Honestly Sansa Stark is one of my favorite characters in GoT.

You're free to have your opinion about Theon and Jaime, but I, personally, don't care about the former and think the latter deserves everything he gets.
Fun fact: More books are sold in the winter because most of us have to suffer through snow and it's sometimes easier to curl up at home and watch tv or read than leave the house.

I think she'll most likely be matched up with Ramsay as Alayne, and come their wedding Littlefinger will probably orchestrate it as the Red Wedding 2.0. It matches up with his "avenge them" speech to Sansa in the trailer. Revenge is most likely going to be her main driving point this season.
The one big thing that would foil their plan of course is Theon, so really it's all up to him this season on whether he'll stick with Ramsay or redeem himself by protecting Sansa. Either way it's definitely going to be an interesting season!

SPOILER ALERT
I think Ramsay will be dead soon, there's a great battle about to happen at the end of ADWD between Stannis and the Boltons at Winterfell. Theon has been captured by Stannis after escaping Ramsay and is up for execution, the Boltons are having a very awkward time with the other northern families inside Winterfell who are still loyal to the Starks. Massive bloodbath is going to happen with a lot of major players dying.
The forthcoming battle at the end of ADWD is not Stannis vs the Boltons at Winterfell, but Stannis vs The Manderly and Frey forces at a small village surrounded by 'frozen' lakes. Roose Bolton ordered them to leave knowing he is in a much better position at Winterfell and it would halt the rising tension and falling stocks that were there.
You forget the letter received at the Wall which Ramsey sends after the battle, where they claim to be victorious. To me I hope Theon is involved in the death of Ramsey Bolton, he needs to do something good before his time runs out :)
Iotazel Yes you're right but let's be honest about the Manderly's, they will do what the Irish did with William Wallace in Braveheart and join Stannis on the battlefield. Remember who's on the lookout for Brandon Stark. Not only that but that letter is to be believed as false considering the Boltons know Stannis is resident at the wall plus Jon is the bastard of Ned who can be legitimized by a king which is a direct threat to the Boltons even though they don't know that Jon turned down the offer.
I know there's a lot of assumptions on my part but I'm sticking to them for now. The story is so complex that it's hard to know what the true outcome will be like. For all we know Stannis, Roose, Ramsay could end up as prisoners.
slightlytwistedagain the Pink Letter contains some strange knowledge that no one could know apart from Abel, which makes it suspicous.
Abel is the only one who knows about the mission, Stannis and the goings on in Winterfell.

I used to hate Sansa in season 1 but she has grown in my heart and now I am sooooo happy she is finally becoming a player. I think that she can come out alive at the end even though she will have "a traumatic experience" in season 5 Sophie's words when she's being interviewed. So excited can't wait till Sunday!

Sansa is awesome! It's just that people don't really bother to understand her. They would rather like 'badass' characters like Daenerys or Arya. It's a shame, since she is really intelligent. She may not go around swinging a sword, but she's playing the game in another way. She has more probabilities to eliminate all her family's enemies than any other Stark child.

Some people seem to think that they'll merge the Harry the Heir plot and Jeyne Poole plot, with Ramsay taking the place of Harry, and Sansa the place of Jeyne (and Ramsay's hunting companion Myranda the place of Myranda Royce) - thoughts? Would explain why Sansa's at Winterfell plus why Brienne may be heading north if she were to hear that Catelyn's daughter was being made to marry a Bolton
but Ramsey doesn't have any ties to the Vale. Right?
Though, I don't think she will be Sansa. She will probably marry Ramsay under the Alayne Stone alias. Because if Sweetrobin dies (which is inevitable) then Petyr would probably be named Lord Protector of the Vale. And then Alayne would be the heir of the Vale. I'm looking forward to seeing Sansa wreck some shit at Winterfell this season. It's going to be awesome.

Sansa actually has a lot of qualities that makes her suitable to be a queen. She's definitely an underrated character. Ironically though, I don't think she would be that thrilled to be queen anymore, after everything she's gone through. I think her wish is just to return to Winterfell. I would be ao happy to see her as a queen, though

Hey Charlie, love your videos. GRRM said that the most misunderstood characters are Varys and The Red Woman. Given that that they're both acting puppet masters, Varys to a much greater extent than Mel, how about a video on Varys? It seems like he will have a big role this coming season, given his connection to Tyrion, Danny (through Illyrio and his spies), and to the continent of Esteros in general.
Also, I would definitely NOT be opposed to winning a free giveaway but, if I don't, keep up the great work!
I have an odd feeling that certain characters are the embodiment of the seven. At least specific aspects of the seven. Sansa is the Maiden. Arya the stranger (The androgynous personification of Death), I think Dany would be the Mother, as it is a name she is constantly referred to as. If not Dany then Lady SH. The Smith would be Gendry. The Father may be Eddard or Davos, as his desire to provide for his children is paramount. Jon would be the Warrior, as duty and honor are his main concerns. The Crone is a female character but Bran fits the mold for that one, or Sam. I don't know of anyone female that would fit the idea of a crone, maybe the Queen of Thorns. It's just a theory but it's something that always feels right to me.
My guess about books selling better in winter is people are going back to school (required reading, other people talking about books etc) and the more obvious various seasonal celebrations. Books are fairly easy to buy presents and there tend to be more sales around that time of the year from what I've noticed.

