Im starting an apprenticeship in the new year at my work, and a couple of months ago i bought a Pro Lite Day of the Dead edition, other than my devilbiss primer gun its my only one, so i have to use it for base coat and clear. We only really do car yard jobs at our small place, but the boss has been rapt with some of the finishes I've been able to get especially on bonnets. Which have to be my favourite thing to paint cos you can just smash it on and have very little chance of it running:)
One big difference and advantage of the GTI/Techna is that it is very efficient on material use. I say this in direct comparison to the DeVilbliss FLG3/4 which have the same tip/same needle interchangeability, yet not as many cap options. However I'm not dogging on the FLG series - they are dependable workhorses and will lay down sealer, tinted sealer, base, single stage, met/pearl, clear and clear with flakes or pearls with other guns at multiples of it's MSRP. I've ran both, and will have to change color for small jobs 75+ times a day at my shop, and I must add that both hold up beautifully to the abuse of multiple cleanings. Pro tips: Don't over torque the FLG tips, and DO NOT submerge the GTI/Techna in washing solution. Cheers gunnies.
The hv25 is the same cap as te25 on tekna clearcoat model. It is a hybrid design between hvlp and conventional. Same as te20 aircap the difference between The two are the te25 has narrow fan like sata I nozzle, and Te 20 is like o nozzle.
I love the Prolite. I have 3 of them. It’s my go to gun for basecoat (solvent I use TE10). One thin I absolutely hate about it though is the way it’s constructed. I don’t like the plastic shroud with a white paper gasket behind it. It’s just a pain to clean.
The price is currently only $550 USD from reputable sellers on eBay. That's the Digital uncrupped version with all three nozzles, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and dekups adapter!
I had a couple of DV 1 in my hands and I do like GTI or Tekna better because of the size and all air caps options. And, the price!!! Thank you for proved that!
Hi Walter! I'm still using a 2009 Devilbiss Tekna Xn for clearcoat but really want to get a new gun. How do you like the DV1? For whatever reason this popped up on my recommended list. I have enjoyed watching your videos. You have a new subscriber. Oddly enough, I worked in the paint department of the factory that built these Mazdas.
Gunman your spot on about the price of the pro Lite, DV1 and SATA. I'm a DIY painter and pro Lite is within my budget. Sata and DV1 are not. I'm also totally happy with my GPI. Bellaria is also a great value and performer. If I'm shooting for perfection it gets flow coated anyway. 👍
Have both a Pro-lite and DV1. The Pro-lite is lighter, is smaller and feels better in your hand and has a lighter trigger. Not to mention is better balanced. I should have just bought the blue (basecoat) Tekna.

i think it still too early to compare the gti pro lite to the dv1. Many years of developing going on on that gti pro lite!!! lets give at least 2 more years to this new gun and to Devilbliss to see what truly its capable off! My point its that many companies work with the te20 statndart finishing but with the time all are going to change to the dv1 and then its when other people(small/medium insurance retailers) are going to move on Aniway im just a furnirture sprayer using my gp1/gti and all this fuzz its all about you guys spraying cars!!!

The DV1 seems like a "Denali" version of a GMC truck. It does exactly the same thing. Just costs more. I'm an Iwata guy but was considering at least asking for a DV1 demo. I'm like you, I'd probably just rather have two Pro lite or 3 or 4 Bellarias
Thanks for the review...Sata in my opinion is a rep gun so a guy can say he has the best of the best. Devilbiss is for a guy that wants the best of the best so he can paint cars to his max potential. You know better than most any decent gun in your hand can do the job but which one holds you back the most? The Dv1 is trying to fill the Sata market place with designer style guns that look great and are over-priced and deliver less but still perform like the old equipment. I think it's a mistake too.
Lol. This is not........the greatest car in the world, This is just a tribute. Couldn't help myself 🤪🤣. Glad to hear some honesty, I was thinking it was gonna smash the pro lite out of the ball park. I'm just gonna buy 2 more pro lite' s and a few at caps instead to dedicate to clear and base. As usual, awesome vid.
