The 4” phantom glide bait is also a really good bait for bass. I use it for musky and pike and often pick up bass on it definitely a confidence lure for me
Wow! What a vid --- full of useful content. So many are gonna benefit. The info is priceless and so well put together/presented. This "series" of swimbaits with price comparisons, sizes, rods/reels, how-to's and what to expect ........ just over the top. The "vs" thought on the next installment --- PRICELESS. So So Good!!! And a shoutout to Billy! Be Safe
Appreciate you talking about the baits man. With getting into swimbaits its a big help. I have the s waver I throw around, and some jointed swimbaits I use. Definitely gonna look into the mag draft and dream smasher. Thanks again to you and Billy!
Absolutely chalked full of awesome information especially the baits Billy touched on. Looked up budget Swimbaits and starter combos. This particular video of yours really helped out! I was thinking of getting a heavy dobins for my bigger 200 baits around. Thanks for the information
I like your honesty I can’t afford expensive swim baits nice to know there’s some affordable swim baits out there. I still need to find a nice rod and reel
I love this series! What is the name of the color on that Shine Glide? I can't seem to find it on Tackle Warehouse, and I really want to pick one up in that purple iridescent color. Thank you Matt and Billy!
A tip for anyone looking for durable large soft plastic swimbaits look into the z-man Mag swimz, larger diesel minnowz, heroz, and the xl streaks. I have been using Z-mans large plastics to fish for musky(with there special keeper style hooks). You can get 3 7" diesel minnowz for 7$, 3 8" mag swimz for 9.99$, etc. Cheap for the amount of baits you get and ultra durable Z-man elaztech.
I bought a new reel, I have broke off and missed two or three nice fish, I know how you feel. Yet we all keep going out there and throwing a line out to get another one. Keep changing match the hatch. Have fun. Thanks for what you do sir.
I love how you are getting more and more into swimbaits, it can get bad bro🤣🤣 i been fishin for 21 years and this last year all i carried was swimbaits.
Great video bro I learned a lot, I'm just getting started and already bought 8 glide baits, S Waver 168 Shine Glide 178 and 13 Fishing Glidesdale so I don't have to get special gear but I'm excited
I know people like Tranx reels but for now I'm going with a Piscifun Torrent 2 in the 200 size,I know people might think they are just cheap reels but I have Shimano and Lew's but i really like Piscifun and the Tranx has a 13 lbs drag but the Piscifun has 20lbs and its $50 very smooth reel, now I'm not saying don't go buy the Shimano Tranx but if you can't afford an expensive reel right now the Torrent 2 is a good choice until you save enough to buy an expensive one, and at least it will get you on the water but after you use it you might change your mind!
Big baits like these do well at night. I fish a gin clear pond ( old rock quarry) with big bass and shad in it. Hard fishing unless it is really overcast. But first hour of dark is great with big baits.
Nice film again👍 I'm from the Netherlands. One of my favorite swimbaits that I use alot is the Westin Swim. I don't know if you can Westin material in the States but here in Europe it is absolutely one the top brands.
this was an awesome video I’ve been wanting to get into throwing swim baits so this video really helped. By the way can’t wait for the return of the bite podcast!!!
you can get an 8ft XH Shimano Curado rod rated up to 5 or 6oz baits on Tackle Warehouse right now for 99 bucks. I have a Daiwa Lexa 300 WN on it and it’s great
Sixgill is another rod you may want to look into. The "Brute" series comes in 3 weight throwing ranges and they are $169 and have a lifetime warranty. To make it even sweeter, they have Bogo sales several times a year, bringing the rod cost down to only $85 each. They also make reels, but do not have any reels suitable for swimbaits though. Just a bargain FYI.
I cant wait to get my 1st swimbait fish... well 6 inch and up swimbait.....seems like technique is a lot of it... good video fellas... nothing beats time on the water! 🤙🎣
An advice for people. Use cheap hooks and really strong split rings line and leader like close to 100lb. A Bass or Pike is not going to damage or bent any hook because they don't have strengh to bend hooks even the bigger ones. But if you don't want to lose a expensive lure when you throw a big fish or get tangle in the rocks or a branch you prefer a hook bent and broke than a expensive lure in the lake.
I just went up to 40lb braid and I dont even use expensive swimbaits. I lost 2 flow gliders and a nessie due to musky, a bad spot in my line, and a backlash/throwoff and i'm done woth 17lb. I will probably go back to 25-30lb mono for the stretch but I had an unused musky reel to steal from. See more musky throwing bass swimbaits anyways 😂 But for that size mono a larger reel is required.
My only larger swimbait is a mike bucca 5” bullshad I got for Christmas. No bass on it yet but I did get a 48” tiger musky on it last weekend. Also trying soft plastic Zman swimmers (6”) and mag swimmerz (8”). No luck on those either. Starting to think I’m actually not a very good bass fisherman. 🤣
Patrick Fahie here’s a tip: Zman swimbaits kinda suck. The tails don’t even kick at slow retrieve speeds. I suppose in summer when you’re giving it some gas that doesn’t matter so much and the durability is handy.
@@brendanspencer2550 I think bullshad are good for musky, excellent action. That being said, I have not caught another fish on my bull shads since the tiger. I just picked up a pack of dreamsmasher softbaits, they look absolutely amazing. They have a great wobble as well as the tail kick. Definitely going to be my main lure next time I’m out musky hunting. Here in eastern pa, musky can be hard to come by. Threw the dreamsmasher a couple minutes at a little pond to see the action and it was better than I could hope for. My regular bullshad are almost topwater, hoping to fish the dreamsmasher lower in the water column, maybe even drag the bottom.
@@patrickfahie8671 You think eastern PA is bad, wait till you see central PA. A day of musky fishing sometimes makes me want to gouge out my eyes with a spoon. Still haven't got a hold of a big old toothy snot rocket. Im planning on buying a megabass magslowl along with some magdrafts, cause who knows what'll catch em.
I always cry every time I see someone using their reels as hook holders.. That's a really expensive and lousy hook holders that can damage the line guide and will damage the paint on the aluminium frame making it prone to oxidize as it is used in a very wet situation. PLEASE drill a small hole in your trigger from back to front of the trigger about 3mm or 3/8". Works wonders. Just see how you palm the reel and see that it won't interfer with your palming, I try to drill as far out as possible so it is unlikely to even be felt. No more scratches on your rod or reel! Great video btw! Very interesting for me, picking up affordable swimbaits, are writing them down so I can try to find them here in Sweden, south Sweden, Svängsta were ABU lies, and also where it might not exist any longer. ABU Sweden can be history and shut down completely. Thanks Pure Fishing!! No more ambassadeurs made, only Chinese replicas that's totally unfishable..
the 13fishing defy swimbait rod is a go-to if you're on a budget. I got it to throw the heavy swimbaits. Im a small person, only 5'1 and it easily chucks the deps250 out there. Its only 80 dollars and its lighter than my older (diawa) swimbait rod.
WarpLoT if it’s anything like the gorgeous(yet kinda bad IMO) swimbait rods they made a few years ago then those rods are complete broomsticks. Only good for throwing single hook baits like Hudd’s and baitsmith magnums
I’ve been subscribed to you for a few years. I have the bell notifications on. Yet You tube doesn’t notify me wen you post a video. I’ve unsubscribed and re-subscribed and hit bell notifications again. Nothing fixes this problem. Do you have any ideas?
Typical swimbait day....you’re looking for that “one” right bite ....I got friends that talk a lot of shit because they’re smashing fish and I’m not catching shit lmao!!!! All good I still absolutely love the swimbait game
You need some hook guards... throwing all those baits in one box will tangle up your baits and cost you a ton of time on the water just untangling them all
I guess bass will eat about any kind of glidebait like a trout even if there is no trout in the lake, anything that fits in their mouth and looks alive! When is the last time anyone has seen a wild buzzbait or spoon running around in your local lake?
Bought the Fury 795 a couple weeks ago and love it! Swimbait fishing is definitely a test of patience and skill. Also very addicting
Ive had that rod for years, awesome rod feels like its more than 130 bucks for sure
I was just searching for swimbait vids. Then the notification came. Sick bro thank you. Right on time
The 4” phantom glide bait is also a really good bait for bass. I use it for musky and pike and often pick up bass on it definitely a confidence lure for me
Anything with billy and swimbaits is money!

