As a youngster, I never missed an episode of Combat, 12 O'clock High, or Rat Patrol. My grandfather was a WW I veteran at 16 years of age. My step dad was a WW II vet. My uncle a Vietnam vet. I cannot begin to realize the horrors of war that they experienced. I appreciate the sacrifices of all our vets very very much. Now at 66 years of age, I can no longer watch these programs that portray the horror and futility of war. War is the ultimate pinnacle of mankind's failure at humanity. History has largely been ignored by the masses and we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again for generations yet to come. The peoples of this world have learned nothing.

Well, except for the "instructor" that was supposed to teach us "intro to Deutsche for Soldiers" when I got stationed in Schweinfurt - She was "teaching" us to speak it with a horrendous BRITISH accent. Never figured out who hired her.

What a shame we became too "woke" to enjoy great television like this and at the same time honor the true great Americans that fought for our freedom to be so damn stupid in our "wokeness". I'm so thankful I got to live my childhood without the bullshit that is driven into the developing minds today. This and other great shows were pulled from the air because of the violence they betrayed. A show about the great war had some violence in it? "Let's pretend it never happened and yank it from all television sets across the country." Thinking this will end all violence was the thought and the birth of the woke liberal mind that is tearing our country apart today.
