As someone who’s been theorizing about the series for years, do not take Matt’s words as 100% facts. Many new people often take Matt’s statements as the whole truth. Much of his timeline is his own interpretations and headcanons of the story. William “regretting” killing Cassidy is entirely Matt’s interpretation and not stated official. Mrs. Afton being the CEO of Fazbear’s is also an example of Matt’s view. It’s best to see the events for yourself and come up with your own conclusions. Also as people pointed out, this video is outdated and pretty much inaccurate due to The Mimic becoming an important figure shortly after this video was published I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about the story!
Based on what I've seen no one is able to come up with any theories that even come close to Matt's. His stuff is just way too researched and thought through. I'd be interested to see someone make a video pointing out holes in Matt's theories because he does it to everyone else and it always convinces me that he's right because he makes such great points. Right, I think it’s why I get confused at who’s speaking at that point 😭 to be fair to him though the video I watched was from a fan who made a compilation of his (matts) videos. So I guess a lot of the no context stuff is due to that
There are a lot of games, FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3, FNAF 4, FNAF world, sister location, Pizza Simulator/FNAF 6, Security breach then you got the DLC for FNAF SB, the mobile one that WILL DOX you, the FNAF racers thing, Help Wanted 1/2, the one clarity stream one, Ultimate custom night... Into the pit... *Theres a lot of games* *lets not even get started on the books...*
The timelines are bit messed up because origonally there was supposed to be 1 game. Then 4 was supposed to be the last one and may have had a different ending. Up until 4, Scott had not thought out the timeline completely through. After that, there was a lot nore cohesion. The games are not necessarily in chronological order either and information through the timeline is given in snippets.
Yeah I think the story would’ve been better if he thought out the timeline early on. It’s likely Mat Pat was right about dream theory but Scott decided to change the story after Fnaf 4 since we thought of it so much we didn’t consider the whole lore of the story is just it’s a dream anything can happen. It’s why when new lore comes out and anything from Fnaf world and before contradicts it I discard the old lore seeing as the story changed from then.
No one is ever ready for all of this Remember : Game theory isn't always correct like with william having a nicknamenits just something he added himself. (The biggest one is Ms. Afton doing anything)

55:10 to answer your question when Scott made the first game he had a very limited budget and he wasn't thinking so much about a big story line but then the game got so popular he decided to make more so he had to make the story start trying to fit together. And then if I remember correctly he didn't plan on making any more games after the fourth one but then he ended up making more and the storyline got more confusing
1:29:30 she didn't leave the kids. She just left. Michael, Michael would have been a teenager so she probably would have just negotiated the bare minimum of visitations with him or something for just the fastest way out. Her other son and daughter would have already died by this time

hey man, awesome video! its always amusing seeing outsiders peering into the crazy lore of fnaf for the first time. you've probably already heard from plenty of other people in the comment section that matt gets things wrong sometimes and that some of the stuff in this video is outdated, but i will make note of one thing. while matt is right that gregory = patient 46 is confirmed, he is 100% wrong on him being a robot. the very story he uses as a source makes it clear as day that gregory is a human. gregory being a robot is one of those discredited theories that very few people still believe in.
Thank you for watching! And yeah it seems like a lot of what matt said was outdated and wrong at this point 😭 so might have to watch a more recent canon timeline
1:29:32 William had his Mr jacko and Mr Hyde personality. Just like any other serial killer to the public he's a random citizen when he's communities murders then he's a monster.
I love seeing people say "There's no way it goes that deep" and then immidiately get humbled. Though it's great to see new people joining the community even after so many years!
I watched the orginal video also. One thing that kept going through my head was how the hell wouldn't people notice kids dying/disappearing through all these parties and holidays. Then watching this I heard it again, 2 types of reminant. Clara is not killing kids she is absorbing the positive emotions with the animontronics.
Based on Game Theory's working theory, Mrs Afton is someone who left her children behind when she left her mentally-deteriorating husband; she's someone who puts her wants first, no matter the cost, just like William. Accepting this line of thought, it makes sense that she would try to build up Fazbear's against and mow down anyone in her way. Assuming the theory that she's behind this next phase of the series is true, of course. She might actually not be.
1:22:00 the idea of William putting his conscience into the circuit board being just him making a horcrux is so funny. I could see him branching out into magic at this point with all of the experiments and stuff he’s been doing 😂
What I love about FNAF is that everyone has a super different timeline but it can be REALLY confusing for new people 😭 (and leads to a lot of fight who aren't really that friendly)
Always cool to see people get a tad invested in this series! What do you think of the lore? Will you play any of the games here on TH-cam? And it should be said: Scott, the creator of FNaF, only really started to tell a story by the second game. Also it's kinda split into two sagas. 1st Saga(Games 1-7). 2nd Saga(Everything after).
