I was just replaying your Greek gods series last night and then this came out--! I was so stoked. Then I listened and man alive poor hermes!! He probably would have been fine if he had been around when all the innovations were happening, but coming back in the middle of a completely new era would be so difficult.
Since Gilded Armor hasn't been in the comments lately (not that I can see, where are they?! I'm gonna start taking a crack at the whole "writing Listener's POV" thing, so here I go!! She knocked on the door of the small apartment, her clipboard in hand. She pushed her glasses up onto her face before the occupant got to the door. She nodded and thanked the occupant, Hermes, as she stepped inside, taking a look around. The place was... messy. Very messy. And small. How was Hermes living like this? She inquired about his living situation, to which he responded with rambling about how he needed a place to stay and about how apartments were supposed to be modern. She sighed internally and nodded, writing the important parts down... not that she could figure out many. She then asked about his job. He began rambling once more, talking about how e-mail and UPS "stole" his former job of being a messenger. She had to hold back a giggle when he called UPS a "demon," though she quickly returned to her serious face as he continued talking. He went off-topic once more, talking about how he never slept and drank coffee to stay awake, to which she replied "Are you alright?" He answered with a no, and more rambling. He started talking about trying to get a passport, then about security throwing him out. She kept jotting down note after note, trying desperately to keep up, until she heard a sniffle. She glanced up, spotting tears in Hermes's eyes. She chucked aside her clipboard and pencil and sat him down on the futon, encouraging him to keep going. He kept rambling, talking about how he wished things could go back to a simpler time, how he wished he could fit in in this century. She pulled him into a hug, stopping any words coming out of his mouth for a few seconds. She was about to pull away, but he told her not to. She smiled and nodded, keeping him close. She continued letting him talk. "Sorry, I shouldn't be unloading all my problems on you," Hermes mumbled. She smiled and said it was okay, to keep talking. He poured out everything: how he felt like things kept getting worse and worse, how he wasn't the most popular god, maybe mid-tier. She offered to help him find a new job. When he asked if she meant it, she said yes, of course. He said he couldn't accept, that this was his own problem, new century, his problem, he couldn't expect her to help. She insisted. He relented. She smiled and said she'd visit again. He asked her for a small favor, which was hugging him a little more. She laughed and nodded. The two stayed like that for a while before she had to go, but she promised to visit again. "I'll help you," she said. "I promise."

Hermes legit sounds like he’s on the verge of having a breakdown the entire time-😭😭 I find it interesting how we don’t get any clear points of Hermes trickster side in this video but I think it’s because he’s been pushed to the brink by the time we meet him.
