growing up i loved NickToons: Battle For Volcano Island. I had it on PS2 when i was younger. got it again on Ebay 5 years ago. still have it! love your channel man. this is the best channel for reliving nostalgia from our childhoods♥️
Not sure I agree with the "you can't get away with those kinda jokes today" sentiment that's commonly thrown around. One of the newer Nickelodeon shows, Big Nate has a lot of jokes that I'm really surprised made it on the air. If that's your kinda thing Matty, I recommend giving it a watch!
I actually was addicted to this entire series. I spent probably about 100+ hours into the forums of Attack of The Toybots. There was a ssbb type hype in the early days and it was a blast. Would love a resurgence of some kind. Akin to the Nicktoons 1 & 3
A game length is why i loved jrpgs and fighting games growing up. One was long story and tons to do, the other was endless fun. I also like platformers with collectables
I loved playing these games growing up. Yeah the gameplay was repetitive and simple but just seeing my favorite nicktoons interact with each other was fun.
Fun fact: The Wii version of Globs of Doom can actually corrupt your save file, I know this because this happened to my cousin's copy of the game on their Wii
I remember my dad getting me Nicktoons Unite when I was a kid big on Danny Phantom (STILL AM) and Nicktoons in general. It's not an amazing game but I still have great moments playing these games growing up
great vid, loved feeling all the melancholy of playing nick toons unite and always getting pissed to start all over every day because i didn’t have a Memory card. Love remembering we had to drain the games as kids cause there wasn’t many a year.
Your channel really stand out to me due to a lot of your games choices. In short, you don't always pick all the "biggest" games that you would expect from "serious" game fans. It's really neat to see someone with a good and interesting channel cover things like the licensed games you do. I'm not gonna see many of the other big youtubers cover Nicktoons games. Same with licensed anime games. Those may get covered, but you definitely are gonna cover all the many Dragon Ball and Naruto games. It's neat to see someone cover these and see if there's anything there. Oh, and, let's remind people that the real reason why I would not normally pay attention to these games is because they are _licensed_ games. It's not because they are "kids games" as you mentioned many would say. People somehow still seriously don't know the difference between something that is genuinely "for kids" versus something that is "for everyone" or "family friendly". Like you said, there's hidden dirty jokes in stuff like Spongebob.
As a kid I had a lot of fun with some of these, Unite and Volcano Island, there was also Party Blast on Xbox that was enjoyable, just had no story mode, it was a cool era in gaming.
Really cool concept and I had fun playing the first two games. First one was surprisingly eerie and quiet a lot of the time, it made the game feel like it had high stakes. I wish there had been more supporting characters and interactions. Also, the worlds got smaller in the second half, Jimmy Neutron only had the Goddard level, and FOP had three levels compared to Danny and SpongeBob’s four. Volcano Island was disappointing for dialing down the play style to two characters at a time but it was enjoyable enough. I liked the new additions they had and the island was a fun setting.
I have the DS versions of all four of the Nicktoons Unite games. The other half (Attack of the Toybots and Globs of Doom) had pretty different gameplay styles. Attack of the Toybots on DS happened to be a beat em up, with driving segments and first person view boss fights. Globs of Doom on the same console was a puzzle platformer. I thought these two were great though, not just because of the different play styles, but also having amazing spritework there and blending the 3d environments with 2d sprites was pretty cool, and Attack of the Toybots on DS had more playable characters from the obscure shows like Catscratch, El Tigre, MLAATR (although Jenny is also playable in the console versions) and having Zim be playable in this port (GIR was only playable in the console versions, but he is a hidden character in that port. He had to be unlocked by getting those portraits from the driving segments, or completed a game of multiplayer)
Marty’s depiction in the Retro Rebound thumbnails looks like the “wyd if this guy smacks your girls ass in the club” memes. Just throwing that out there LOL
I never knew there were more nicktoons games other than unite. I rented it from blockbuster back in the day, and got stuck on a boss I can’t remember- never bought it so I’ve never beaten it but I was a HUGE fan of X-men legends so I loved the game. On another note, god I miss when games came with full color manuals
Why weren't PS2 modchips popular in the US and Canada? Here in South Africa, everyone had a modchipped PS2, so we could buy burned DVD copies of games for like 50 Rands (equivalent to about $8 at the time). So i was getting a new game like every 2 weeks.