If I had to guess, books succeed in Winter because of Christmas. You don't often go to see movies for Christmas, but a book is a great gift and many people might buy them as presents.

Why books sell more in the winter: Shopping, Holidays, Black Friday, etc. It's pretty simple. Plus, in early February there is a bunch of different conferences for literary agents and publishers as well as new releases.
Sources: Have been nose deep in querying literary agents for a while now and have a good amount of friends who have queried agents and gotten agents and then scored publishing deals, etc. When you're actively trying to get an agent and be published, you learn a bunch about the industry. It doesn't make me (or anyone) special, it's just stuff you pick up after years of querying multiple novels (barely anyone gets an agent with the first novel they query, so, yeah.)

I have a question. You showed a photo of Sansa in a crypt which you said was Winterfell's. To me, the crypt did not look like the one depicted on the show or described in the books. Could it have been the place where LF is hoarding food instead? Also, are you going to speculate on GRRM's statement about a character twist?
You should definitely do the onion knight or Daario. Who would not love that. Two supporting characters that are fan favorites. Plus if you do Daario give your thoughts on him as a possible Greyjoy.
It makes sense to release at the beginning of winter because its cold outside. Most people stay inside during that time and will choose to watch Netflix, TH-cam, and "read a book". That is what I think they sell em then. And for movies to be released in summer is the exact opposite response :)

Haven't watched anything but the intro so far. But I think that even that is a sign in of itself already. GRRM himself compared Sansa to Littlefinger. It would be idiotic at this point to say that she is not actively trying to become more of an active player of the "game". It almost hurts me to see the (luckily a minority) people, be they unsullied or not, think that Sansa has not learned anything significant in these last 5 books/4 seasons and is still 100% a pawn. It's as if the more action-y and hectic stories dull people's minds to not see the subtle developments in some characters. A Feast For Crows opened my eyes. Sansa might not be the greatest character in this story, but her chapters, for some reason, are the ones I am currently looking forward the most.
Then again... I'm drunk so... Sorry for the typos (i don't want to "proof read" this comment) and sorry for having the obviously wrong opinion of thinking that Sansa is awesome and her story is leaps and bounds more interesting than most of what is going on in the books (and soon the show) at the moment. Theon is the only one I'm more anxious to read more about!

Thanks for doing the Sansa/Peter video, This was the one I wanted you to do the most. In response you your question, I don't think HBO will have too hard of a time getting around the character part of the plot. They can easily work with robin and get sansa to marry him and still kill robin for the same effect as killing Robin after Sansa marries the 2nd-in-line. It would look more suspicious, but given the books are more subtle than the TV show I could easily see HBO going in that direction. Thanks again, Love all the Sansa and Peter stuff--keep it coming!

Book sales generally do better in the fall and winter, generally because more people are staying home and inside. This gives them more over all time to read. As a result book sales generally rise substantially in the fall and winter months.

Thank you , I have seen all four season of GoT, and I am completely overwhelmed by the amount of characters, so I watch season recaps a lot, but they don't get deep into character development.
Read the books, or re-watch the show a few times. The easiest option though is to use the in-episode guide function on the blu-ray or HBO Go service. It provides you the information about every character in the scene, history of all the houses, locations etc. That's how I learned when I started watching. Took me like 5 episodes before I knew most of the characters. It's very helpful.

jimmyolsenblues don't do what thse people are saying they want to troll you... watch the wiki (games of thrones is more show friendly and the song of ice and fire wiki is more informative but more book oriented) if you don't know about the lannister for example look thenm in the wiki.. thats how i learned everything. :)

Alot of the Northern bannermen who are "loyal" to the Boltons are only going along with this because they have family members still being held captive at the Twins after the Red Wedding. I think it would be really cool if Sansa led a force against the Twins and destroyed it. Then not only would she free the Northern noblemen (including the Great Jon) and basically start a rebellion against the Boltons in the North, but she would also destroy the Frey's home. It would be a cool dual-revenge.
Realistically, though, I feel like the Harry the heir plot line (in the show) is going to fall through somehow and Littlefinger and Sansa are going to go to Plan B, which somehow involves the Boltons in Winterfell. Maybe she will reveal herself to be the Stark heir, but tell the Boltons that she wants to make an alliance with them and they will somehow believe her. Then the fake-Arya plot will play out in a similar way from the books (with Jon and Mance) but with real-Sansa instead, and with Sansa really being in control of the whole thing.
I'd like to hear more about what Varys and Littlefinger are wanting, like how do their views and desires differ etc. or even explain why Varys said Petyr would see the world burn if he was king of the ashes.

