Always appreciate your insight David. I'm rolling alliance with some old guildies from the BC/WotLK days on Grobbulus. I had actually thought to go out on a limb and ask you to join us, as I think you'd fit in well. I completely expected you to have your own thing going on though, and this video confirmed it. I hope you enjoy it to the fullest. Classic is going to be a great time I think. Whether you stay Horde or not, I highly recommend checking out the RP-PVP side of the game if your friends' hearts aren't set on Herod. Generally speaking the community is much more robust, mature, and tighter in my experience on a RP-PVP server, whether you RP or not. The RPers make it more immersive as well. I've played extensively on PvP and RP-PvP (Ravenholdt), and I think you would appreciate what RP-PvP brings over a plain old PvP server (which of course are also a blast). One does not need to RP (I rarely do, for lack of time, but it is fun to do) to appreciate and enjoy what the RPers bring to the game. And in the unlikely event you and yours end up on Grobbulus and playing Alliance, let me know here or at the website I link below. I'd love to say hi in game, and perhaps play together! Or, if you're Horde there, I'll throw a friendly mind controlled buff your way from time to time. I realize I'm just some random guy posting on your video, and I don't want to post too much on the public comments but here's a video one of my guildies made some time back as a sort of self introduction. My guild is in much of it, and timestamp I link is of us going into clear Naxx 40 the last weekend it was possible before patch 3.0 hit and took it away from us for what we thought was forever. Little did we know, that 10+ years later.... th-cam.com/video/-stGdpAJ7vU/w-d-xo.html I'm the mage with the star running through Heigan's hall. We were a guild that wanted to experience all that WoW had to offer, going back into older content even during BC, opening the AQ Gates on our server (it was a BC server and many of us had never played Vanilla; so the event and experience was still uber epic), while at the same time progressing through BC. We made it to early Sunwell before 3.0 hit, then played a bit into early WotLK before many of us called it a day. Our old website that has been kept up so people can stay in touch: uh.dkpsystem.com (there will be a new website if we end up turning into another end game guild, though right now we're just planning on enjoying leveling, meeting new people, and have no solid plans for late game). Again, enjoy your adventures and forging of new tales. Best of luck to you in Azeroth! Cheers, Ali P.S. One of your WoW videos popping up on my feed brought me to your channel a couple of years back. I enjoyed (and mostly agreed with) much of what you said, so I stuck around and watched many of your other videos, which I have also enjoyed (and mostly agreed with). Few others I've come across articulate the various viewpoints you have as well as you do. Keep up the awesome work. =) P.P.S. Damn cool server promo vid for Grobbulus: th-cam.com/video/nqKsWgkdhvI/w-d-xo.html
Thunder Bluff is my favorite capital city. It's not overcrowded, not a lot of raids from opposing faction, and relatively small. It is easily the most convenient for regular activities.
@Maintenance Renegade I'm having memories of falling off thunder bluff due to lag, hitting the slope halfway down and dying, been having to take my ghost up the elevator, then jump my ghost off the city and try to rez on the way down
@@DVSPress lol. I mean, I have leveled a few Taurens and I have never killed my toon by falling off a bridge. I can tell which faction you played, just hy this comment. (If I didn't know by your videos.)
I play gnomes or sometimes dwarves because their small size gives the illusion of running faster. If I'm playing anything taller, I feel like it takes forever to walk around. Makes no sense, but gnomes are cute, so I'm not complaining.
Thanks for the overview, David. Waaaay back before the expansions came out, I was an avid WoW player. I played both factions and I agree with your summaries. The only difference I found was that Horde, for some reason, typically had better cooperation and coordination between the PUGs. Maybe it was the servers I played. Donno.
Can you announce what server you’re playing on? My brother and I are returning to Fairbanks as a warrior and Druid duo. Would love to play with you sometime
Never played Alterec Valley as Horde, I didn’t spend as much time on leveling those characters for how boring and monotonous the levels were in orc or troll country. One thing I learned about AV as alliance, you only need one or two good people to camp horde on that bridge before the alliance general and give alliance time to ruin the horde commanders one by one. Unfortunately, you also have to make sure the graveyard near where you are fighting is in your court as well.
I always loved Mulgore and I dont think its a bad looking zone or Thunder Bluff being a bad looking city, allthough I agree that The Barrens is kinda boring to be in
Wish I had friends to play this with. Being that classic is so dependent on friends and playing with other people, I dunno if I should spend the time. But if I did, I'd probably go alliance.
I love night night elf Hunter since you can go complete stealth and surprise people with your stealthed cat. Very gank friendly combo. But this time I will go orc Hunter for that 25% resist to stun. Also troll priest
I used to hang out outside of booty Bay on my night elf hunter shadowmeldded with my stealth cat. Auto shop from stealth combined with the sudden cay attack. So much fun!
@Øath betrayer IDK who is and who isn't. Most Influencers are playing alliance, still... I think. Most wow streamers I know of. Plus, From the stress tests, there are a LOT more people in the Human starting than in the Undead or Troll. I know a few guys like Skarm are playing Horde, but I doubt Horde has higher population, except maybe on PVP realms. I am PvE, so don't care much about those...
Very much agree, Aesthetics: Alliance. Convenience: Horde. Though I don't mind Thunderbluff, and it is in a far better spot then Darnassus (which is basically ignored). Also I find Alliance quests more annoying (e.g. running around SW for thirty minutes is not fun). And Orc have Hardiness which is IMO more powerful then WotF in PVP. Having played Alliance on private servers I'll be switching to Horde for retail.
I found that Alliance zones were much worse for questing at earlier levels. Mulgore is cake. And, trust me, if you're in Mulgore, it will be much easier to actually complete quests, at launch.
Tauren druid for life >^..^< but has not played the vanilla version (started with BC, and havenÄt played for more then a year, considering to start with Wow Classic)
I'll be playing Horde on EU. The community has always seemed more mature. But the alliance races or mostly meh! Paladins make PVE progress easier though...
Sure it’s easy to follow your friends when the decision is mere faction but not server type. Many of my friends want to play a pvp server. I wouldn’t give any asshat world pvp’r the satisfaction of griefing me and stealing my game time from me.
Insofar aesthetics of character creation, if you're going to level a toon for hours and hours on end and all you'd be looking at is their ass, you should pick a female character.
I really don't think classic is going to be the kind of rebirth Blizzard is expecting, most people who wanted to play classic did so on the free servers. I played from beta and love classic, but I wouldn't pay to play it again... Don't forget the devs pretty much insulted everyone who wanted to play classic again before they caved.
I want to say one thing about horde vs alliance. Alliance is very generic high fantasy, whereas the horde offers way more "original" or unique fantasy lore and races. Not too many games let you play as a troll, orc or freaking minotaur
This whole notion of Windfury totems being so awesome is just silly. Most serious guilds would rather have another Warrior or Rogue than an extra Shaman. The main thing Shamans do is heal and decurse melee. You could get by with 1 Shaman in the raid. Just put him in the main tank group to give resistance from the fire or frost resist totem. Shaman totems are only for the Shaman's party, not raid wide. Meanwhile, Blessing of Kings is huge. Auras give raid wide buffs. Blessing of Wisdom and Blessing of might are very good. Also, Paladins are the BEST tank healers in the game. They can literally spam the tank with enough spell crit and mp5. For Horde, you can literally have an optimal raid with 1 Shaman, 1 Lock, 1 Druid, 1 Hunter, and fill the other 36 raid slots with Warriors, Rogues, Mages, and Priests.
Way back, probably before Burning Crusade, we made fun of a guy that played Tauren. We always joked that someone would skin both him and that pig(Kodo) he is riding.

