I had the same story before with a $700 purchase. I found a better deal and canceled it 5 seconds after I ordered. They sent it anyways and so when it arrived I returned it at the door. The package was never in my custody. It was sent back and they never sent a refund and refused to over a month span. I started a three way call with my bank and got the issue resolved. Their excuse was that it was stuck in shipping and was my fault. You may need to do the same through your bank and I recommend doing so.

I ordered my Phantex P300a mesh case from them, it got lost in transit for a few days. I filed a missing claim and ordered from amazon. I ended up with 2 cases, because I thought I would never receive the case from newegg. I ended up selling the extra case. I had one bad experience, now I am not buying from them again. Never had any issues from amazon, I had an ssd that I bought from amazon, it died 1 week after use. I sent it back and got a refund no questions asked. I will be doing my shopping on amazon from now on

I used their mobile app today (UK based). Clicked on their 'Build configurator' .. selected 'Enthusiast (from £3400ish)' .. then selected 'Intel'.. I was then presented with a template 'list' of components. It had a GTX 1650 (@ £279 or so). WTF..... !!!! Where's all the cost.... oh on some 2TB 'solution' costing £1900 ish..... Its interesting. When it comes to a delivery service to a residential or a postman service, it's impolite. But when it comes to logistics of major commerce; like shipper receiver and carrier, its okay. That is why carriers charge a fee for wait time to unload a product. The product often times has to be counted and inspected before it is accepted. It's interesting how the industry is set up so that the consumer doesn't really have the same option. The only reason is money. Time is money. And the delivery person has a time quota. Thats the only problem. It's just interesting how it is and how most people think about it. I don't have an opinion on the matter. It's just interesting.

Yep. For a time, they outdid Amazon with things like upgrading shipping for free so ground orders got 2-day instead. Newegg excelled at delivering beyond customer expectations and Amazon struggled for a long time to compete. Where Amazon won was by having warehouses everywhere and their ruthless pricing. Rather than try to fight that, Newegg went down a different, darker path. It is not the same company it once was.

Sure I got a refund but they tried to dump a dangerous product on me! Sad thing is they may stick that PSU into another computer and sell it and kill another GPU or even worse set something flammable on fire and burn down a ton of stuff or kill someone! How are neither Gigabyte or Newegg getting in trouble for continuing to sell this product instead of doing a recall?!

Similar thing happened to me when shipping a return to Newegg. I had "won" a combo on the shuffle but found a better deal while the package was being shipped. This lead to me returning the products back to newegg. Both products were unopened in their original boxes when I shipped them back. Imagine my surprise when I get hit with a restocking fee for one of the products being deemed as opened by their warehouse; I started a chat with customer service where the representative told me that because the warehouse crew said one of the packages was opened, they could not remove the fee. I had pictures of the packages at the shipping facility and argued that the packages had to be unopened because I had them returned as refused shipments (this can only be done through the original label if the package is still sealed). It took an escalation and me emailing the pictures before they removed the fee from the shipment. Real fun company to work with!

Tried to post this a few times lol, keeps getting pulled... But yhea my last mobo from Asus, I got it off amazon for the reason of their complex market corner scheme of a return policy that at least acknowledges that they are essentially a 3rd party dumpsterfire hole... That Asus has no sticker on the box or the static bag is concerning as hell, specially for a 450 dollar motherboard. I started a cross ship return immediately and was able to compare the two, finding the second in worse condition than the first one (box bruising, pins poking holes in bag... not a seal sticker to be found anywhere). I tried to pick the least screwed up of the two, mighta picked wrong as I haven't booted yet* and when I socketed the CPU, the socket was popped out from the board... it did pop back in though? Did this after learning that at least I'm not alone in asus not having a box or static bag seal of any kind... but basically if I had bought this from newegg, how the hell would I be able to prove this WASN'T an open box? Part of that in this case is asus lowering the packing standards, but the egg predating on these things is exactly why I go through with the bs of amazon... The only reason amazon has been able to get away with it's transition from a first party trusted to a shady random pawn shop is because of it cornering the market with it's logistics at an absurd human and monetary cost.
The idea that B and H and Egg and others can get away with this same level of restock and shipping fees with the reliability of craigs but not in person... this is a low bar that I really wish people would stop feeding into. Hell I wish people would stop feeding into any of the low bars, the hyper-normalizing of this crap is not helping my pre-Milton Friedman idealistic fantasy of capitalism, much less my faith in human... yup just humans, like conceptually. I still to this day have no idea if the two BRAND NEW boards I had, were even that... were they open box? RMA refurbished? No idea, but I know if I had gotten it from Newegg it would have cost me money just to find out the lack of sticker was a norm, and I'm sure egg never takes advantage of the fact that asus ships a 450 buck brand new board with no tamper protection seals on the box or static bag... never mind potential humidity in the warehouse, cause those boxes were sccccufffffed. From what I hear, new egg is just as bad as amazon fullfill as far as breakage goes, so, at this point... please people stop supporting the efforts of gaslighting the lower bar!
Apologies for the strange language and namings, trying to keep this from getting censored, hopefully this time!
*(turned into a real slow build, really wish I hadn't waited but I had to get the ram from newegg on account of amazon's lovely mislabelling... and being out of the kind needed after returning that, meh... realized I was gonna have to underclock it and since gskill switched to skhyn for its new modulus, had no guide or program for the timings at the time... thus put it off lol)

