I seem to remember that before Anakin, Obi-Wan was actually one of the eldest younglings ever accepted. At like 4... So them saying she was accepted at 8 years old [while mourning] is really a slap to the face of Anakin getting rejected at 9 for some fear and being cold.
To be fair, it sounds like the council had doubts about accepting Osha as well, and she left the order while Anakin, you know. And we don't really know how her story will end.

I love the reference you made regarding the first Jedi: Apprentice book, the one about Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan killing things in a cave with a Hutt in there. Very nice touch, I won't spoil anything else in case no one else has read it. I remember reading those when I was in middle school. At least three or four of them, I don't think I finished that series.
I wasn't super cool with how they handled Carrie-Anne Moss' character.
First Mae's like "Jedi don't draw their lightsabers unless they're ready to kill" and so she puts it away. As if it can't be used for defense, or even severing a limb to incapacitate Mae.
Then Mae throws her knife at the bartender, and Indara wasn't able to stop it AND defend herself? These are force users, and she's a master. One of the stapes of the Force is to be able to sense a second or two into the future and use their superior reaction time and the force to augment their bodies to react and defend themselves. You're telling me that she couldn't think of any strategy to defend herself while she was distracted saving the bartender?
When Mae pulls the knife out and looks down at the bartender, why didn't Indara just push her before she throws the knife? Why wouldn't she push her WHILE stopping the blade in mid air? She could have jumped over the balcony moving away from Mae while catching the knife with the force.. Anything. This is a Jedi Master and she went out like a punk because she couldn't plan ahead 1 second into the future? Come on now.
Chopping off someone’s hand is the primary light saber defense, every school kid knows this.
I can't believe they get someone like Carrie-Anne Moss for their show and kill her off in like 5 minutes. WTF?
@@dsfddsgh she may not be done yet, we need to have a flash back to her doing something worthy of being killed, to justify our "protagonist" killing her.
Not every Jedi master is Yoda or Obi-Wan. Stopping a projectile split second while having to turn your head to look at it and focus is going to distract. Jedi are not omnipotent or invincible and their clairvoyance is far from absolute. Even assuming she perceive it (which she didn't), if Indara wasn't distracted catching the stray knife, her body and mind would still have needed to register impending danger from elsewhere and that delay is deadly. We learned back in AotC the Jedi can be defeated by conventional means and Disney has made certain to keep the point about their fallibility consistent. One of the key elements of most SW stories (even before Disney) is that Jedi can be killed if they are outnumbered or distracted. Deception is one of the best ways to throw them off their game.

@@scottneil1187 Disney has been poking the Jedi with light sabers like they were piñatas and they always hop back up. I'm guessing that's why folks are surprised that they can be killed by a pocket knife.
Actually in legends comics metallic weapons and slug rounds were used to kill jedi, because they melt on impact with the lightsaber so the jedi gets blasted with molten lava

I was just pleased it wasn't awful. I'll take "ok" at this point over a lot of the terrible star wars stuff released.. I have little expectations of it ever being really good anymore... but "ok" will suffice.
It's good. The characters are likeable and the plot is interesting. There are some contrived parts but it doesn't really bother me much. It's just sad that people are just jumping on the hate train.

@@iainwhite8617 It's not that I hate it, I just have no interest in it. As for why other people hate it, they're probably just tired of mid or underwhelming Starwars content, like Obi-Wan, Book of Boba Fett, Mando Season 3, etc.
@@BonitoJoe111 Believe me, I get the Star Wars fatigue, especially since it seems like every show seems to take place in the same time span. But everyone is shitting on this without actually seeing it and actively looking for flaws rather than judjing it on it's own merits. At least this is something new, something fresh that explores a different era than the one we're used to. Kind of reminds me of when Rebels came out. I was exited, everyone was shitting on it, but it now finally has the respect it deserves. Also, I like the emphasis on hand to hand combat. Jedi are peace keepers and the lightsaber is lethal. It makes more sense to only draw it as a last resort. And since they can enhance their speed and reflexes, these are the kind of fight scenes we should have had from the beginning. Is it flawless, no. But if people don't want to give it a chance, can't they direct their energy to more constructive persuits.

0:24 That's very lore-accurate. The 501st Legion and Lord Vader were pilfering the Jedi Temple for holobooks and holocrons during Order 66. Sometimes the Jedi would even try to torch the holobooks to keep the 501st from getting to them. Or they'd have Jedi trying to keep holocrons away from Vader and the 501st Legion troopers. It didn't work, but points for trying.
This is just about 1000x more entertaining than the show has been.
