@@sainraye1409 Hydrogen peroxide can cause significant damage to the protective enamel of teeth if used too often or in too-high concentrations. More serious side effects of hydrogen peroxide whitening include inflammation of the teeth roots in the gums. It does whiten teeth and kill bacteria but has some harm. Make sure you never use a concentration above 3%. You can try baking soda as it's great at removing built-up plaque and surface stains, but it can also damage your enamel if you brush with it too aggressively. Don't overuse the product - Don't use baking soda for whitening purposes more than twice a week. Foods can also cause staining such as curry, coffee, tea, etc. Some medication and smoking as well stain teeth.

I had all mine shaved down and crowned with porcelain in 2007. 10 years later I began to experience failure losing crowns and then losing teeth. My bite changed cracking 6 crowns and losing a bridge I went from a perfect smile to being ashamed of my smile in just the last 3 years. Basically the rest of the work that I had done is gonna fail as well. Now I am going to pull them all and get the all on 4 done on both arches. For a cost of 60k. I need to smile and I'm scheduled for surgery in Aug. My advice is to not shave down the tooth because it will come back to bite you in the butt

Is there any way that the government can help you, like a medical card to help put money towards it unless you have enough money for it.it’s a good investment for your mental health also as confidence and how you feel about yourself all comes from your smile and speech and it’s an awful feeling if you feel ashamed to speak but I hope you do and feel good about yourself in the next few months as you will see a new person looking back at you

    • @DrTerriAlani

So sorry you have experienced this....We have many patients we do crowns on and they last a very long time....Of course it is important to maintain by getting teeth checked and cleaned routinely....And wearing a nightguard will help protect...With that said, veneers are minimally invasive and very little tooth structure is removed so yes, we like to save tooth structure....Hope you are able to get your smile back:)

Wish more people read this advice before pulling the trigger and getting veneers. Your own teeth, no matter how bad they might look, are always x100 better than veneers, crowns, or any other artificial stuff you put on your teeth. With veneers/crowns on, your teeth cannot be naturally remineralized via saliva, and also more susceptible to decay, as you lose the ability to clean them properly.

LOL My Dream too! I would give almost ANYTHING to have beautiful teeth like this...even if just in the front where they can be seen. Wish someone would sponsor me too or I would win a contest or something! My teeth have always been taking care of, always told my home care was good. Now, after this upcoming Friday when I have 3 more teeth extracted, it will be 6 teeth in 3 months. Every root canal I had went bad after a while because I could never afford a crown. I was told my biggest problem is medications I take and that I am a mouth breather when I sleep. I use Biotene now before bed, but still wake up with my mouth dry like a desert. The dental pain I have had and have is about a level 9 or 10. Been treated with so many different antibiotics but still
suffering. In USA, the Federal Govt. should have atleast basic dental care for every US Citizen for FREE.

I've been a dental assistant for over ten years and I will tell you this is true. These are good preps and the technique is solid, but because the veneers don't cover the whole tooth they will not last 20 years without coming off, even with nightguard use. I think veneers are fine if you have major aesthetic work you want done, but it's not without high cost and most dentists will not admit that veneers don't tend to last and don't work at all for some patients. I look at this and I think about how this dude will never bite into an apple the same way again, lol.

I have composite veneers and I can answer your questions. I’ve had mine for 6-7 years now and go on monthly dental checkups, I can tell you that my real teeth underneath is healthy, no cavity and my veneers are still strong. Granted, I take proper care of them. Composite veneers stain a lot more easily than porcelain though, so once I earn enough money, I’d have my teeth whitened. Hope this helped :) Also my teeth was also shaved just a little bit, to accommodate my veneers. So seeing this video made me think if I could get this too.

    • @pattydonna8549
      @pattydonna8549 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Even if you can see decay, you need an x-ray to see the extent of the decay. You also need an x-ray to see decay interproximally (between teeth) so an x-ray would also detect decay under a porcelain veneer.

Something ive noticed in people with veneers is that their gum or tooth behind the veneer gets discoloured and starts looking black around the edge, but the veneer sort of hides it...I think it isnt really good for tooth health- we are born with naturally healthy teeth that last us our whole lives- why compromise the structural integrity of that to something that has to be replaced every 25 years or sooner.....still I appreciate this dentist keeping most of the tooth intact- unlike some of these crazy dentists trying to make some quick money by ruining perfectly healthy teenagers teeth. Floss twice a day with toothpaste on the floss and brush twice a day, clean your tounge and mouthwash alcohol free if you want and youre golden

My teeth get cavities really easily no matter how much I floss and brush them, it’s genetics, same with my parents, and now the edges of the fillings look very dark which is why I’m looking for ways to brighten them without getting my fillings filed down or replaced every few years.

IO personally think teeth add to a persons character, so i dont care if theyre crooked as long as theyre looked after.
And the reason it makes m esad is because i think it cant be good to shave down your tooth permanently to the point you will always require some form of costly dental treatment. If you feel it will boost your confidence and youre willing to sacrifice your tooth strugture, its just something to consider, that some people jump into it it seems like for a trend

@@highfive7815 hey if your teeth are causing you problems i think thats a separate thing, I just replied to monica about the angle i am coming from. If it is going to help protecct the health of your tooth in some kind of way- that is totally different to shaving down the structure of your healthy tooth to get a fashionable smile. My point is it is permanent and fashion isnt permanent so it really needs to be thought through yknow.
I hear what you are saying about genetics, but also might be worth looking into remineralising tooth pastes and trying to leave them overnight, apaguard is one. Toothpastes with hydroxyapetite- thats what teeth are made of and cavities occur also when there is a mineral deficiency. Also if there is alot of acidity in the mouth either due to diet- sugars/acidic things, but also if you eat alot of beans and dont soak them and rinse, they have phytic acid which apparantly leaches minerals from your diet. Also fermented cod liver oil is meant to be good aswell.
might not be of any use if it is just down to genetics- but I made some of these changes to my diet- mainly stopped drinking soda, sweets, flossed with toothpaste(x2 a day) and had the fermented cod liver oil and managed to halt the progression of my cavity. Dentist said after a year it stayed the same size and seized development. ive been abit slack with it recently but lifestyle can also have an impact- obvs genetics are genetics, but on the off hand any of this is helpful

You do know in A LOT of cases dental issues aren’t always the result of bad dental hygiene! Medical conditions/cancer/certain medications/various illnesses/a whole list of otr. issues, etc unrelated to hygiene can have a serious & devastating effect on your teeth. Many ppl suffer w/depression/anxiety/self-esteem issues, etc as a result of those dental problems & unfortunately don’t have the resources to pay $25-50GRAND+ for extensive dental work so they just suffer, before making cute comments for “likes” & laughs, educate yourself, “kid”…smh🤦🏽‍♀️