I don't know how it works exactly but when he said she sent them out in the hopes of nabbing a bit of remnant my understanding of it is it just soaks up a bit of the ambient emotions no killing required takes a lot longer than Williams method but easyer and morally better tho she does turn around and disappear a few psychiatrists tho so...
Mike was a young teen who never meant to kill his brother and spent his entire life trying to atone. I dont think he deserves hell over an honest mistake of a 11-15 year old who didnt think of the consequences of playing near machinery. We had full on teens and young adults eat tidepodals in real life. If people older than mike will eat detergent which is an obvious danger, playing with a robot mascot, which isnt scary to them with an association of childhood fun, is much more forgivable
First of all, Playing each game is needed. #2 is listening to phone guy. #3 You have to be the open type and want to explore a lot of the game like how you would for any game you like. glad you accepted information and found it funny to question and then get the answer right after😂
Regarding the 5 fingers being a big thing. If you check out most cartoons etc. they cut the fingers down to 4 if not less (eg Lego). To make it cheaper, quicker and easier to produce. So costumes that copy cartoon characters etc. they normally would follow suit. This then makes it harder for the performers to be fully dexterous etc. So when 5 fingers came in, in costumes, it gave far more room for the performers to add to their acts.
Trust me brother, it is a story- there have been disturbing things at chucky cheese but never gotten this bad. Its not real! Also Scott, the creator of fnaf said he’ll never open a fnaf location because of crazy people wanting to recreate the story, so dont worry, its all a story 😭
This is very entertaining to watch as someone who's been in the FNAF community for those 8 years XD i had a lot of "oh you have no idea" moments in this video
What if William DIDN'T intend to kill charlie but he did cus he was drunk and he realized killing felt good, making the Funtime animatronics, accidentally killing Elizabeth
The reason it felt like he was talking about William being a murderer like it was common knowledge was because it is. Like he said early in the video, at the time this was put out he had been covering FNaF lore for 10 years. Most of the actions taken by William and the rest of the characters were already old news.
Just for reference, if you don’t understand the lore, that’s alright, there are so many plot holes left to fill in that it’s basically a tradition for the story to constantly change
There are some things that today have been confirmed to be wrong. For example, in Golden Freddy there are at least 2 souls and "the one who should never have killed" is not Cassidy, it is the other soul in Golden Freddy, Andrew, or also, the idea that William was a good father
I get it that it’s hard to remember some of the stuff being said, but my guy. The Mother ain’t killing anyone. she’s just getting more and more metal fluid from all the new animatronics that are being made for parties and stuff. Hence why she needed help to make a lot of animations because she needed more of the fluid. Not the kids 😐😐
Yes, I assume the pizza was similar to Chuck E Cheese, since a lot of the story seems to take inspiration from it. And if memory serves correctly, it was kinda like greasy cardboard with lots of cheese. I heard some years ago that they have since changed the recipe and it’s on par with other pizza places, but I haven’t been back to taste it and fnaf takes place further back so it’s still probably the cheesy greasy cardboard that I remember. I hated how greasy it was, but apparently I enjoyed the flavor of cheesy cardboard well into high school. 🤷♀️
Imo, the elevator to the bunker isn't in Michael's house. I think it's a misconception from the early days of FNAF that people still cling onto. It's most likely an elevator in a warehouse or some other building and not a house
Isn't the SL bunker built into Charlie's house in the books? That's why we have interpreted it this way? Even in the SL custom night minigames we see Michael walking down from what seems like a house on a hill. We don't see what's at the top of that hill, but it doesn't seem like it would be some warehouse, but instead his own home. Or at least the house he was left to care for by William.
Nah. In the book universe it's all under a house, and the same applies to the game universe, as we see the Fnaf 4 house blueprint layered over top the bunker in Sister Location.
I'd recommend playing/ watching a game and then watching the theories for said game. It's a slow process, but it helps you slowly ease into the lore and explain the thought process of the people at the time, until you end up with the tangle of mess that is the present. 😅

There are a lot of games,
FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3, FNAF 4, FNAF world, sister location, Pizza Simulator/FNAF 6, Security breach then you got the DLC for FNAF SB, the mobile one that WILL DOX you, the FNAF racers thing, Help Wanted 1/2, the one clarity stream one, Ultimate custom night...
Into the pit...
*Theres a lot of games*
*lets not even get started on the books...*
That’s so many 😭 if I do play the games I’ll probably just play the main FNAF ones I think
@@mless so that would be from fnaf 1 to 6 fnaf 1,2,3,4 sister location and Pizza Simulator if you want to get the story half.
