The treasure Joseph found in Salem was at the Phillip's Library where he found his genealogy. The Phillip's Library is still there with sign-in books having Joseph's signature written a number of times. When we lived there, we gave tours around Salem pointing-out this, where Joseph stayed, where Erastus Snow had a suit made, where Brigham Young sent his daughter, Vilate, to be educated, etc. All still there. The city was about to tear-down the old Nathaniel Felt house next to the Museum until a sister in our ward discovered that Brigham Young's daughter lived there during her education, so the city kept the house and put a historical plaque next to the front door. There are so many Church history sites to see in Salem and Topsfield, Mass. that no one knows about, including beautiful Joseph Smith Lane, (which doesn't have a single member of the Church living on it). There were more treasures though: hundreds were baptized. However, when the saints moved west, these saints went with them. Today there's only a small handful of Saints living in Salem.
I feel like there are many lessons for our day in this! I especially loved what you said about the Salem witchcraft trials.... that in their zeal to be right they ended up persecuting each other. Something for us in our day (especially in the church) to beware of for sure!
All of these are so great! This one I particularly love. I want to sincerely thank you for your time, preparation, sacrifice and devotion. I am so very grateful for the inspiration and truths you both share. Thank you for adding light to the path and shining such a bright light towards the Savior.
I💖U my dear Eternal Sister. What you shared drew my attention to the scripture account of how some of Christ followers no more walked with Him… Be assured, They will watch🎁and seeing you apply the magnificent Witness Heavenly showered down upon us Will magnify her purpose & Joy going forward even w periodic thorns boulders. I was severely burnt over 65% of my body as a 20yr old. I’m 74 and See my Saviors Profound Love, Perfect LOVE Working in my Life & Future…I💖U Dear Eternal Sister🇺🇸
I can’t imagine how I’d feel if any of my siblings left the church, let alone all of them. My heart aches for you. I sincerely hope that your example will inspire them to return to the light. May the Lord bless and keep you.
Wonderful lessons and applications for us today. Love the music too. When we visited the Far West Historic site with the temple cornerstones, there was a cute senior sister missionary on her back inside the glass case cleaning the glass. So grateful for her service and sacrifice crawling into a small space so that we could look at the details of the cornerstones clearly.
I would love love LOVE You guys to put all your Take 5’s into a book!!!! Even better: a sticker book!! Every week I cut them out and put them next to my scriptures (I have the journal edition). I just think everyone would love it!!
Bless me to listen too Jehovah God 🙏 and Pray 🙏 for me to go to Church Sunday morning 🌞. I feel a lot better 😃 now. Bless us all with Stimulus checks soon. Clara Williams 😍 Epperson 😍
Thank you thank you. I just needed to hear this today. I am behind a week or two, but I think it was because it is Today that I need to hear the story of Thomas Marsh. I love to listen to your lessons as I read each Come Follow Me section of my scriptures.
My sister and I visited the Far West Temple Site at dusk more than 10 years ago. The sun had gone down, and there were hundreds and hundreds of lightning bugs sparking their lights off and on - mostly inside the perimeter of the temple foundation. What a beautiful sight and a testimony to us, without anyone else around, of the sacredness of that site and a testimony to us that the Far West temple will be built!!
I love that you say to sell the cow. Because it never was about the cow. It was always about pride, jealously, and anger. The milk was just a part of an offense taken. It if wasn't milk, it would have been something else said or done by someone else. I loved hearing his own words about analyzing why he left! I will definitely teach my children to be ware of comparing and jealously and watch for it in myself. I'm also so happy to hear the far west story of the temple cornerstone! I went there 19 years ago and I was on 21 years old. When I walked into the far west temple lot grounds I was OVERCOME by the Holy Ghost! I was astonished and didn't know why that was. It's an incrediblely sacred place. I knew right at that moment that one day it was surely become a temple built there. I want to learn more about it! Thank you!
Love the dedication and effort you take in bringing the scriptures alive for those of us who desire to better understand Jesus Christ's love for all of us.
Bless me and my Family to get close to God 🙏 bless me to pray more. Bless my dog 🐕 Max Miles 😊. Bless me to Graduate from High School 🏫🎒. Sarah Miles 😊
This was such a beautiful lesson!! Thank you both so much for sharing your knowledge & your testimonies! It’s such a blessing to learn from you, and feel the spirit testify of these truths.
11:35 “the only problem with that anti-Joseph Smith meeting is they invited Brigham Young to it and if I can just give anyone some advice it would be if you’re going to have an anti-Joseph Smith meeting don’t invite Brigham Young” looooooooooooool tru dat. love it
Twenty years ago I was visiting Salem and went to the Peabody Essex museum to see their exhibit on the Salem witch trials. As I walked toward the exhibit I had to walk through their featured exhibit. It was on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints. They had a visitors log with Joseph's signature from when he had visited that same museum. It had multiple documents including a letter from a traveling pastor to his congregations. He talked about how this new church followed Christ's original church traveling without purse or script, a prophet, and apostles. He spoke of aggressive efforts to stop the work that were unsuccessful and begged his congregation to not speak to the missionaries or else they would join the church. This document and that exhibit strengthened my testimony. I have always considered that experience my treasure in Salem.
I loved the info. about Joseph studying about the history of Salem and that the Pilgrims built it to become a New Jerusalem but in their zeal for being right they ended up persecuting each other. I was wondering if you could tell me where I can find more info about that? Where did you find your info? Thanks!

I love the stories you share on here! I’ve always loved church history but now I can’t get enough! David W. Patten is my relative. He didn’t have children of his own, but I come through his brother John’s line. He is truly my hero! ❤️
I wonder what is meant in D&C 111: 4 ".... and its wealth pertaining to gold and silver shall be yours." They didn't get that type of wealth there. Any ideas?
Is there anywhere else this is available other than youtube? My sisters in South Korea and the Wi-Fi on base isn't strong enough to broadcast. Is it on BYUtv or anywhere else?
I’m kind of curious, my great great great grandfather and my great great grandfather were named William Burgess. Makes me wonder if that was my relative…..
Tomas Marsh went to Utah where the greater population was of the English Isles. Those English did not go through the horrors created by the falling out of Thomas Marsh.
My ancestors came from Great Britain. Don't kid yourself, they might not have known Thomas Marsh but their journey was not easy and human nature being what it is, I'm sure others told them about him before he stood at that pulpit. His humility and the Spirit in the meeting won him the day.

I was in Salem this summer. I'm so sad I didn't know any of this. Thanks for your comment.
I toured there many years ago and had no idea! I got to see all the witch stuff, but would have loved to see all this Church history!
Thanks so much for sharing this. I had no idea about any of this. Love to learn about it
So good to know! Thank you!

I love Church history. The fact that the Church survived those early years is among the greatest of miracles. As always, thank you for the lesson.

What episode of the chosen are you in?
How very complete!
Are the lyrics to Jason's song listed somewhere? I keep trying to stop and start the video to write them down. 😄
It's called "Today is the Day" and it's sung by David Osmond. It's on Nashville Tribute Band's Missionary album.

I had this same question. Where can we find his speech on temple square when he wants to come back?