Undead Warrior. I was main tank in my guild in vanilla / burning crusade. good times - got to naxx and black temple
I felt Undead had the most interesting lore.
This is really an excellent video. Thank you!
Very nostalgically informative, all those Tauren truth bombs stung a bit tho lol
If I end up in Herod I'll be sure to send you some loving whisps :)

Mulgore is very green and tranquil. Very much like being in a mountain valley.

It comes out in exactly one week on the 27th August, not 2 weeks.

What was really cool about classic - It was very easy to make friends.
I made friends playing wow that ended up being my best friends in real life.
Are you going to start a guild of your own? I'd join it in a heartbeat. Planning to play a human or dwarf holy paladin.
Possibly. All of my friends I think are going to end up making me create a guild. That's what I'm sensing anyways.
Almost everything. Is that possible?

The biggest advantage to Alliance is the sheer numbers on like 90% of servers
Arthas was def like that. Seems like this time horde is going to be packed

Yeah hardiness is underrated. Park warlocks are pretty good.
I like Taurens in armor. My favorite race for Tanking. I can't stand orc and trolls.
I actually think Taurens looks great in most armors in general, its really all about personal taste. Dont take this guys opinion too personally.
@@ZUMTEZ - I don't. We're all entitled to our own opinions.
@@MrDanielWP Exactly.

Mulgore was always good for server launches because nobody likes to play tauren lol
@@DVSPress That is correct. Basically, Warriors and Druids

The Horde have green Jesus. That is all we need.
Horde leveling is awful unless you play the Undead starting area. All of my Horde characters went to Silverpine at low levels.
Come on Dave! Join the Alliance!
I'll be playing Horde on EU. The community has always seemed more mature.

When Wow came out I joined the Hoard because it was counter culture. This time I'm playing Alliance for the same reason.
Definitely the Huebscher Fjords. I mean, the Pernicious Berm is no joke, but Aruthor's gear is fully epic, while Aspartamay's is epic fail.
