    Great to see Michael take Rands philosophy of $ and modernize it. His tireless effort in being a teacher and advocate of this globally accessible asset, which is based in freedom and decentralization, is going to be impactful the world over. Years from now I believe Michael will be regarded as one of the greatest and most impactful Titans in the space. His comprehensive, logical, consistent and articulate delivery of these principles is unmatched. Extremely grateful for his free education on this technology. The value of his effort is priceless!

      Does Rand make for some good reading? :)

    • @LibertyLuminary
      @LibertyLuminary 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rounddireflash Very much so. Her objectivist philosophy is the foundation within her novels. As such, they are very thought provoking fiction that have real-world value/application.
      My personal opinion is that she lacked consistency when it comes to applying objectivism to government. I’d characterize her espoused views to be similar to minarchism, which is a contradiction to natural rights/natural law.
      Overall her philosophy itself was sound. It is just her own inconsistent application of it [in this specific area] that I take exception with. Nevertheless, some very good reading.

    If Saylor believes that governments cannot (and will not) put controls on bitcoin he is deluded. A digital currency must be converted into fiat or it is just 'digital air'. And this conversion will always be subject to state interference. Crypto currencies will show themselves to be no less subject to arbitrary seizure by the state than other assets. The trick is to know which assets to own in which place and at what time.

      @hazadus3
      Saylor repeatedly reminds us bitcoin is not a currency, it's a store of value. It will replace gold because of perfect scarcity, speed and lower costs. Because it's decentralized there's no company behind it like with all the other crypto which all are Ponzi schemes. It is a truly unique, once in a millennium invention that cannot be replicated considering the current adoption level. Rand would have appreciated Satoshi's gift to the world as the ultimate gift with his talents to mankind. Something Rand acknowledged only very few manage succeed in doing.
      Saylor also points out dollar inflation. You can pay with dollars, have to, but you do not want to store value with those for the long term. He's not a smalltime huckster, he's a billionaire who has remained modest and he doesn't sell bitcoin, just recommends it with nothing but sane and rational arguments, despite being ocassionally poetic. If he'd be a crypto pumper he'd have sold his at 60.000 bucks a pop. He always chooses to HODL.
      Robert Breedlove has quoted Ayn Rand on money, it's abuses and the essay fits very well into the bitcoin philosophy.

    Money is not a fact of nature or some spooky metaphysical reality. Cryptocurrencies are just as imaginary as fiat currencies issued by central banks, and they come from "thin air," just like strikes at a bowling alley. Yuval Harari describes how this works in his book _Sapiens_ .

    • @distantyahoo

      yes and no. the monetary policy in the Bitcoin protocol is immutable. the same cannot be said for fiat. if enough people believe in bitcoins monetary policy than the fiat one it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