The second half of your comment is the answer to your question. Sony doesn’t want people doing that because that means they don’t make any money off of pirated discs. Since NA is one of their biggest markets, they crack down on that more here. (Distribution of said discs isn’t exactly legal either)
@carlclo2988 It wasn't legal in South Africa either. These pirated copies weren't being distributed by big retailers, we had to buy them from these small Chinese-owned tech/repair stores, that we heard about through the grapevine. It was the same in the US and Canada. These services were just as easily available (i have relatives in the US). Except there just wasn't much awareness of it within the general gaming public.
Also I miss the days of buying games from GameStop, playing them for a week or two, and selling them back if I didn’t care much about the game, and getting another one to explore. Almost like books
I would love to see a DS version review of these games, I remember playing those versions when I was a kid and they were incredibly different from the console counterparts
I would Love All The Nicktoons games to be remastered as well too. And Other Nickelodeon Games as well too. Like Spongebob Lights Camera Pants For The PS4 as well too
the gba version of attack of the toybots is the best version of it. who you rescure changes how you play the levels up until you have them all saved on the last mission
Every single generation ever. "They could never get away with this now" lol. Have we not seen what kids watch now? It's not even hiding the adult jokes.
The only one of these games i had was attack of the toybots for ps2 and i loved it. Good thing i was dumb kid because if i played it now, I'd be very disappointed lol
I remember me and a friend played the shit out of Battle for Bikini Bottom. We couldn’t beat the final boss bc our R2 button broke lmao. We eventually did beat it after getting another controller
Man, I remember being so stoked when I finally saved up enough money to buy a used copy of nicktoons unite on the gamecube. Thank god for that 7 day return policy. Am I right, Boys?
Could you possibly do the DS versions of these games in another video? I had the DS versions mostly and I used to enjoy them a lot, it would be really cool to see
Toybots was my favorite cause of being able to pick any character you want for all levels and secret characters, and the platforming. Globs of doom was horrible, but why wouldn’t they include Vlad and Prof Calamitus? Original syndicate members..
Hey, this video is nice and I’m glad there’s more people talking about this games, but this retrospective is kind of anemic. Despite how short most of these games are, something which you yourself put emphasis on, you left a lot of stuff out which leads me to believe you didn’t finish any of these games when you went to replay them. You don’t talk about any of the game’s bosses (or lack thereof in Toybots’s case), any of their finales, the four unlockable retro characters in Toybots, the bonus content in any game outside Unite, and really anything substantial about the levels and how they differ between the games (because they DO differ). I was especially disappointed at the Globs of Doom segment because all it got was a brief premise overview and more complaining about how the gameplay is the same when there’s so much to talk about with this game like how each boss is a mutated side character from the original shows or how it has a game-breaking bug that randomly deletes all your save data. I’m not gonna ask a thirty year old man with a life and responsibilities to play all these games to their fullest and cover everything, this video must have taken a long time to make already and I appreciate that, but as far as videos on the Unite series go, this is one of the worst I’ve seen. I will say, though, the complete in-box segments were fascinating. That is something you won’t find anywhere else and you went into thorough detail with them. Very much a worthwhile addition to the video and I really commend the effort it must have taken to track those things down.
I've played none of these but I can relate to the feeling of disappointment with finding a short game among a series of good good games. I felt this way with Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly. Finished it in a few hours and just felt sick. Spyro 2 and Spyro 3 were leagues above, beyond, and better than this one.
FINALLY, SOMEONE ELSE REMEMBERS THESE GAMES!!!
Nick Tunes Unite had me in a nasty chokehold as a kid lmfaooo.
Bro this is exactly how I feel.
Scott the Woz did lol
TRUEEEEEEEE 😂😂😂❤
I know
Battle for volcano island was my first video game ever and I wouldn’t change it for anything
growing up i loved NickToons: Battle For Volcano Island.
