This looks like it was a group home or nursing home in a previous life. I can imagine a new life for this property as a memory care facility, but hallways and doorways would have to be widened and a few elevators installed to make it work. The rooms would have to be reconfigured in a way that allowed staff to access them all from a communal hall, and nursing stations would have to be set up around every few rooms. I have visited numerous memory care facilities in the past few years, and some of them looked like this from the outside. The grounds would be perfect for having a paved walkway all around so residents could sit out in nature and get fresh air being wheeled around the grounds.
This would make a great Assisted Living Facility. You could even utilize the pool if updated for simple water aerobics. The house part could be the office area downstairs and living area upstairs for whomever runs it.
It was a rooming house from what I saw online. See link below, wouldn't let me add this to the linked post, which was the court case involving the owners vs town of Somers, but that was 1991.
That was my original question on the baseboard heat. Was it electric? Or hot water because I also saw the registers in the ceiling. I was thinking perhaps the registers were for the AC as I saw the pump as you were doing the walk-around.
When I view your videos I try to imagine how my family, when children were growing up, would have functioned. I cannot even imagine this house as a home for a family. It needs a group of people who have special or sililar needs.
I think the room that had the large bathroom was reconfigure so it could be considered handicap l saw grab bars on the walls and there was plenty of room in front of the tub.just my guess
We have a setup like this on my street, it was a recovery center / shelter for battered women at one point and a “last step” addiction rehabilitation center before that. Big, beautiful old farmhouse with an enormous hotel like addition on a huge piece of property in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. Was too much for the state to maintain unfortunately, so it’s been on the market for a while.
I think it most likely was a rest home. Then might have been a rooming house after falling into disrepair. The weird mechanicals were most likely added because it was originally electric heat and hot water....that is my take....although INN makes sense
The original house must have been the first area you entered with the kitchen etc. Probably a home built without a basement. The rest was probably added for commercial use due to the long narrow hallways
The home on the far right is original. That’s pretty obvious. If I had the money I would buy the property and tear down the first two buildings, and rehab the first house. It would be a great property.
I love the purple and turquoise tile! This house has no curb appeal, but the yard is beautiful. So much work needs to be done, would it be cheaper to just build a new building?
As Myrna Loy says in the hilarious movie "Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House", "I refuse to endanger the health of my children in a house with less than 4 bathrooms"
to me it looks like the original house is the two story part at the far right. The rest of the place looks like it could have been a continued care facility, group home, or some type of shelter/home for the aged etc...I do not think it was a doctor's off because each room has a full bath.. I can see why it is not selling...its a strange place..
I really can't follow your reasoning here. I would say the cape was the original building. The rest of the buildings look to be a bed and breakfast/resort. There's not enough kitchen facility there to feed the people in a group home or a nursing home. A trip to the Somers Town Hall would answer all your questions.
I see some potential for a substance rehab facility, maybe even a B&B. Any type of investment whatsoever is gonna cost a lot more than what the seller is asking for. Then again, it could also just become a complete demo for the land.
It looks like it has a paved parking lot with lines painted for parking, so it was some kind of business. Can't believe someone in the town couldn't give some kind of information on it.

Great idea!

This would be a business so it would align with City's policy.
I did some research on newspapers website. It looks like it was an inn when it was first opened.

Very interesting reading!
Didn't see a link .
@@audreyblauch8048 It got deleted for some reason or other!
That tank for hot water is a super store. Looks like a hybrid furnace where it blows hot air and heats the water.

I would make this a small palace
Just from first view Aluminum siding?

It has a lot of potential, patience and TLC, would bring it back to life, if it’s not too pricey, it would be worth the investment

Small town motel
I like the purple
I think the section on the far right is the original.
If you were to save it, make it into apartments.
Or knock it down and start over.
Looks like the format for Big Love....

For years now was sure that a six switch cover plate was the largest made. Might be custom made, but I doubt it

Perhaps a group home or a sober house for people recovering.
Maybe it was a sober living facility? A lot of entrances within the downstairs units....
As Myrna Loy says in the hilarious movie "Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House", "I refuse to endanger the health of my children in a house with less than 4 bathrooms"
Dorm?

looks like 3 additions crudely put together, a maintenance nightmare

Halfway house...?

Not a doctor’s office with bathtubs.

Only one door to the back, and it's in a bedroom?
Creepy looks like a cult house
Land is pretty. The house is a tear down. I can’t see any potential.
Small kitchen and no laundry facilities? The garage was probably the office.
stop saying but again 1000 times