One big difference that I think Devilbiss figured out that I haven't seen other gun manuf. do is on the DV1 the fluid tip has a smooth rounded shape that creates less turbulence in the air cap than all the other guns so far on the market so I think the technology/innovation/design has been improved and I personally do like the placement of the new digital gauge. However, I would still agree that with the pro-lite/tekna being cheaper, more versatile, and still able to produce the same results makes it a better "bang for buck" gun. I will say that personally I do like the DV1 base gun for base more than the pro-lite/tekna. It seems to spray more even and I seem to never have any over spray on the air cap after I'm done unlike some other guns. You could also get an Iwata with an Orange cap though that would be cheaper and is pretty similar to the DV1 base. I think Devilbiss has put a lot of effort into the DV1 series and I think they have made improvements and while I think the DV1 base is worth considering as a purchase, I think with so many clear guns on the market the DV1 clear might be something that you only need if you don't have a clear gun and you have the money to buy one. After owning many many guns from SATA 5000's, Devilbiss Pro-Lites and DV1, to Iwata Supernovas, I tend to gravitate to my Bellaria for replicating most orange peel on the market and it's less than half the cost of all the other guns.
That's a very interesting point. I have yet to use a spray gun and put it through it paces and not see some color on the air cap. But I do have a few guns I use for clear only so I don't know what to expect from them as it would be hard to tell just for that reason. Great observation !!!
If you wanted a gun to spray the best finish with best quality gun is it Supernova ? DV1 ? or a Sata ? mostly looking for finish quality and I do not like orange peal... Thanks in advance if Gunnman can give opinion.
I just bought DV1 base, and I am happy with it, but I am also happy with pro lite as well. It is the PPS 2.0 I dont like as much like I have the previus generation. IT WAS JUST FINE, AND DONT KNOW WHY THEY FORCED US TO MAKE CHANGES, IT ISNT ANY BETTER LIKE THE OLD SYSTEM!

Nice vid guny. Have you tried spraying basecoat with it ? And if so what do you think , I love the look and might buy just for that as crazy as it sounds lol
Haha, yeah I would have bought one too, but I haven't used it for Basecoat, it will work, I know it will but can't see it being any better than the DV1 B1 base cap, that thing is so good.
Hello Gunman..I have GTI Pro Lite with TE10 aircap and 1.2 & 1.3 fluit tip..Which fluid tip I shoud better to use for base and clear coat? I want to get flatest surface
Hi gunman, I actually subscribed to your channel because I worked as a scientist for a coatings company, and I wanted to see how customers used our products. The nerd in me would LOVE it if you could do a closeup video of the gun itself... maybe taking apart an old gun, or if we could get close up video of the atomization out of the nozzle. Anyway, I don’t know if that’s possible, but it would be awesome 😎 haha!
That's a cool idea, I would like to do that kind of thing with a better camera than the GoPro I use, I have got plans to get some really good quality recording gear, probably in around 2 years when I hope to have more time on my hands than I currently do, something to do in future I reckon. Could even do some ultra slow motion videos on the atomisation.
Great, honest and unbiased, review. I would love to have one, but as a DIY, it wouldn't be an investment; but it's most likely so much better than the $100 model I bought.😁😆
I just do casual DIY stuff, I was going to sell my Bellaria a get a pro lite, I'm just trying to get the smoothest finish I can so the air cap flexibility doesn't matter to me, I'd be looking at the TE 10 or T110. Is it even worth getting rid of my Bellaria for a pro Lite? The finish on the Bellaria is pretty damn good, it lays the clear pretty flat. Get rid of it and get a pro lite or keep rocking the Bellaria??
Always great unbiased reviews. Love em. Would love to have pulled the trigger on a pro lite. Really considered it but not quite in my current budget as a diy not painting for $$$. Pulled the trigger on the FLG5 1.4 TE-20 from sprayguns direct after watching many of your other videos. Can’t wait to put it use.
