Wow this guy is really spectacular. After winning an Olympic Gold, he goes around congratulating all the participants. It should be other way around! Respect for this homie
Gravity I always felt a bit of camaraderie in track, especially after a race like the 400m. It's so draining, you can't help but look at the guy next to you after the finish and think "man, that was hell."
Its a bit unfair to attack him for that, he just forgot one person. It really isn't the end of the world and doesn't change the fact that he is a class athlete in both running ability and his attitude towards the sport and his competitors
Yeah man Big Up Kirani. You made us here in the Greenz proud on that day we had a mass.We will be backing you no matter how much you come Kirani(We want gold). But at the end of the day you representing #473.Big up the big man Kirani
omg looking at this race again and just as nervous then excited as I was when I looked at it live. Grenada to the world!!!! we're so very proud of Kirani.
+Caden Collins I have a mate who goes to my school, hes 15 and he runs 48.47 in 400m and hes only 15 turning 16 this year... He's Australian Junior champion
Kirani James is really great sportsman with good sportsmanship. In the semi-final he exchanged names with Pistorius, but in final he pays respect to everybody. That's why I really respect him.
Still running after 12 years at top level. I have seen all of his races live. Hoping to witness another gold medal winning performance. One of the finest athlete and human being.
ran a 52.7 beginning of sophomore year before track started then broke my right leg. Broke my left leg junior year. Now I'm sitting here in the summer and can't do anything for at least another 2 months. So long track and field...
Watching this I 2019 after World Championships. Can't WAIT for Mr James to be back fit for the Olympics next year. Kirani James, World Champ GARDINER, KERLEY, NORMAN & world record holder VAN NIEKERK going for gold! 😀👌 HAS TO BE the race of the 2020 games!
It'll be tough for Kirani to defend his title with the likes of Lashawn Merritt, Van Niekerk et al. I think the field in Rio will be even deeper than Beijing '15
Never thought I’d see a 400m Olympic final with no Americans, especially since they swept the podiums of the previous two Olympics. Very strange but seriously well done Kirani.
oh wow, twins both in an olympic final. I wonder if theyre doing some type of test on them if they have different training regimens to see whats optimal.
+Aqua106 im 6203498,3984,234234,234 nanoseconds old. my left leg is a black hole and my right intestine is a left intestine. 15 humans to my left of the upper cortex. when i run a 430m, i do it in 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 seconds. i break the speed of light in hffffffflal and then we all die but only when we simmer
Yes I did I believe that was his first race in around 3 years on the track, he was ready to run, but was not in full form. Look at the prefontaine classic in oregon with was around 1 month before the Olympics. Merrit beat Kirani, as well as having the worlds leading time going into the Olympics by a huge margin. Merrit was ready to get to his peak, unfortunately he strained his hamstring right before the Olympics.
Funny how Lalonde is my cousin but that went out the window cuz best believe im backing my country. I had full faith that Kirani had this. He's been amazing from secondary school
ok. i don't believe kirani has reached his peak yet. his best is yet to come. tune in to the world champs in a few months to see merritt come up shprt once again to kirani
There's a sophomore in my high school's track, who ran a 49 second 400m his freshman year, just soaring ahead of everybody else, it's really astounding to watch him run. We're all expecting him to shoot for the Olympics.
Mike Willan there was a kid in my division in high school from a different that ran a 49 his freshmen year but never improved that time. Do you know how hard it is to improve a time that fast. A senior this year in the state meet ran a 50 and his freshmen year and improved it to a 49 in the state race. Not dissing the kid but that great but it is hard to improve a time that fast
You mean the same MJ who (on the day before this final) said that Kirani wouldn't be able to run sub-44s until he improves his technique? For Kirani James to prove a legend like Michael Johnson wrong shows how much of a prodigy he is and how much he has to offer over the next decade.
Depends on what level you are at and what the talent is like around you. I currently run track in college. Back in 10th grade I was running high 52 sec. splits in 4x4 relays, which is definitely above average IMO. 55 to 56 secs would definitely be respectable for open 400. Pacing it depends on your level of conditioning. Some can sprint a full 400 but others aren't that conditioned. I have followed this format: Sprint first 100, stride out the next 150 and then kick the last 150.
@EJ..I still stand by my comment. Kirani has mileage and age on his side. Only a matter of improving his technique and being more aggressive till he become's the record holder.
Wow this guy is really spectacular. After winning an Olympic Gold, he goes around congratulating all the participants. It should be other way around! Respect for this homie
Da Boss ๙บ
Man.... this is a sportsman spirit 😘✌️🏃♂️🏃♂️.....
He is such a lovely person.
What a classy guy!
Seemingly he forgot Solomon haha😀
It was so nice to see James shaking hands with the other runners after his win before celebrating. I've never seen this. He's a true sport. Respect!!
He gives everyone a high five. That's class right there. You don't see much of that
Gravity I always felt a bit of camaraderie in track, especially after a race like the 400m. It's so draining, you can't help but look at the guy next to you after the finish and think "man, that was hell."
Wrong! He didn't acknowledge the white guy (Australia). 👎
Haha I noticed that too, maybe he looks invisible.
Its a bit unfair to attack him for that, he just forgot one person. It really isn't the end of the world and doesn't change the fact that he is a class athlete in both running ability and his attitude towards the sport and his competitors
An outstanding career by Kirani James with his recent silver at the worlds 10 years later! -kudos to a class act...
I love how Kirani congratulates everyone else after he wins, good sportsmanship
Come on Kirani make Grenada proud 🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩
Silver medal, but congrats to van niekerk! 43.03!
+TXV1300R head can't actually complain after their magnificent run from him
Grenada ❤🇬🇩🇬🇩
we are so proud of you Kirani. Grenada a small island producing wonderful athletes
Yeah man Big Up Kirani. You made us here in the Greenz proud on that day we had a mass.We will be backing you no matter how much you come Kirani(We want gold). But at the end of the day you representing #473.Big up the big man Kirani
That is just incredible that THREE teenagers competed in this final..!!

