he actually might be able to move around out in public a little easier right now outside Detroit, no one pays any attention to someone wearing a face mask these days so as long as people don't realize he is in whatever city and he refrains from talking too much and doesn't start cracking jokes he could probably move around a bit, even go shopping if he felt like it, but if he is smart he'll just pay cash, Marshall Mathers on his credit card would be a dead give away, if people don't expect to see you, they probably won't see you even if you are standing next to them

The significance of the video is pretty hard-hitting. He has Slim Shady locked away in a cage in his head. He will go back and visit from time to time to get an idea for a rhyme or scheme, but never lets him back out, because he knows it will destroy everything again. This was both a cautionary tale and a warning shot - any rapper who is willing to push him far enough will get Slim Shady (as MGK did), but even then it's a tempered Slim.
Em is one of the few artists on the planet with insane longevity, and that's because of the way he is wired different. That OCD, that craziness in him - those are wellsprings of content for his songs. He writes so much because he HAS to in order to get the thoughts out of his head - otherwise he can't think. He has done interviews where he says that he tries to always carry a pad and pen with him anywhere he goes, because if he thinks up a rhyme he has to get it down right then. If he doesn't have a pad, he will write on a napkin or his hand. He doesn't just make rap, he IS rap.

From SSLP to TES, his flow, cadence, delivery and impact were superb and unmatched and he was quite possibly the greatest we've ever seen. Since then, his linguistic devices (metaphors, double entendrés, etc.) have become a focal point, but his art has suffered in many other ways. There's been a tradeoff since he's gotten clean. He's happier, more stable and clear-headed, but from an objective standpoint he hasn't been able to recapture that once on a generation combination of traits we saw in his early career.
He's still insanely talented, but the overall level he's working at is quite a bit below where he was in the late 90s/early 2000s.

One of the greatest gifts we glean from the arts is that regardless of the creator's mindset or goal for the piece, it affects each individual that comes in contact with it differently. We approach it from our own life experiences and our own perspectives, and each life stage we visit it in will garner something new because we are coming from a slightly different place each time due to the experiences and perspectives during the interim.
In the arts we find our perspective broadened-- sometimes in affirmation of what we already feel or experience, sometimes in opposition to what we already feel or experience. From each interaction we stand to gain something personally glorious, even if that is simply being awakened to how another perceives.
Blessings to you, in your continued journey on this plane. May the music ever touch your heart and feed your soul. (And thank you for the impromptu philosophical waxing. Lol.)

As someone diagnosed with psychosis with mild ocd, the split between Marshall and Slim Shady is quickly compared to schizophrenia (as you referenced early) but closer to Dissociative Identity Disorder (fka Multiple Personalities) which is more like what you're speaking of after the first verse. Just including this for anyone interested in the difference. But I can say the combination of the first two I mentioned does lend the mind to write obsessively in some conditions. I'm not sure whether writing helps me conquer the condition or if it's a sign of the condition conquering me. Likely the latter.

quite a few Eminem songs i love are with Rihanna, i really hope they fix that relationship issue and get back into collab because Recovery was freaking great even if Em himself disagrees on that :o
Monster and Love The Way You Lie are some of my fav Eminem songs ever and are easily in my top 10

This reaction hit hard. The fact this hook was written by someone that lived 20 minutes from where I grew up it's crazy. He won the contest for the hook and became a big artist. Besides the point as an artist myself that writes from the heart mainly this song hits home. Battling myself everyday but using music as an outlet I respect it. I have a "monster under my bed" but I face it and take it head on. This is definitely top 3 Eminem songs for me. Thank you for breaking it down the way you did 🙏

I remember I ran into Bruce Willis and one of his kids (think it was Rumor) at MGM Disney World in Fl in the late 90’s. I remember we were watching that Fantasia water show and his kid was kickin the bench I was sitting on. He kept telling her to knock it off and when I turned around and he saw the dawning realization on my face of who he was, he put his finger to his lips to ask me to not say anything. I didnt, and after the show he hugged me and the friend I was with and thanked us for our patience with the kid and not ruining the day for them.
    They’re (celebrities) are just people.
My mom worked with someone who lived in a hoity toity neighborhood in Detroit and her kids used to trick or treat and Em’s house right after either his first or second mainstream album. Again, she said he was a super chill relaxed dude and since she didn’t really listen to that kind of music, and her kids were like 4-6 years in age they didn’t know who he was either until one year the crowds got so big the police had to come and clear out his front area of his house. He moved after that but imagine just trying to live your life like a normal person and not being able to.

That's why when I encounter famous people I recognize and truly mean a lot to me i'll sometimes say hi/hello say "i appreciate what you do" and leave it at that, most of the time I just let it go. I empathize with that, and I personally would hate that shit.

So honestly I don’t know but I would guess first time analyzing or even actively listening rather then just having it on in a background situation. I have songs I have heard all my life and then one day actually pay attention to the lyrics and have a well damn moment so it’s possible that that’s what he meant.

If you pay attention to the rooftop scene its is a visual interpretation of the theme that Marshall Mathers has portrayed for Slim Shady through out the years. A person consumed by drugs and alcohol. Caged in fame and guarded by industry to produce until hes burned out.

Whenever I meet somebody famous now I am legit just going to ask them "How are you doing?" And give them a handshake and if I CAN have a quick convo with them awesome but thats it. For Em I would fanboy the fuck out but take a pic with him for what? To get a few more extra likes on that specific photo more than I get on my regular ones? Clout? I am fine with just living the moment and if I tell it to somebody and they don't wanna believe me that is on them. Normalize acting like HUMANS with celebrities who are ALSO HUMAN at the end of the day regardless of their status. Love 🙏🏼💯

I'm pretty sure I'm not over analysing this but the video is a reference to the movie inception which came out a couple of years before this album dropped. Rihanna puts him under hypnosis and he takes an elevator down into the depths of his mind, viewing different aspects of his psyche and at the bottom of it all there is slim locked in a cage under guard, like his persona is a part of himself he has to constantly keep in check.
Also, "Wicked Ways" from the same album, thanks

Some people believe and certain psychologists even have stated Eminem may have multiple personality disorder and more. Along with his depression and everything else he struggles with. Mainly due to so whole heartedly going into his alter egos.
He has been clinically diagnosed with: Bipolar, Depression, high functioning Autism, and OCD yes. Only someone with as scarred as a mind as Em could come up with this stuff.

Fame is definitely tricky. When your on top all you want is privacy BUT when the fame starts fading all you want is attention! Idk I use to feel bad for famous people because of no privacy. That would suck but let's face it most of them wouldn't change a thing. Fame & money has a cost but the hype is what keeps them in business.

I absolutely agree with you. Rihanna is so fckng beautiful it’s almost painful. She’s one of those women that you see and instantly you just know she smells incredible, has the softest skin you’ve ever touched, and is only more beautiful without makeup or clothes (yes, I’m gay. Like you couldn’t tell 😂). That’s not even counting her immense talent with a voice from the heavens themselves. Top two? I can see that. There are a few women throughout history that are on par with her. Elizabeth Taylor in her prime (STUNNING), Halle Berry in HER prime. Grace Kelly, Beyoncé, Scarlet Johansson. But no one is MORE beautiful.
