Not only do you have the white car passing illegally on the right, but you have the white van illegally crossing a solid white line. However the imaginary 3rd lane is a chronic problem. That'll never change sadly

I did see that while driving, but didn't even notice watching on the tiny YiCamera playback screen, good catch! It's usually several times a week I witness something on the road that makes me go "What in the...?"

      True.
For anyone confused why there isn't a lane to the right, here's the longer version:

The City of Richmond put plastic dividers between the roadway and the shoulder near the intersection of Westminster Highway and Sidaway Road. This seems to have solved the problem of the imaginary third lane at that location.

While this is all true, the lines painted only appear to give you approx 1 second to merge right, too far in advance of the corner. The car was too soon, the truck was too late, but the lines are also practically too restrictive IMHO.

When is the last time you drove this section ? The white van up ahead, crossing the solid line is definitely foul. In regards to the white Toyota beside you turning right, not so foul. This may not be legal, but moving into the right turn lane just prior to the dotted lines is a very, very, very common and excepted practice here, especially during rush hour when traffic is backed up all the way back to Alderbridge Way. Nice try, but your simply fishing for TH-cam hits. Major thumbs down. Go make a real video.

Passing moving traffic vs. stopped traffic are completely different scenarios. Any of those cars ahead could have intending to turn right as well. Your logic is as dumb as that Yaris drivers. BTW, the phrase is "accepted practice" and your shit habits do not make for an accepted practice. Learning is an accepted practice; go do that.

I drive this stretch daily; I shared it because I thought it was amusing. However, if you're unfamiliar with this road, check out the longer footage

@@dr.d.1782 No, I meant excepted. I understand your view point, but your reply is mostly assumptions. You maybe do not travel this stretch daily, as the poster and I do. Excepted, relates to many drivers
ignoring the law here. Granted it is a dangerous practice. Just not shocking for daily commuters. Maybe amusing.

@@Celldroid but... I *am* the poster...?🤔 And yes, I simply found this amusing.

People driving like shit daily believing it is common practice is why ICBC is billions in debt. Speaking of assumptions, the Yaris driver is assuming no one else needs to turn right? is it wrong to assume people will signal and turn where the dotted line starts? as taught by ICBC? Yaris is an idiot by taking an unnecessary risk at an unnecessary time(non-rush hour) Seriously, Google "excepted practice" and save yourself from future embarrassment.