@@mless I will give you a warning if you plan on beating FNAF 2 Dawko raged at night 6
@bearnummberone5072 man I already raged in the first game, I just know imma lose my mind 😂
1:16:51 dude thats henry speaking not michael
Yeah my bad I got confused 😅
1:15:46 "the robot spaghetti that had violated his body"
WTH
No one is ever ready for all of this
Remember : Game theory isn't always correct like with william having a nicknamenits just something he added himself. (The biggest one is Ms. Afton doing anything)
9:21 Yeah, when trying to figure out the fnaf lore, this timeline video isn't really the best thing to watch first
So I’m listening to this video and at this exact time stamp I came back to see his face! Funny as hell
You were bringing up a few Attack On Titan parallels, and I feel like I should mention that FNaF is collaborating with Dead By Daylight now, a game that has also collab'd with AoT!
Damn what a coincidence 😭 I’ve never played dead by daylight though, is it good?
@@mless It definitely suffers from the "this is my favorite game, I hate it so much" conundrum a lot
@@mless Actually, a video reacting to every single Dead By Daylight trailer would be a blast to watch! I suggest you give it a look
Would be so down to watch u play the games. Its the first time hearing someone describe FNaF as "Absolute ass"😭
Think u being drunk hindered your first experience😂
Yeah me being drunk and my hate for losing 😭 made me think that game was doo doo, but after learning a bit of the lore I’m definitely down to give it another go at some point
Her other son and daughter would have already died by this time
Trueeeee, you’re right
@@mless lol right which makes it colder of a move
going your entire life without learning about how complicated fnaf lore is is such a blessing i wish i were you rn
1:17:37 henry was the person talking on the tapes he made the face pizzeria to trap and burn all the animatronics because he noticed Michael trying to get rid of William-> 1:16:14
nvm you figured it out XD
Let you know Henry Emily burnt with everyone else, so he can be with his daughter in a better place. His daughter is the Puppet who also began possessing the Black Bear name Lefty in the game before William was in head, living hell over and over.
The funniest part is that video is like a basic summary😭
Haven't seen the full video yet so don't know if you discover this but some info is outdated, with the newer series instalments revealing more about the past such as Charlotte dying after the MCI and not first. There are some other things but yeah
Do you know which videos I can watch to get the updated info?
@@mlessas far as I'm aware, there isn't one yet. The first three videos here are (as of now) fairly accurate but until the newest game comes out, the timeline is subject to change drastically. Imo, I'd wait for the new game to come out and either play it or watch an explanation video as the game is the first game in the timeline (1979 to be exact) and might show new info about the origins of William and Henry
@@mlesssorry for rambling btw
Ohhh when is this new game releasing then? And no worries about the ramble im the king of that 😭
@@mlessa few months if I remember correctly. You dived in this series just in time lol. Also, Into The Pit came out like a month or so ago. It's largely unconnected to the games (there are a few references) but it's fun
Dawg, the books are SO MUCH MORE BRUTAL😭 some kid got eaten out by sea monkeys, a guy gave birth, a creep got his neck snapped, and u play as a murderer in the games. Not to mention that they go into INSANE detail with the deaths😭🙏
Nah this is crazy 😭💀
@@mlessif I had to recommend u some books, they’d be Somniphobia, friendly face, fetch, bunny call, and Nexie. Those books are GOATED
Wait a kid got eaten out by sea monkeys
@@thursdaye201 yep
55:33 he added thing as the games were coming out
You check out other videos about the lore, especially for that last part because a few months after it got realeased a new book came out and completely debunked it
Do you have any suggestions on which ones I should watch?
@@mless I recommend you watch "I solved Ruin" and "The AI uprising" by game theory.
And in a few weeks there should be a 24 hours long timeline by Hyperdroid
It's funny how our of date this timeline is at this point in time lol
I know, imma see if I can find a more updated video but there’s so many 😅
hey man, awesome video! its always amusing seeing outsiders peering into the crazy lore of fnaf for the first time. you've probably already heard from plenty of other people in the comment section that matt gets things wrong sometimes and that some of the stuff in this video is outdated, but i will make note of one thing. while matt is right that gregory = patient 46 is confirmed, he is 100% wrong on him being a robot. the very story he uses as a source makes it clear as day that gregory is a human. gregory being a robot is one of those discredited theories that very few people still believe in.
*Dr. Jekyll
I love seeing people say "There's no way it goes that deep" and then immidiately get humbled. Though it's great to see new people joining the community even after so many years!
You are super underrated, it m7st ge hard to post and wait months for many views, thank you ♥ ♥ ❤ ❤
I watched the orginal video also.
