    I've looked into the Camellia Cost Analysis and 'Window & Door budget included: $32,500.' Could you be kind enough to publish the price for 1) each of the 4 big south-facing windows 2) the main entrance door 3) each of the inside doors 4) each of the east windows shown at 1:41 and finally the small ADU windows shown at 2:18. Are all windows and doors in the Carmellia build manufactured by Munster Joinery in Ireland? Do all the doors and windows have 3 ball-bearing hinges for minimal friction, wear and tear, as well as long life and peace of mind for the owners? Thank you, Paul, for educating me and everybody else so thoroughly end enthusiastically on the Passive House Standard and for being so positive and always answering all of our minute questions!

    It’s also beneficial to strategically place trees like maples in the way of the windows that will block the solar heat gain in the summer then lose their leaves and allow the sunlight to shine in in the winter.

    • @EkoBuiltPassiveHomes
      @EkoBuiltPassiveHomes  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@CMCraftsman yes this would be a good happy medium strategy for shading/solar gain. That said windows on the south are normally naturally shaded during summer with a good roof overhang. Trees would be most beneficial on east and west to block difficult to shade horizontal sunlight in the summer morning/afternoon.

    All homes should be built to accommodate the elderly and disabled. This will be better for everyone.
    Large wide doorways and hallways make using a cane, walker or wheel chair much easier.
    Bathrooms or wet rooms need to have flat floors and no shower hump or pan. A flat floor allows for easy access and drains need to provided.
    Easy to use lever door and faucet handles are easier for the elderly to grip and open.
    Main floors should include a master bedroom, restroom, shower, laundry and wide walk in closet with few steps to enter.
    Homes should be designed with aging in place in mind.

    All new buildings should be designed with large roof overhangs. The large overhang provides beauty and protection from the sun, rain and wind.
    Protection of the doors, windows and siding make for a more durable and comfortable home.

      @EkoBuiltPassiveHomes  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mostviews111 No problem, think of a Passivehouse operation like a high-performance (yeti) thermos during winter, its ability to hold heat is tremendous & with respect to windows - they are thermal bridge free, have 1” vacuum spaces between triple pane glass. The windows are designed to hold heat (inside) during winter rather than leak energy like conventional windows. A high solar heat gain coefficient, allows, sun energy to come into the home even during cloudy conditions. Even if the house was never heated during the winter, the inside would never drop below 50 to 60°F.