@RogerWilco99 Cause they gotta win capitalism by the quarter. You can't win unless you get ALL the money... by the quarter. Dunno what happens if you don't win, but been seeing a lot of companies throw themselves into the garbage the last 20 years, much more so the last 10, in the pursuit of getting ALL the money... short term. This is to a point that would make Rockefeller, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, JP Morg... all ruthless capitalists who would step on anyone in their way, in the name of building their empires, these guy's would be rollin in their graves if they hadn't owed the bones to satan... I feel like there might be something supernatural goin on in the speculative market that maybe us poors don't know, cause these twats go ham like a wrecking ball (or a junkie) in the pursuit of this tiny short term hollow win...
Granted there are so many things in place that they themselves never really suffer in person, and they may be immune to shame (doesn't explain why they try so hard to win though...) Eventually given these safety nets come from the real money, things, people land... like it's gonna drain that to a point where someone might have to start handin out some peasant cake, but seems like until that happens this is just gonna be how it is... at least until we start demanding proper fruit pie, or pound cake instead of this angel food fluff they keep trying to feed us (and we buy, both happily, ideologically, and even worse... begrudgingly)

The complete text chat was for sure not with people that actually work at Newegg, but a chat centre (the text equivalent of call centre) in India or PH reading from a script, who have a company-centric, customer-hostile incentive system. They aren't going to actually escalate things to head office, they're afraid they get penalised for "not doing their job". This is why there was no tracking number, stock replies, spelling errors in every word that isn't part of the the stock reply template, no confirmation that he's speaking to the superior, minute long pauses (you think each worker only serves one customer at a time?) barely a grasp of what the customer says, no logical continuity with things said a few lines ago, etc. This is why they wouldn't call him back on the phone - because if they did so from a remote location and with their limited and recognisable English, it would have been VERY obvious he's not speaking to Newegg.

I had a horrible experience with Newegg back in 2019. I bought a Radeon VII, it literally was going to be my first brand new graphics card I’d ever had in my 7 years of PC gaming at that point, let alone a higher end current generation card.
Well needless to say it didn’t show up. When it was “delivered” I was literally sitting in my living room in clear view of the front door/patio when I got the notification. I’ve had it happen in the past a few times with Amazon, where it’d sometimes eventually show up 1-3 days later. So I waited 3 days and it didn’t show up, I contact support and they tell me I have to fill out police report with my local police department for package theft and send it to them. They said because the item was over $500 they required it, I paid $599. Never had to do this with Amazon even with a more expensive item, it seemed ridiculous given my $5000+ purchase history with Newegg from 2012-2019 and the fact that I was by the front door the whole day it was “delivered,” if someone stole it I would’ve seen it.
But whatever, I fill out a police report online through my police department, get a digital report, email it to Newegg. A few days passes and they reject the claim. I call the officer assigned to my report and have him fill out a detailed report and he leaves all his contact info in the new report. I send the new report to them, again rejected a few days later. I then go into chat where they basically tell me there’s nothing they can do, they won’t send a new card, they won’t refund, they won’t even give me store credit. I call, get the same crap. At this point it’s now ~2 weeks after it was “delivered.”
I didn’t want to have to do a chargeback so I planned on waiting another week, well fast forward ~3 more weeks I come home from work and there’s a Newegg box on the porch. I check the tracking code on the box and it matches the original one. So idk if UPS lost it, or it was misdelivered and the person took forever to give it back to UPS or what. But needless to say at that point I was bitter with Newegg for basically implying I was a liar and that I was lying to the police for a report which is a crime. So I ripped a supervisor a new one on the phone until they offered a full refund to my credit card. Because at first they said they wouldn’t take the return because it’s past 30 days and then they offered store credit, until eventually the supervisor did the full refund.
I, like Steve, preferred to give Newegg my business over Amazon as long as the price wasn’t more than a couple percent higher because I had such nostalgia for the site and their past customer support. Well since the ordeal I haven’t bought a thing from Newegg since, I literally just use it to find parts because the site is more organized and then buy everything from Amazon even if it’s more expensive (which is rare.) I will literally wait for something to come in stock on Amazon even if Newegg has it.

Walmart did the exact same thing with me. I bought a 75" TV there as I was already buying some other stuff there and it was on sale. I got it home and it was the wrong brand, including none of the hardware, and the screen was broken. I called and they said they'd accept my return. I went back in and they called me a liar and a crook. I then called corporate and they said they'd resolve it and call me back. They never called me back. Finally, I called them back and they said I had to have been at fault.

My experience with them: I ordered a set of RAM from them for a new build. They were marked "delivered" and immediately they filed their own RMA for the item and said I returned them. All without ever speaking to me. I at least got my money returned, but they falsified the RMA stating I requested it. I looked at their website and saw the product was out of stock. So basically, they lied about shipping it. The tracking information was fake. And then they covered it by claiming I returned it.