They come out with new books every 4-6 months it seems and a new game every year or two
1:22:00 the idea of William putting his conscience into the circuit board being just him making a horcrux is so funny. I could see him branching out into magic at this point with all of the experiments and stuff he’s been doing 😂
What I love about FNAF is that everyone has a super different timeline but it can be REALLY confusing for new people 😭 (and leads to a lot of fight who aren't really that friendly)
I saw the title and I knew this guy did not know what he’s saying
dude, never in my LIFE have I ever seen anyone spell ''prepared'', ''prepaired''
nah that shit is funny af lol
I couldn’t believe that shii myself 😭💀I was defo way too tired when I spelt it
Always cool to see people get a tad invested in this series! What do you think of the lore? Will you play any of the games here on TH-cam? And it should be said: Scott, the creator of FNaF, only really started to tell a story by the second game. Also it's kinda split into two sagas. 1st Saga(Games 1-7). 2nd Saga(Everything after).
Yeah I do plan on playing the games, I might stream them here on TH-cam at some point after I learn a bit more on the lore
@@mless Well, I hope I'm able to catch the streams! This series is an experience. It's also got a humor dryer than a desert!
That voice that said to William that the darkest pits of hell were open to swallow him whole WAS henry.
It’s a horror game and mate is thinking about food💀
I don't know how it works exactly but when he said she sent them out in the hopes of nabbing a bit of remnant my understanding of it is it just soaks up a bit of the ambient emotions no killing required takes a lot longer than Williams method but easyer and morally better tho she does turn around and disappear a few psychiatrists tho so...
That makes it a little better I guess, but just a little 💀
His wife was the money maker 11:09 ❤
The female hate?? ts so weird tf
That's what I'm saying.
My fault I didn’t mean to offend anyone it was just a joke, I do apologise if you were hurt by it though
It was explained at the start of the video. Billy is the nickname of William Afton
Bro thought this game was goofy
17:30 Yeah, that was one of Scott Cawthon’s favorite tricks. Hiding lore in source codes.
51:48 I feel like Henry regrets not killing afton at that moment where he could have stopped everything
First of all, Playing each game is needed. #2 is listening to phone guy. #3 You have to be the open type and want to explore a lot of the game like how you would for any game you like. glad you accepted information and found it funny to question and then get the answer right after😂
imagine going into 2025 not knowing the fnaf lore smh good save
Henry was the one to trap all the animatronics in that one Pizzeria to burn it down the one where Michael stayed to be burned as well
What if William DIDN'T intend to kill charlie but he did cus he was drunk and he realized killing felt good, making the Funtime animatronics, accidentally killing Elizabeth
if you ever play all the games. you will need to be ready, its a ride full of emotions
As a fnaf fan i can confirm you are correct it always been goofy XD
😂😂
I do recommend watching the Duel process theory video. It does take a whole different perspective on things.
"They're doing performances, bro?"
Y... Yes... That's the POINT of the place... An entertainment place for kids.
37:24 I was literally choking on pizza
surprisingly, the whole idea of fnaf was based on scotts other game, chipper and sons lumber co. Or something like that
The reason it felt like he was talking about William being a murderer like it was common knowledge was because it is. Like he said early in the video, at the time this was put out he had been covering FNaF lore for 10 years. Most of the actions taken by William and the rest of the characters were already old news.
19:04 I think I under stand now
Me: oh you have no idea of what’s to come
6:50 is was quite literally called “Bear in the Big Blue House”😭
I’m telling you now, asking constant questions before anyone can get to their point does *not* do you any good
I don’t know what you mean
now you should show people that skibidi toilet is good as well
If you have heard these words "I think" "Why I think" than the lore isn't solved
I feel like there's one flaw in William's backstory... He can't be from Utah, isn't he British?
oh god he doesn’t even know who Afton is 😭
this gonna be a rough ride
"Where's Henry in all this?" He says after just listening to Henry burning down the pizzeria and Henry condemning William to hell LOL
😭😭
im half way through the vid but the aftons are british
Just for reference, if you don’t understand the lore, that’s alright, there are so many plot holes left to fill in that it’s basically a tradition for the story to constantly change
*hears about a man going crazy and becoming a serial killer* let’s blame it on a woman 😃
1:37:32 The picture you're looking at funny enough that is the Scott cawthon😂😂😂😂
Your not ready for the Freddy madness.
Yeah I must of missed that part 😅
i will never get scared he says
1:53:28 jumpscare
i wont get scared WHO?!?!
love that ngl ;- ;
Aww man, me personally I prefer the one from brussel but that's just me. This one has more in it so that's good. 😭
ain't no party like a Billy party
YEAHHHH THE LLLOOORREEE
My fnaf theory is that purple guy's wife cheated on him and that's how everything started
1:05:25 I’m wondering where you got that from, I need that
The audios like "MIKE HELP ME" "Daddy why won't you let me play with her" Were actually created by the owner himself, well atleast I think
Does bro know that this is only a “ theory of time” it’s not the real thing man a lot is more to discover
I'd recommend playing/ watching a game and then watching the theories for said game. It's a slow process, but it helps you slowly ease into the lore and explain the thought process of the people at the time, until you end up with the tangle of mess that is the present. 😅
