  • Among the Joshua. I recently had an opportunity to spend a day in Joshua Tree National Park filming and wanted to focus on telling a story about the importance of nature and the fragility surrounding these iconic monoliths of the Mojave Desert. We all have the power to change the future, and ensure that this incredible yucca, the Joshua Tree, remains on the landscape for generations to come. These amazing trees are really not trees, but rather one of the tallest members of the yucca family and are threatened by climate change. I filmed this all on the new Sony A7s III, a superb tool for the job, along with the Atomos Ninja V external recorder, and paired this combo with th Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens and the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3. A link to the rest of my equipment is below.
    A "Behind the Scenes" of this video is coming out next so stay tuned!
    "Among The Joshua" won three awards! Best Documentary, Best Cinematography, and Best Director at the 2021 Show Low International Film Festival in Show Low, Arizona.

    Great story... you almost lost it with the cheesy rhetoric about falling in love and then gracefully and even amazingly recovered beginning at 5:00 with "In such a harsh environment, where it's difficult for life to find a way, it somehow does." was excellence in action Mr Lacy. Keep doing what you do which seems to be following a passion to connect with nature on an amazing level and a mission to produce engaging and entertaining shows. I’m officially a fan Sir.

    I think you got it right, the key to saving nature is falling in love with it.

      It's something I think is truly what connects us to it, weather it's a love for wildlife, wild places, or just being out in it, it's a love for nature that will save it. :)

    You always seem to select just the right music to accompany your films and this was no exception. I appreciate your love of nature and wish more people felt the same way. Or, at least, the world placed more weight upon those that love nature than those who exploit it for money. Keep up the great work!

    Awesome! Do you need a permit to film here if you just run and gun, skeleton crew\cast(2-3) people?

    • @FilmingTheWild
      @FilmingTheWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its always smart to check National Parks before going. But a recent ruling in court has made it possible to film without permits in National Parks if the filming activities are "Low Impact" e.t.c heres the link: www.nps.gov/aboutus/news/commercial-film-and-photo-permits.htm

      @@FilmingTheWild thanks! How busy was it when you filmed there? I’m thinking about shooting a short film at hidden valley trail, just myself shooting and maybe 2 actors. Run and gun style, just my gimbal and camera.

    • @FilmingTheWild
      @FilmingTheWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drowranger7861 it wasn't that busy, certainly people, but not unmanageable. I camped at one of the camp sites on the north side and was in the park at sunup. Granted, it was early July so pretty warm, so beat the heat that way.

    • @FilmingTheWild
      @FilmingTheWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drowranger7861 of course! Im glad you enjoyed that BTS. Glad I could inspire! And although a long lens always is great, you can still use shorter ones, just requires a little ingenuity to get the shots!
