  • This is the 5th song in "A Yeats Cycle" (the whole cycle may be seen elsewhere at this channel). I think I responded most obviously to the line "I would spread the cloths under your feet" and "I have spread my dreams under your feet" because my music here is about spreading - like the making of a quilt, or the growing of love. This cycle is dedicated to my wife, who is playing the piano.

    "Aedh Wishes For The Cloths Of Heaven"
    Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
    Enwrought with golden and silver light,
    The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
    Of night and light and the half-light,
    I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
    Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
