I think in terms of new console players. I think Blaze with the Evercade Vs is the closest we will get. Sure it's got ROM cartridges, but it also has bespoke or games created just for the hardware, like the Indie Hero carts.
I would actually like to know what Jeff's wife thinks of the game since she is a long time fan. For me, the writing is markedly worse than the other games, but everything else is actually really good...
I've taken a good number of car seats apart in my day, I have two kids. They should make deconstructing and reconstructing car seats a puzzle in video games.
If games like Backpack Hero or Keep Driving are anything to go on, there's totally a place for a game where you have to assemble car seats and wrangle your kids for a road trip or something.
I wish I could like Veilguard, but the writing is so terrible it drags the whole experience down. The fact that talking to people is my least favorite thing to do in a BioWare game is a huge red flag.
To the person who asked what real world living person was featured in video games: My answer is Tiger Woods. Go look up how many annualized games he had alone, then conciser he was in countless other golf games.
If I were Sony I would have gone the other direction as no one is asking for more a more powerful PS5, they're asking for a cheaper PS5, that is where their biggest potential market is. I would have taken the disc-less slim PS5 and just put the price to £249 and bundled in a month subscription to try and lock them into paying per month.
I don't think GTA 6 even needs to run significantly better on a pro. People will still buy it in large numbers because the GTA hype is going to be astronomical.
I can't imagine Rockstar gives anything that could feel remotely substantial to GTA5 players moving to GTA6. They've repeatedly shown they couldn't care less about the active players that are currently paying them. I predict at launch when people ask about character transfers, they'll say GTA5:0 isn't going away and you can keep playing it(because of course you can for the months/year it takes for 6 Online to get a player base.) They'll get you an exclusive car variant or paint job and maybe an outfit as a nod to Los Santos if you use the same Rockstar account and it has GTA5. If they are feeling extra generous they'll let you "import" your character as a base to create your new character off of. They know all the people that would care about their GTA5:O progress are buying 6 no matter what so why bother spending time on making stuff transfer or their experience smoother. If it's as terrible at launch as everyone expects then just make Shark Cards give you money in both GTA5 and GTA6 Online for the first few months.
@@SB-ln6kb I agree on the likely age of writer probably of Gen Z or maybe a self-proclaimed “hip” millennial. But even though some characters in old Dragon Age games like Origins had some quippy characters, those characters also had depth. And that is probably the worst offense I can throw at the characters in Veilguard - they are all shallow and lack any sense of mystery. The party’s “quarrels” are equally shallow and are resolved by rook talking to them like children. Older games like Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, or early Mass Effect games would ever insult the intelligence of their audience like this game does. And that is probably the baseline of all the problems with the story - it’s delivered like a children’s book and rarely has any real depth or sense of danger to pull the player in. It’s superficial. And all of that doesn’t even touch on the fact that whoever wrote this is clearly airing out their emotional baggage that is better fit for a therapy session on the hardships of being transgender.
44:21 awe yes the already heclean effort to get a game on running on 50-5000 different spec pcs, now game devs are expected to properly support the software that hackers and pirates love the most

I'm a proud PS5 owner, you won't find a bigger PlayStation Enthusiast than me. And I have no interest in the PS5 pro. Mostly because all the games that I am interested in run at 60fps. And the graphical Fidelity of those games is just fine for me. The boost in fidelity to the pro just isn't near the over $800 it would cost me to get the pro, drive, and stand. All of which I need. And yes Jedi Survivor runs great on consoles now in performance mode, they released a newer patch which removed the ray tracing in performance mode
i don't think dragon age is aimed at me, because i'm not tired of superheroes, i was never into them to begin with (except for like two or three of those movies that were pretty fun), and to me at least, the entire thing looks like a superhero game: the art style of the entire game, the plot, and the dialogue. i do like it when longer games occasionally stop and make sure that you remember what's going on, though. dragon QUEST xi was really good at that. and the Like a Dragon games usually have kiryu or ichiban go like umm, who are you again and oh right, that's what we were doing, at least a few times per game.
They could never charge you $1,200 for a ps5. But they can get you to buy a PS5 and a PS5 pro and spending over 1,200. Look at what you are doing, players. You look silly if you aren't covering games professionaly and you buy this "mid-gen refresh" IT'S A SCAM
Jeff if the Wednesday content isn’t doing numbers and you think you should be out there on other podcasts more, why not focus doing that on Wednesdays instead?
damn! First Star Wars Outlaws now Veilguard. What happened to the critiques here, Jeff? You're easily impressed on garbage but then you work your signature criticism on so many other games. You've been doing this for decades and were helpful in my gaming purchases over the years but it feels like lately you have gotten pretty soft.
Most massive RPGs don't show their biggest issues within an hour or two of playing, and I doubt he's playing super far into them. Also I don't think he's a big Dragon Age fan/purist to being with, so he probably doesn't care that it's not like the previous ones (as seems to be the case with a lot of reviews it's getting)
If you already think they're garbage, then why do you need his take? And obviously him not hating them isn't changing your opinion, so what's the problem?