omg looking at this race again and just as nervous then excited as I was when I looked at it live. Grenada to the world!!!! we're so very proud of Kirani.
Five athletes from the Caribbean! I love that! :o)
Congrats to Kirani. Great run!
This young man has many great years ahead of him.
Amazing, James comes from an island with only 124K people and wins Gold 2012, Silver 2016, and Bronze 2020
And silver 2024
@@alanp.lopezc.7753mmm no he made final but did not get a medal still spectacular to make 4 finals
this still gives me goosebumps!
Anything below a 52 for highschool is a very good time
+Caden Collins I have a mate who goes to my school, hes 15 and he runs 48.47 in 400m and hes only 15 turning 16 this year... He's Australian Junior champion
Lol well no duh. I run a minute flat and I'm 15
Well actually in Grenada we finish highschool at 16.
head straight to 3:08... thank you
thanks bro
The commentator is legendry 🙌❤...... My favorite😍
This was our countries history our first Olympic record
Wow it was 10 years ago...
Imagine if he wins, would be one of the best careers in athletics history
Kirani you better come harder for the Olympics this year. Good luck and make Grenada proud
Scary that he was only 19 when he ran this. At 23 now, I expect him to be able to take the Gold again
Richard Bao yh ikr. I really want him to take the gold again
Doubt he will win this year, most likely silver or bronze. That dude who went 43.4 last year is a huge favorite this year
+JaeSprint but he doesn't look that consistent this year with his timed so kirani most likely has it in the bag already
+JaeSprint not only did he win, he also broke the world record! 43.03! He could be a man to break the 43 second barrier soon!
still brings tears to my eyes!!
Grenada!!
Will never forget this moment of history conhrats kirani
Kirani James is my favourite athlete by miles he just looks so nice
This man doesn't pay back oxygen debt tee hee. Proud to be Grenadian
Proud Grenadian 🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩
It's interesting to see as the distance get larger, the mens get skinnier.
Hahaha, TRUTH!!
This and now even 100 meter runners are slimmer.
Love this guy Kirani
Yes Grenada my home country we did it 1st time and we shock the world
And even more insane that one of them WON!!
ran a 52.7 beginning of sophomore year before track started then broke my right leg. Broke my left leg junior year. Now I'm sitting here in the summer and can't do anything for at least another 2 months. So long track and field...
+Jon Smith Maybe you should be more careful
And to this day he’s still always a podium medal threat. Total beast. One of the best quarter milers of all time
i still get butterflies in my stomach when I watch races like this. (I used to do 400s and 800s)
Watching this I 2019 after World Championships. Can't WAIT for Mr James to be back fit for the Olympics next year. Kirani James, World Champ GARDINER, KERLEY, NORMAN & world record holder VAN NIEKERK going for gold! 😀👌 HAS TO BE the race of the 2020 games!
don' forget the youngster Jnathan Sacoor. he probably won't win a medal but is bet you he wil go well onder 45s
Kirani James led the way for the rise of global 400 meter champions.
Kirnai James This Young Man Making Life Hard For Others In Track & Field...
It'll be tough for Kirani to defend his title with the likes of Lashawn Merritt, Van Niekerk et al. I think the field in Rio will be even deeper than Beijing '15
I'm actually considering using some of my savings to go to the Olympics and maybe witness this epic race. We will see a world record in Rio.
No you won't. Do you see the WR times?
#we gonna take it to them!
Ese Omoru OMG will you shut up. We get it already 😒
@@sway2000 Dang, if it isn't Nostradamus.
A man with attitude. Great example of sportmanship.
Never thought I’d see a 400m Olympic final with no Americans, especially since they swept the podiums of the previous two Olympics. Very strange but seriously well done Kirani.
I am 14 and my PR was a 58, but these guys are legends. I will look to them for inspiration
***** That was my middle school record of the season at Sectionals
I love how the winner goes to hug all his opponents after the race.
Your big brother Lebron must be proud of you!
not his brother, lebron's an only child...hes a cousin though
...Lol !!!
***** I think he's joking lol.

