As an African American kung fu practitioner, this song inspires me every day. It demonstrates what a man who takes responsibility for himself and decides to shape his own fate can accomplish.
This is the song of my people! This version is especially nice because there's a nice chorus or singers singing it, which sounds like all Chinese people uniting to defeat the common enemy.
This song, in my opinion, conveys the true spirit of one being a better person building strength and character with drive and deep dedication and determination. By learning to prepare oneself to face the great storms and perils of life, we must overcome. We are all brothers and sisters striving toward a better day.
@l3artman being someone who gives a lot of time to attempting to learn the traditional chinese arts, I can definitely see where you come from. I owe the Chinese alot for what i have learned so far.
I am white British and through my love of this song I learned to sing it in Cantonese. Then I went to live in China. On my 2nd day I met a Kung Fu master, Master Liu and we walked through the park singing this. I have since learned to sing it in Mandarin and speak pretty good Mandarin and I've sung it many times to Chinese people who have loved the effort I put into it. I have the same lyrics in the same image file as in this vid. PM with ur email and I'll send it. Nan Er Dan Zi Qiang!
The cantonese version is called "Naam Yi Dong Ji Keung",meaning "A Man of Determination".It's the opening song in Jet Li's Once Upon A Time in China, that's why many people call it Wong Fei Hung.
love the wong fei hung movies! i have the box set of once apon a time in china and its no other than jackie chan that sings this at least on the first movie!!!....thanks for posting it....and did you know that action director Yuen woo ping who himself is a kung fu master in his own right well his kungfu masters master was wong fei hung who also tought lam sai wing or butcher wing so called because he was a butcher by traid and not a psycho lol
I really love THIS version of the song...the drums are awesome and different than other versions I've heard. Where did you get this version? I'd like to get it!
Very good idea!! Imagine if this song becomes China's national anthem and they play it at the Olympics every time one of her athletes wins gold! WoooHoooo!!
if you look around i think that for some reason his name got translated incorrectly. while if you do the pinyin translation you get huang, if you look around on the interenet and other places you'll see that most of the time its wong... also this isn't nessissarily his "theme" and the song has its own name besides that
This is basically, the really epic version of this song that you would see in a movie where you see the many dozen students practicing their kung fu while following their master Wong Fei Hung, on the beach, while in the background there's the sunrise/sunset. oh wait.....that actually happened XD So love the epicness XD
i wonder how people came to find out this song? im asin so i hear this song alot from asin videos tapes of martial arts that my parents watch, so how did YOU hear this song?

@TheCurryCave Durrr. The song predates Wong Fei Hung, this version is sung in Mandarin, and Cantonese is still Chinese. Don't be pedantic.
So "Chinese" in this song only refers to Hans?
