      @@nolansawyer2229 I mean don’t get me wrong I love drum corps today as well it’s just that there will be nothing like the sound of 70’s/80’s drum corps back then shows where not necessarily about a certain theme or story it was more about playing good enjoyable music and weather you like it or not it was that mindset that’s given most corps their identity.

      Drum and bugle Corps, I'm talking about the real ones not the marching bands of today. More people attended drum and bugle Corps competition, then going to Major League Baseball games. The national championships would come up to approximately 60,000 people in attendance, DCI, they are lucky to have between eighteen and twenty thousand in attendance. What does that tell you? More people would rather see, a real drum and bugle Corps. DCI is the same as bands of America. TC I should change, its name from Drum Corps International, to marching band International. Just call it what it really is. If I told somebody would you like to go see a drum and bugle Corps competition and they agreed and we went to DC I, they would say to me, why did you lie to me you said we were going to see drum and bugle Corps has not marching bands. It's as simple as that

    My Guardsmen corps did not make finals in 1975, so we bought tickets for the show. 75 was my first year. It was not an easy adjustment for me to go from marching band to drum corps. I was not sure I wanted to march in 76. Seeing corps live and this wonderful closer from Madison Scouts convinced me to stay with Guardsmen for 1976. It paid off. We made finals in 76. If you can, I'll eat my words, but I guarantee you I will go hungry! I saw him, in 1974, at ,DCI Prelims, get a fat lip from playing basket ball, the day of prelims. Also if you read the box that the mask came in, it clearly stated will not prevent a virus. It was all about power and control my work I'm asked you submitted to that demands. Plus you're breathing in pathogens all day long, soon as you adjust the mask you've compromised it. The Gunshot, was the first moving of the drunk or entering the field on the starting line, the last gunshot, what's the tell the judges stop judging. Anything after the last gunshot was not counted. So if you made a mistake did not go against you after the last gunshot. The gunshots strictly used for timing

      BITD, judging was a combination of tics (mistakes taking away points) and GE (buildup). The shows were to be between 11:30 and 13 minutes long. The starting gun was fired at the start of the show signifying judging to start. At 11:30 the second gun was fired, indicating all field/tic judging was to stop but GE continued. At 13 minutes a 3rd gun was fired indicating going over time and corresponding penalties.

    • @rhafner1
      @rhafner1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At 11min. The gun was a warning you had 2 minutes to clear the field. The next shot was when the last person crossed the finish line, that's when the execution would stop.

    • @Russellrks
      @Russellrks 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The judges had to stop judging execution at 11:30 minutes. The G.E. judges continued to judge until the end of the show, which had to end before the 13 minute mark or there would be penalties for going overtime.

    • @jesuspectre9883
      @jesuspectre9883 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Face it. It's just as hokey to have grown men dressed as boy scouts marching military style to a sentimental Streisand song and spinning rifles like batons. This looks just as ridiculous as today's prancing. Yes, modern dance has overtaken drum corps, and it looks chaotic and exaggerated and deranged. But so does this. The whole thing is ridiculous. No one era is any less ridiculous than any other era. In a way, it's more authentic to be prancing today than it is to be be marching with military bearing to a maudlin pop song. Yes, military style emotional containment worked for many years, but not for everything. And yes, military bearing gives that pressure cooker of emotion, but in a certain way these performers look closeted and mentally deranged, and like they go back to the orphanage after the show and have their buttocks beaten bloody. This looks like a case of Stockholm syndrome in a military school for boys.
      Military style productions are dead, thankfully. The days of the military industrial complex are nearly vanquished. Most military operations have been privatized so that defense companies can make enormous profits under the guise of defending our country, and are now in hiding because they don't want the $700 billion in annual support to be cut. The need for public displays of military might, military bearing, and jingoistic displays of the American flag are over.
      But now the pendulum has swung too far to the left with outlandish displays of modern dance, improvised drill and a lack of precision. The current shows lack a central point of focus. The current shows lack showmanship and unison maneuvers. And although the current shows are much more creative and artistically meritorious, current shows lack emotional containment. But they're sure a lot more sane looking than this inauthentic, almost paranoid military style.

      @@Quasi freedom of speech you can make a comment but you're way off. More people attended drum and bugle Corps competition then the people that attended Major League Baseball. You have absolutely no idea what you're talkin about. There were over 7000 drum and bugle Corps in the United States and Canada combined. Only about 20 to 25 per cent or marching and maneuvering from course the others were feeder course to the junior course many just marched in parades many didn't stand still competition and parades.