Kirani James... ROLL TIDE!!! NCAA Champion from the University of Alabama!
Lol, MJ's form is amazing! He has long strides, strong legs, stands staight up, 90 degree arm angles! All perfect :)
oh wow, twins both in an olympic final. I wonder if theyre doing some type of test on them if they have different training regimens to see whats optimal.
Wow Kirani James made it look so easy!! Very relaxed!
I think I enjoyed this the most! All Caribbean countries on the podium
agreed. kirani would have an even better time if he has more competition. so i wish for merritt to be around in the world champs this yr
1st Olympic gold medal for Grenada, I was so happy for them.
This is the Olympics you are not supposed to win by that much.......

Great run James
Kirani James won that race, and he looked like he had more to give. I can't wait to see what Mr. James can do at Rio.

Looking like a Carifta Final!
Go kirani 2024 back to gold
In my opinion, i think Kirani james will break the world record!
Why does everyone lie about their times on here? You prove nothing by saying a false time to strangers
53.09 400 :D not lie 11.43 100 23.47 200
Ok but at least that's believable. So many people in the comments "apparently" have times that would take them to the Olympics tbh
nah 400 is training is killer ım faster now about 11.25 in same condition
I ran a 43.21 once
My 400m pb is 47.15 not good enough to represent my country
wow nice effortless my favorite race 400 forever
Not often you see a sprint final without a US entrant. looks nice!
Congrats Kirani of Greneda
Not forgetting Lalonde Gordon of Trinidad and Tobago
Funny how Lalonde is my cousin but that went out the window cuz best believe im backing my country. I had full faith that Kirani had this. He's been amazing from secondary school

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but K James became the first non-USA athlete to break 44 seconds!
Hey I'm a 99 year old woman and can run the 800 in 40s. Reckon I can get it down to 36-37s with some better training, diet etc. Any tips?
+cold storage Carb load before a race, and make sure that you do a 6-hour warm up stretch before your race, as a 99-year old woman can sure get stiff
Well done sir
My fav singer is there... :) whooooo
Chris Brown?
he runs very weirdly and i wonder with time and money if they will be able to improve him cause his still very young and i think can defo be amazing
kirani's 20. 2 olympics during his peak, he won't lose any
I'm hoping. That would be pretty cool.
yes greenz to the worlddddddddd

he was also the world champion last year when he was 18....