Yo big Nate is legit
I'll take character interactions in crossovers any day, it's why Brawl will always be my favorite smash game.
I actually was addicted to this entire series. I spent probably about 100+ hours into the forums of Attack of The Toybots. There was a ssbb type hype in the early days and it was a blast. Would love a resurgence of some kind. Akin to the Nicktoons 1 & 3
Man, volcano island took me months to get through! Admittedly I was tiny and only allowed to play on the weekends
Playing through some of these games with you was surely… something. So much potential with the crossovers but executed horribly.
A game length is why i loved jrpgs and fighting games growing up. One was long story and tons to do, the other was endless fun. I also like platformers with collectables
Great memories growing up with Nick Toons UNITE. Maybe one day well see something akin to that game return
I loved playing these games growing up. Yeah the gameplay was repetitive and simple but just seeing my favorite nicktoons interact with each other was fun.
They need to put these games on modern consoles now
Fun fact: The Wii version of Globs of Doom can actually corrupt your save file, I know this because this happened to my cousin's copy of the game on their Wii
I just clicked on the video and I already know this is gonna be PEAK. Thank you for spotlighting these games 🙌
I remember my dad getting me Nicktoons Unite when I was a kid big on Danny Phantom (STILL AM) and Nicktoons in general. It's not an amazing game but I still have great moments playing these games growing up
Unite was so much fun. It was x men legends but for nick. Amazing.
battle for volcano island was my absolute favorite game as a kid, so glad other people remember these lmfao
great vid, loved feeling all the melancholy of playing nick toons unite and always getting pissed to start all over every day because i didn’t have a Memory card. Love remembering we had to drain the games as kids cause there wasn’t many a year.
Your thumbnail guy is A tier Matty
This was the first multiverse crossover that I ever seen.
Absolutely you can’t have a retro gaming channel without remembering the THQ Nicktoons games.
Remember SpongeBob Employee of the Month?
Really miss games like this. This is also making me want to go through all my old game cases.
Nicktoons glob of doom was my very first PS2 game. Thanks for giving it the spotlight!
I absolutely adored these titles when I was a young boy! But I only played the first one & didn’t get pretty far… but thanks for bringing this up! 😁😀
I loved battle for volcano island growing up. Only ever played it at a kid's quest in vegas so I didn't know I always got right to the middle of it.

Out of all of them i have Attack of the toybots me and my younger brother played this a lot and loved it. Glad to see a video on it
Recently achieved a World Record on one of these games cool to see people are still talking about them!
I fondly remember playing Rocket Power: Beach Bandits and the Jimmy Neutron/Jet Fusion game on PS2. Beach Bandits in particular was exceptional.
Love these thumbnails Matty 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
As a kid I had a lot of fun with some of these, Unite and Volcano Island, there was also Party Blast on Xbox that was enjoyable, just had no story mode, it was a cool era in gaming.

I loved playing Globs of Doom with my cousin when i was younger
Lights camera pants is so good
nick unite is such a good game, so many good memories playing it as a child
Thank you for unlocking a core memory
Marty’s depiction in the Retro Rebound thumbnails looks like the “wyd if this guy smacks your girls ass in the club” memes. Just throwing that out there LOL
My mom bought me most of these before she passed man just the thumbnail brought me back
I never knew there were more nicktoons games other than unite. I rented it from blockbuster back in the day, and got stuck on a boss I can’t remember- never bought it so I’ve never beaten it but I was a HUGE fan of X-men legends so I loved the game.
On another note, god I miss when games came with full color manuals
They may not have all been good but I sure loved them as a kid
Matty you should go through all the old Scooby doo games. Night of 100 frights was one of my favorite games growing up!
I loved this game as a kid, but I couldn't help but watch spongebob continuously get his ass kicked while you were talking lol.
These games were my entire life as a kid on the PS2. I’ll always love them, the new NASB2 campaign reminds me of these games a bit
Attack of the toybots and batlle for volcano island on the gba was fire
I remember really loving battle for volcano island I'd love if it got a rerelease

THIS IS IT, THE VIDEO I'VE WAITING FOR
I need a remake of nick toons unite that was MY CHILDHOOD
They REALLY need to remake those games!!