Oh no, I am currently waiting on a GPU that was "delivered" to my residence today. I don't have it and their suggestion is to check around my residence and ask neighbors if they got it by mistake. Seeing as I live in a 4 unit apartment building and the other 3 tenants speak little to no English, and I speak little to no Spanish, that makes asking them if they got a package containing a graphics card a little difficult. So I go to file a claim saying I did not get my package and am stopped at the submit button by a message saying that it may take the carrier an additional 1-2 business days to deliver my item. Fingers crossed I get my card that I've already overpaid for and don't end up with just a refund.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me. I received an Asus ROG Maximus Hero Z690 with the upside down capacitor.
Told Newegg of the problem, working motherboard, like it, but it is being recalled. They say they will accept it back at the same time all of this is going on for you. I return it, and told the RMS was rejected for a bent pin. I told them it was working fine when I sent it back. I just didn't want it to catch fire in my home, and wanted help with the recall. No luck, no recourse.
    Never buying from them again.

Will it though? I feel like even if every single person this happens to contacts them it isn't really going to illicit any sort of response from a government agency. Especially because it's state run, not federal. There's maybe a couple dozen people from each state that maybe has been taken advantage of by NewEgg. They'd probably send an email asking about their return practices, NewEgg will reply with something that sounds reasonable, and within the law, CPA will reply "Okay cool." and that'll be that.

I thought Ok, it happens - I found a good price and moved on. BUT THEN to find out that the GPU (SAME SKU that I ordered) went back to available but only at $500 more than what I paid AND WITHIN 12 HOURS after my cancelled order for being out of stock... Years ago, I ordered some RAM from them to fix some person's PC, but they had recently started doing the thing that Amazon does where they have sellers listing product on the New Egg site. These sellers sent the RAM in a plastic bag, no padding in the USPS. Of course the RAM didn't work, and they were an overseas company and refused to do anything about their own shipping mistakes. It was clear then that I never was going to buy from one of their sellers, because they just didn't have the same oversight as Amazon does.

Their prices quit being competitive with other sites with Amazon beating them out 80% of the time, and that 20% it was a wash because free shipping with prime. Their Black Friday sales the last several years have either been utter jokes to outright scams on pricing and products. It’s all hilarious. From claiming bent pins, to then arguing there was thermal paste present. Not only is thermal paste easily washed up by rinsing the board even with plain water and just letting the board dry, if it was an open box item they clearly are aware they do not properly clean open box items before sending them.
I don’t buy often from new egg, mostly because most of what I want is similar priced on Amazon and Amazon support has always been top notch with me, even sometimes refunding me with very few questions asked before I even sent the item back. Seems like an easy way for Amazon to lose money, but it builds a lot of trust and often keeps the customer happy and still buying off their site.
This whole situation is incredible frustrating.

I got lucky and went back literally an hour after I got home with the product and they gave me 0 issues in returning it. Basically, went to a buy a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master, open box. It was marked as "complete" though, and they even dropped the price by around $50 due to the box being open. I'm expecting it to be in good condition because, well, the box was labeled "Condition: Complete. Like new." I get home to find bent HD Audio header pins, bent fan header pins, and bent USB 3.0 header pins. On top of that, there was only the motherboard in the box. No screws for the M.2 drives, no heatsinks for the M.2 drives, no SATA data cables, no wifi antenna, no manual, no locking tab on the PCIe x16 lane... not a single accessory that's supposed to come with the motherboard was in the box. I’d always heard horror stories about Newegg. I had decided I’ll never buy from them again after they shameless started pawning off exploding PSU’s on unsuspecting customers and now this just cements it

With giant competitors like amazon, you'd think newegg would understand they can win through good customer service. Guess not. RIP Newegg. Micro Center is my new friend. (I don't work for MC BTW)

Sony/Playstation does the same thing they'll allow people to make 1,000s of purchases while suspended but won't let people refund anything while suspended and then people contact support and they just get told that they are suspended and won't refund your money and won't tell you why you are suspended and also you still can't transfer ps5 saves thru usb PS: Newegg I always saw as a scam almost always excessive prices and always charging shipping on anything to alaska

Yea hopefully the lower level employees that dealt with Steve don’t specifically get in trouble. They were just following the bogus policies the company itself put in place.

7:30 I have a tip Ive learned when dealing with support at times like this. When they say "I'll have to contact someone by email, whatever", say "would you mind if I stay on the line while you write it, to make sure my concerns are represented". It should only take a minute right? So you kind of confirm they actually DO IT and dont immediately forget. There is no easy way for them to answer that other than just saying no, so then you request a different option still.

vids like this are why i love Steve and GN. They don't WANNA do vids like this, but when a company forces their hand, they always look out for the consumer and tell us the truth when they could easily opt for some kind of "good will" deal with these company's after they realize who they're dealing with.

I appreciate Steve for having the integrity to still move forward with this video even after being refunded. I'm sure Newegg would have been happier to throw money and/or resources at him, a point he knows but still has too much integrity
