’s weak. Vegan restaurant is to please meat eaters, omnivores and vegans. No wonder people is so hard to be vegans when they know vegan food is bland and only taste good to vegans. It’s important to elevate vegan food to the same level as other food so it won’t be bland and boring. That’s the challenge. We have taste buds too
I love their honesty about this. Like of course they know this isn't real cheese or real meat, but people who have always eaten real meat (processed too), are of course going to go into this try to review based off of what they already know and are accustomed to. They really gave it a shot and vegan isn't for everyone. It's healthy, but remember to get your protein and vitamin D elsewhere though otherwise you are losing essential vitamins.

I’ve been treated worse for considering going vegan than I have with my regular food allergies. People at least feel a little bad if you have food allergies but they have little to no sympathy if you’re vegan.

It was their impression of the flavor that gave them their biggest impression. From what they were saying, it sounds incredibly bland, and the chefs put no thought into actually giving their cheese sauce a cheddary based flavor. Sounds like they just blended up a few ingredients in a Vitamix, and didn't use real vegan cheese at all that was properly aged, and made to taste like cheddar. I'm almost certain they used inferior cheese products in the name of profits as to not make the meal even more expensive with higher quality ingredients, yet have to reduce the profit to lower the price enough to where consumers may still desire purchasing it.