I thought badass Sansa was the best. A little disappointed you didn't mention some of the details from the chapter, but still was a great video, anyway!
Personally, I don't feel like Sansa is going to be 100% for actually killing Sweetrobin, since in the chapter, while she is obviously annoyed with him, she does mention him living long enough to be wed/see her wedding and I don't think that the point she's in now would actively make her want to murder him. However, I can see it progressing like that.
But seriously, her sass to Horrible Harry the whole chapter was amazing.
Books coming out during wintertime has likely much to do with them being good x-mas gifts. But then again many of my friends like to read outside during the summer. So who knows :D
The chapter is awesome. I was very busy with work, but I just HAD to read the chapter anyway...which says a lot about Martin.
My first thoughts are that Sansa is still getting played. She will only be able to play the game well when she learns who she can and can not trust. Learning to read people is an art that is not well developed in her.
Littlefinger may be obsessed with the memory of her mother, but he is more obsessed with power. Sansa is a tool and a means to an end. If that gets her killed, Littlefinger probably won't shed so much as a tear on her behalf. Tyrion although a Lannister, was someone who she could have formed a effective alliance with.
Perhaps one of the lessons that she learns in her story is that family names are not best means of judging character. Hating someone because they are a Lannister or trusting someone because an alliance with her mother's house won't work. In what little I have read in the books indicates that she passed judgement on Jon Snow based on the fact that he was a Snow not a Stark.
Sansa needs to learn to "read" people and judge each them on their own merit. If she learns that lesson, then she can take all that she learned from Cersi, Margaery, Tyrion and Littlefinger and become a formidable player.
Do one about a character more from the books to get more people interested! Rhaegar, Daemon Blackfyre, Dunk & or Egg etc.

That's probably my favorite or if not in my top 5 Star Trek episode (including all the different series)
I was hoping that Sansa would eventually become queen because she's learned more than anyone about the happenings of King's landing. Arya has wonderful courage, but she's often not very smart. She acts before she thinks and the hound has literally had to physically hold her back from doing something stupid and getting herself killed several times. She never would have survived in King's Landing the way Sansa did. Arya has the heart of a knight, but Sansa potentially has the wits for the politics of rule.

Charlie - wouldn't it see plausible for Sansa to take on the role of Janye (in the books)? It would tie the ends between her being in Winterfell, her marriage to regain Winterfell, the north coming to the wedding, which would bring the other banner men of Stark alliance together again. It might finally end the Ramsey / Theon storyline since that's pretty much a side story going nowhere. It also makes Littlefinger's speech on "revenge them" meaningful. Your thoughts?

Nils Engman No sir, I am not a fortuneteller. I do however, read, a lot. And as book 5 goes, so does Daenerys' charm as an avenging queen, and more or less her teenage self shows up with her streak of indecisions (or bad decisions) and her weakness as a ruler in times of war. Danny becomes a wimpy, whinny little girl in season 5 unfortunately.

It's is one of the strongest of the book in my opinion. She will actually face some real challenges this season. She has had it easy up until this season. But that'll change now. Is he the True King? What's up with his dabbling in the Supernatural? He seems logical, then not. He's boring at times, then I feel I need to pay close attention to his story... I am not a reader of the books, so maybe that's one reason why he confuses me. If you could shed more light on this character, would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work!

it's not too hard to introduce harold even if theyve never mentioned him yet. they can introduce harold in one episode. he'll be jousting or whatever and littlefinger turns to sansa and says you see him, once tyrion is dead youre gonna marry him.
Ok my prediction is that instead of Gates of the Moon that her and Baelish head right for Winterfell. I am guessing that Ramsay will replace Harry the Heir. It would tie up a lot of loose story lines and condense a lot if they fools them but I don't want to elaborate my predictions in case I am not allowed to give too much book detail.
Can you do a character video about Val? I am not sure if she will be in the show, but I loved her character in the books. I know she was really only in the 5th book, but she was such a huge interest of Jon Snow and another strong female character.
That excerpt is great and I really hope that I can get my hands on Book 6 in the following year.
I see a lot of people getting worried about the show now. Personally I think this could be a good thing now as the show takes on a more original feel.
I was really interested in two points in that chapter, though they had nothing to do with Sansa (she was badass)
First was the mention of lemons from Dorne which reminds me of Dany, though she claims she grew up in braavos, the other was the knight with three ravens clutching hearts, which made me think of the great other.
I've pretty much given up hope on Winds of Winter. I understand the creative process and he'll get it done "when it's done". I'm focusing on the shows now. The books would be gravy. Absolutely loved the reference for his other show to Beyond the Stars. DS9 was an amazing show and the writing in that episodes and others like it (The Visitor) were some of TVs best show moments.
