Weirdly enough, Constantine has her in a role that embodies that so well. She plays an angel, completely androgynous, like the biblical angels, and if you don't know her before watching the film, you'll be extremely confused
I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t seen her in anything other than Narnia, and she is amazing in that. I was able to appreciate her talent at an early age. She’s terrifying and magnetic at the same time in the film
@Natalia Saaame. I actually only know her name because Doctor Strange. But I remember I love and hate the Ice Queen so much in Narnia when I was (?) a kid.
It was obviously Tilda Swinton as the old man in every single shot and was super distracting. Not just make-up, but the acting was terrible. It was as if somebody who wanted to mock a man performed an old-man impression.
She did so much with her role in The Bigger Splash, and with barely any dialogue (Ralph more than made up for that!) but in We Need to Talk About Kevin, she was sensational. I am also partial to Only Lovers Left Alive - both the film and her character. ..when I was younger I just found her odd, but now she's a favourite.
Ullmann, Redgrave, Swinton, Rowlands, Foster, Spacek, Blanchett, Adams, Fanning (Elle, of course), Pike, Spencer wipe the floor with idiot chastain. Chastain would be **NOTHING** if it weren't for the Great **Mr. Terrence Malick** , the Great **Ms. Liv Ullmann** and **The Tree Of Life** and **Miss Julie** .
I love how she is so well loved but not overly well known. Affords her some privacy in the Hollywood world but she is recognized for her skill. She's like a person out of time.
I'd love to see that, though I know Bowie said to never make a biopic of him...I wonder how Tilda would find that, as she was a close friends of his and starred (haha) in his The Stars (Are Out Tonight) music video!
Even when tilda has a small role in a film. Years after watching someone mentions the film. And the first thing that comes to mind is Tilda she steals every scene in every film she has ever been in
@@L16htW4rr10r yeah, no in the second she shows up to tempt Caspian into resurrecting her. And in the third she appears manifested as Edmund's fear. So no main role, but she's very present throughout the trilogy.
Have you read the book by lional shriver? It's brilliantly written and well worth a read or listen, what amazes me is the woman who wrote the book and had a big say in the movie never had children of her own, if you liked the movie I highly recommend the book, good luck
That's the second time a movie has truly ever disturbed me to my core. (First being Cannibal Holocaust) Edit: Forgot that a certain movie existed. It was the third time a movie disturbed me, the second was Come and See.
Tilda Swinton is the bravest actor (and I do mean actor as she is braver the female or male actor) I have ever seen. She takes roles that most actors would turn down, because of subject matter or the weirdness of the character.
HOLY COW! I was just going to comment this! I thought I was the only person in the world who thought that. Great minds think alike!!!! I need a Tilda Swinton Doctor Who!
What I love most about her is that she doesn’t care about fame. She mentioned in an interview about one of the films she starred in ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin’ that she was told she can morph into whatever costume she wears. And that’s true. She also said she purposely performs in Indy films so avoid attention. She likes being underrated cause she doesn’t live for the hype that the entertainment in the industry brings like the Oscars and what not. She’s robbed of a lot of Oscar awards by the way. Awesome video. I love her
because she's not a typical pretty face and it's her quirky appearance that is truly the breath of fresh air compared with many other female actors. Plus, she makes you believe her role is actually how she is. Completely convincing and thorough.
Her performance in suspiria is mind boggling and has to be one of the greatest in modern times she not only plays two main characters but one of them is french and speaks german/english/french the first one with a small accent while Lutz Ebersdorf speaks german free of accent but his english sounds very german. She also plays a third role but the previous reasons are such big commitment and in my opinion need to be credited!
FINALLY someone talks about Suspiria. I cannot put into words how much I love the film and how strange it makes me feel, it’s literally perfect and the tone is so old fashioned and classic. Brilliant.
Told a is probably one of my favorite present day actresses, from screen to choices in life. She brought a little boy as her date one time to red carpet, and has a fascinating living arrangement with her family. I just adore her 🌺
Tilda is a fine Scottish actress, I first saw her in ORLANDO and was swept away by her superb performance....lets face it, she owns every role she has played.
Loved her in Snowpiercer! But she had my heart with Only Lovers Left Alive. Tom Hiddleston and she were freaking brilliant as vampires who loved music especially rock. Argh! If you haven't seen it, go watch it! LIKE NOW, LIKE RIGHT NOW! Lol
she is one of the best actesses of our time in my estimation. She always adds a myustique and tongue in cheek humor to each character (unless it's a scary character or villain which she ALSO does well!)
Truly one of the most luminous presences on film. But how could you leave Derek Jarman off the list of acclaimed directors? It was the most important collaboration of her career, how she got her start! Obviously he's not the household name that, say, Wes Anderson or the Coens are, but what a missed opportunity to help redress that!
I've seen about half of these movies, and seriously I had NO IDEA she was in most of them! I was first properly introduced to her through We Need to Talk About Kevin and Suspiria (2018), in the latter she absolutely FLOORED me because I had no idea she played 3 roles. Some people say "well she was obvious as the old man" and though I definitely knew there was something up with his voice, I had still had absolutely no clue. And I desperately need to see The Zero Theorem because Gilliam is my favorite director and I know it's not supposed to be his best, but with Swinton in it, it can't be bad.
I always had a crush on her... I still have...it's kinda embarrassing because I'm young but idc... I always have this feeling in my stomach when I see her... When I was in a bus, the busdriver showed the film Narnia... When I saw Tilda I completely freaked out cause I was so damn happy😂everyone was like: what the hell is wrong with you?! 😂
Swinton would be a perfect cast in a Bowie biopic
Yasssss!!!!!
Or a Dr Who.
Was just thinking that.
@Wintermute But she has wonderfully portray man in film before, and she's was unclockable. Her talent transcends gender barriers
if kate blanchett played bob dylan then why cant tilda play david? it’s a perfect match, ur just boring
Weirdly enough, Constantine has her in a role that embodies that so well. She plays an angel, completely androgynous, like the biblical angels, and if you don't know her before watching the film, you'll be extremely confused
Clem J brilliant as Gabriel .she's like a Botticelli angel
That role was what sealed the deal for me and really made me want to research her work more. What an incredible talent.
That’s the first film I saw her in and I was so intrigued. Her portrayal of Gabriel was the most memorable part of the film for me.
Clem J that role made me get obsessed with her and then the snowpiercer acting. After that I watched everything tilda.!!!
@@fufufuaru Same. That was also the first film i saw her appear in. Since then, seeing her appear in films felt like a treat.
You missed a huge opportunity to make your point unarguable by not showing her as Gabriel in Constantine.
Yes

Tilda Swinton is a force of nature. Her role(s) in Suspiria only serve to validate that fact.

I would love to see a movie with Swinton and Joaquin Phoenix together.

Isn't she stunning in that? When I was younger I thought she was Male and found her very attractive. Still do, even knowing she is female.
She's one of the best actresses ever set foot on the planet. I will always reinvindicate her underrated role in Julia, harrowing performance.
I just watched Julia for thr 1st time the other day and again I was completely blown away

Kinda surprising, but I guess it's a testament to her skill.
I want to see her play Bowie the way Cate Blanchett played Dylan

Only Lovers Left Alive might be one of the greatest films ever made, in my humble opinion. Tilda plays her role exceptionally well, as usual.
Glad there are still actors and acresses that are valued for their acting skills and not mostly for their appearance.