I need these lessons!! My swim bait game is weak.

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video but it’s my favorite video!
The old Waver is hard to beat! We call the light trout the banana 😂
you and ben are great legends! LEGENDARY BEARD TOO!
Swimbaits and Billy. What a win
I recently acquired some of those 6" Dream Smasher weedless swimbait, excited to toss them around a bit!
Thanks for this! Really been wanting to start getting into swimbait fishing and this was immensely helpful.
This looks like a tactical bass in thumb nail.
lol i clicked on it thinking it was a Tacticalbassin video
Without all the over exaggerating
I've been waiting for this video!! 🎣🎣

I love SB Fishing TV!

The Flow glider 130, bout 25 bucks, has absolutely ROCKED it for me on my local gizzard shad reservoir.

You should do a video where billy shows off all his big baits and have him chose his favorites
I just bought one of the Dobyns Fury 795SB rods just because of this video and because it will cover any of the glides I’ll be throwing
ive been waiting on this! Affordable swim baits!
Check out the Storm Kickin Sticks too. Can find them on eBay for cheap and they work great. Doesn’t hurt to lose them
Nice looking baits, Matt.

Good info 👍🏼 daiwa has some decent swimbait rods too. Recently caught a 9.4 pounder on the hinkle trout swimbaits are def worth throwing !
Yes! this is what I had asked for on the last video. Thank you!

what was the handmade bait at 2:17?

Swim bait fishing is mega fun but can get mega expensive 🤣
Great video man learn a lot watching ur channel
What would be a good pound line for this? Cause I have no clue what pound line to put on.
Thanks for tips and great video

What do you guys think of the okuma swimbait rod?
I just have one question what type of line to use for all those baits
Those Magnum shine glides are my favorite for under $50
Matt, work on trying to leave the swim bait In The water for longer periods of time. I get majority of my bites when I soak the bait
Great Video Guys those are some legit baits 👊
I mean up here in nova Scotia 4in soft body swimbaits are bout all anyone uses for non soft plastic swimbaits for smallmouth and or pickerel
I’m trying to fish rivers for pike would a 7 foot 4 heavy be good for smaller swimbaits
Love my dude billy baits !
what about megabass orochi leviathan, would it be good for soft baits and glide baits??
I'm sure it would
North Carolina in the house

What’s grey one called like the s waver
I know I am late to this party but I am just now starting with swim baits.

Medium heavy
Medium heavy if baitcaster medium if spinning
Adore this virtually unbreakable little pole.

Are the river2sea the 120 or the 168?
