This was the easiest video , I did cut my five year old hair , since she is high risk to be out there , thank you so much 😊 it looked good and she loved 🥰 it .
Awesome thanks so much i just cut my wife’s hair so easy when done in sections, my wife has wavy hair so it was hard but i continually checked and took small cuts. I’m using her account and the profile pic is very old. Thank you again she said she loves it….
Used last night. We didn't quite get how you determine how much to cut once you move from the back to the sides. Watched several times. Late at night maybe.
It wasn’t clear enough, when you move to the sides, you end up taking a small amount from the back and that gives you a guide for the front. If I had taken off more length, it would have been more obvious, but then I would have been told off😅
Holy hell, as a crazy teenage girl and her crazy niece, she asked if I could cut her hair and I feel like I did sort of an decent job and she says that if I left it up to her, she would have put it up in a pony tail and cut straight across- But she loves this new look! Thank you
Great tutorial - I'm going to attempt on my daughter tomorrow. I'm a little confused by how you knew how to gauge the length when you started on the side, how do you know it's in line with the back?
Thankyou for the video. When it comes to cutting the sides please can you just explain exactly where the sides start and the back ends, is it just at the top of the ear or behind the ear, I'm confused because the hair at the corners of the head seem to fall into the back and the sides. Hope I'm making sense. Many thanks.
Hair flows and isn’t a static material, so it will move into both areas. You need to chose somewhere to make you corner. It will not be noticeable as a defined corner. It gives you a consistent guideline and direction to work from. It depends on the shape of the head and thickness of the hair whether I choose the tip or back of the ear, also wether I take it from the crown or directly above the ear position. But I recommend keeping it simple. The two ares will only differ slightly in your result. It’s about how it falls on the chest , as it moves to the back it won’t mater as it will become more of a softening line.
Well he did it, following your guide, 2.5 inches shorter and I am very very happy with it! Just need to work on his section technique and he’s good to go! Thank you 🙂
Thanks Damarion. I will do, issue at the moment is, unable to get any models due to lockdown. Will see what I can do. There is the option of doll heads , but they are terrible for cutting on.
When you started the cut on the sides where did you take your guide from? I didn’t see you take a section from the back so i was confused on how you got the guideline over to the side partying.

How much you cut off the sides depends on what slopes away from the point of the back of the ear towards the face. As the shortest hair is your guide for the front. Sometimes there is no hair to cut off as the front was already too short. This often happens when people have already cut the sides previously incorrectly, or had a shape that created a V shape at the back. But I recommend keeping it simple. If is curly hair, you have to wet the hair ? Because one time I did to my daughter, everything was nice and straight but when she did a ponytail it was a mess. What was wrong? Can you help me?
There are so many factors involved, it would be hard to give advice. Curly hair for most hairdressers is difficult, depending on the type of curl it can be extremely hard without training. My advice is to seek a professional, there’s normally one hairdresser in most salons that love curly hair. It’s only knowing the type of curl and having a reasonable idea or a very good prediction on how it will react once dry. But the advice I’d give would be to use loose tension while cutting. I always cut wet, and keep head slightly down. Good luck
It’s to prevent graduation. So that when you finished a haircut and you tilt the head down, don’t get hair sticking out from underneath your cut line. The reason why tilting the head slightly down helps to prevent this, it’s because the hair say from the crown is now travelling a longer distance to get to the same point as the hair travelling from the nape (bottom hairline) If you tilt the head down too much, it will affect the line that you create the back. Once you blowdried the hair, you can always tilt the head slightly downwards and remove any unwanted graduation. You should‘s clearly see your cutline, do not be tempted to change this line, only remove the hair that sticks out from underneath it.
Hello. I am going to try this cut. Is it possible to cut it dry? The lady I am cutting has very tight curly hair while wet. Is it possible that it will be a good cut if it's done dry? And does anything need to be changed?
Always cut the hair wet never dry. If the lady never wears it straight then cut the hair with very loose tension with a very wide tooth comb. Without proper training this can become a battleground. Good luck

I wish I had seen this before I had a family member trim my hair two nights ago. It's all uneven and extremely blunt in sections. Not sure how to fix it.
I have the same exact question. I wanted to see how he cuts the front to be even with the back, my issue is that the front is always so much longer when all the hair is brought to the front
Hi Julie, This was a one length trim, so no forward graduation. The amount you cut off the front is determined by the amount you cut off the back. Often people cut too much off the sides/front as they don’t follow the corner of the head rule. Corner of the head is between the tip to the back of the ear. In this video Anna had forward graduation from a previous cut and there was hardly anything to cut off. If I had taken another inch or two at the back, then you would have seen more come off the front sections. Its never how much hair is on the floor, it’s how you cut it. Don’t feel you have to take off more to feel like you’ve done something, stick to the rules, until you want to break them of course ;)

Hi Julie,
This was a one length trim, so no forward graduation.