And you spelled Amity Park and Fenton wrong.
Volcano Island and Globs of Doom are my favorite
Also I miss the days of buying games from GameStop, playing them for a week or two, and selling them back if I didn’t care much about the game, and getting another one to explore. Almost like books
Volcano island and globs I of doom were games I played religiously
Do more nickelodeon games
I would love to see a DS version review of these games, I remember playing those versions when I was a kid and they were incredibly different from the console counterparts
I’m about to emulate some of these gems on the steam deck 😎
Battle for valcano island was fuckin gas
I would Love All The Nicktoons games to be remastered as well too. And Other Nickelodeon Games as well too. Like Spongebob Lights Camera Pants For The PS4 as well too
the gba version of attack of the toybots is the best version of it. who you rescure changes how you play the levels up until you have them all saved on the last mission
I’d love if you do a Tak and Power of Juju video! Those games were super fun!!
BRO BATTLE FOR VOLCANO ISLAND IS MY FIRST HOME CONSOLE GAME 😂
Bro I literally just beat volcano islands yesterday then this is uploaded
Jimmy Neutron and Danny Phantom need a fourth season
Please do more of this!
Nick and THQ was a big part of my ps2 era
Great vid 😁
Funny because just about a week ago I was thinking about Nicktoons Unite, and thinking how it should get a remake.
Your games are in excellent condition
Every single generation ever. "They could never get away with this now" lol. Have we not seen what kids watch now? It's not even hiding the adult jokes.
THESE GAMES WERE FUCKIN AMAZING
The only one of these games i had was attack of the toybots for ps2 and i loved it. Good thing i was dumb kid because if i played it now, I'd be very disappointed lol
I remember me and a friend played the shit out of Battle for Bikini Bottom. We couldn’t beat the final boss bc our R2 button broke lmao. We eventually did beat it after getting another controller
attack of the toybots was soo hard
I would love to see you cover Jet Fusion. I played that game a lot when I was a kid.
20:05 looks like they learned from the last game
I heard globs of doom didnt sold well for ps2 and wii it was a disaster
Man, I remember being so stoked when I finally saved up enough money to buy a used copy of nicktoons unite on the gamecube. Thank god for that 7 day return policy. Am I right, Boys?
Nick Games Academy. What's that
YES FINALLY I LOVE THESE!! much love from Australia big fella 🤙🏼
Love these retrospective vids u should do disney games next lol
In my opinion Attack of the toybots DS ver. Is a lot better than the console ver.
Could you possibly do the DS versions of these games in another video? I had the DS versions mostly and I used to enjoy them a lot, it would be really cool to see
No more Spongebob or Fairly Oddparents
I hear by demand Nicktoons Unite Re-Tooned Edition
Toybots was my favorite cause of being able to pick any character you want for all levels and secret characters, and the platforming. Globs of doom was horrible, but why wouldn’t they include Vlad and Prof Calamitus? Original syndicate members..
I want a 5th entry so bad. I want it to be like Marvel Ultimate Alliance where it has a bunch of characters we can choose from.
8:23 nice flex 💪
What I'd do for a proper nicktoons beat em up done by LizardCube or Tribute Games.
Goat
Yay😊
We need X-Men Legends video! And Sudeki video. And L. A. Noire video.

Greetings from Honduras, it would be great to do a remembering Danny phantom games, or Re 2 or 3 remakes too.
Amityville? It’s Amity Park lol. But I can’t blame you for mispronouncing a town. Plus these are one of my favorite video games.
I bought a lot of “new games” from game stop. I looked back at the site and it turns out everything new says New condition… so technicality
These are serene and joh-eun (good) lost memory I don't remember this.
이것들은 고요하고 좋은 잃어버린 기억입니다. 이것은 기억나지 않습니다.
You forgot the one for the Didj.
The Avengers crossover before the Avengers crossover.
Finally!! Yesss!!
