    I've been using, administering, developing, and managing IFS for 16 years. I was at that IFS World Conference in Boston as well as four others they've held. Much of what you'll find in those conferences is aspirational in nature. IFS got its start in utilities, but its bread and butter is absolutely manufacturing, which is proven somewhat by the industries represented by the customers at those conferences. They want to break more into field service because operational costs are more recession proof than capital expenses, and obviously, customers that stay in business will keep paying their bills, but they're not the go-to vendor for that yet. It's why they bought Astea. It's why they have a huge team of developers working to combine their large and scattered portfolio of field service software solutions into one combined product that is not out yet.

    I am currently job hunting and during an interview, IFS was mentioned. This video was spot on in terms of giving me a good understanding, sufficient to link IFS in the context of the company's core business.

    I am working with IFS for 8 to 10 yrs, Project based solution for a big construction company, is great for Projects and inventory management as well. With IFS 10 they done great job. As you said they have robust Manufacturing and supply chain solution but doesn't pursue aggressive marketing and less resources available.

    thank you for your video. Its good to have an independent review of a software. I am in the aviation business as a consultant and IFS cloud was selected as the new ERP system where I am now. You were spot on regarding the good and the bad. Aviation version still needs a lot of work if they are to win in this market.

    what the other products that are better at handling "complex supply chain / manufacturing " ?

  • @mohamedsayani2414
    @mohamedsayani2414 ปีที่แล้ว

    How does IFS work for high mix / low volume machine shops and MRO type repair machine shops? Our qty per line item / part no. ranges from 5 to 30 typically.
    50% of our work is manufacturing as per customer dwg. Functions include machining, fabrication & welding services.

    One of IFS strengths is their infrastructure Asset management capability which u have not mentioned . Wonder why ?

    • @shervvvv
      @shervvvv ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because IFS EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) is a product of its own. He’s talking about IFS ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). There is also IFS ESM (Enterprise Service Management). The three (ERP, EAM, ESM) form the full spectrum of IFS capabilities and are sold separately

      Thank you for providing explanation. I wonder how integrated they are with the ERP, or if more stand alone with no integration out of the box?

    Hi Eric, thanks for review. I ot suitable for mining industry?

    • @erickimberling
      @erickimberling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sophy, it is indeed suitable for mining. The fixed asset, field services, and maintenance capabilities of IFS suit the industry well. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss in more detail!

    Hi. I work for a company that uses IFS ERP. It's still largely novel to us, especially myself, who started only recently. Can you direct me to a comprehensive resource to learn? I'm a planner for engineering demand. So I'll be using the system to plan piece parts. And stock tools.

      Hi Joher! You could check the IFS Online Help that can be reached by pressing the button 'Help' at the bottom of the page. There you can find valuable information, for example, related to inventory planning, part management etc. You could also use IFS user community to find answers to different questions and also type your own questions (community.ifs.com).

    Does IFS fit well for automotive ? DMS = Dealer Management Service/Solution ?

    • @erickimberling
      @erickimberling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be a decent fit, but DMS systems tend to have more specialized functions. Just watch for their hidden costs for integrating to other 3rd party systems!

    I wouldn't buy a license or let them touch my data until they replace their senior leadership, the scandals internally at IFS continue to worsen and the upcoming legal challenges are going to put this company near bankruptcy. Thank HR for its complacency, managers sleeping with subordinates, cover-ups, threatening emails, bonuses behind held for months. Financially its not looking good, Darren is good at one thing, lying, and even that is starting to show