Hey Gunny, I'm not sure if you mentioned it in your review video on the GPI. But what prolite tip do you think compares to the tip that comes with it, you can assume from the consumption spec that it's either the te10 or the t110 I would think, but yeh just the fact you can get a 1.8 and a 1.4 makes it a good choice for me I think. But it would be nice to know which cap it actually is as they don't really tell you much about it in the specs.
i found this Devilbiss Tekna Prolite Pro's Choise Purple Haze LTD. Edition Spray Gun, I'm told this gun is now not is production. Would you consider this a good gun to own? I'm looking for a clear gun for non water base. Please respond. thanks
yep some of these new guns sata , devilbiss or iwata are to expensive the iwata lph 400 you can just change the air caps orange, purple or silver the teckna same thing without breaking the bank . from the reviews of both sata 5500 an dv1 while they are good guns its not worth spending that amount of money especially on the sata the caps way to expensive
Hello Gunny, Got a quick question. I recently picked up an Iwata Lotus gun and a Pro Lite. I’m shooting for an Aston Martin type finish. Flat and glassy. Which gun would you likely use for base, and which for clear? Both are 1.3, and the Pro has the TE 20. Thanks!
@@TheGunmanChannel totally agree pro lite for base, iwata for the clearcoat, after 35 years of using devilbiss I have a ws400 1.3hd what a difference for the lacquer, like the gunman we should replicate the original finish, great video as always
GTI pro lite vs Tekna pro lite?! What's the difference? I got the tekna pro lite laying in a cardboardbox since I bought it some years ago. Brand new, also the devillbis finish line which was intended for primers and such. Maybe someday I will be painting my mini. The original mini of course. Not that BMW bullshit so called "mini" blasphemy. =)
I just scored a new in box never used and none of the tips have had the seal broken pro for $110usd in the box lol. Been a while since I've made comments cause I got in a bad car wreck 3 years ago and shattered my kneecap and just got back at it 2 weeks ago.
So far with the universal clear we are using my lph400 is my go to and I'm using a gold cap super nova for collision base and sealer jobs and the lph400 with 1.4 for clear. I haven't found alot of guns for clear I like with lesonal universal clear but with other clears I love my devilbiss plus my tekna copper and my iwatas
Great video as always Gunny🤘 the only problem I can see with the pro lite is that it comes I way too many limited editions than I can afford and need🤣 but I want them all 🤔😖
Yeah go Pro Lite !! I have a question I struggle a bit with solvent pop , I shoot clear with about 10min flash off between them but i still get some problems ,not always could it be that I'm using to much thinners 15 - 20% ?
I get the same problem with solvent when I use the TE10 with clear, for me it was I was going to slow, want getting runs or anything just solvent boil right in whole panel sometimes. I started moving little bit faster got better. Kept the speed and tried moving back to a first and a thumb away rather than a fist away from the panels, and now my issue is gone. That was my problem the TE10 just seamed slower application than the te20 so I naturally slowed down and got in closer to keep it wet, and turned out didn't need to
Hey Gunman im putting together a setup for home hobby work i have a 3hp 11gal compressor am i going to be able to get that to work with a LVLP spray gun?
I was just looking on line for pricing on a Pro-lite, but there seems to be quite a few knockoff look alikes. How can I tell which is an original? Thanks in advance for any advice. 😁
Hey Gunny, love your vids, learning load, getting ready to buy my first ever Pro gun thanks to you, Pro Light and FLG5 for primer. I realize this is an older video but I'm just curious if you've seen the gti pro lites on ebay shipping from china for 100 usd , any chance those are the real thing or do you think they are just knockoffs
It's that any small wax, grease, oil etc contamination on the panel can result in an imperfection in the final finish, using wax and grease remover lowers the risk of that contamination.

Can you please please please make a review on the Finex FX3000? I've been looking at this gun for a while but I want that gunman stamp of approval!
Definitely get the Pro Lite and keep your Bellaria !!! Both awesome !!! Get the te20 air cap. T10 too wet. T110 too slow.
I would get the iwata lph 400. It gives the flattest clear finish possible. And they aren't that expensive. Look at some vids on the iwata lph400.
@@alconyers2003 another popular gun but I have not tried the Lph400 yet.
Can’t wait to put it use.
rcx
awesome video !!! I have both guns ;-)
Gunman sir It has been decided Pro or Pro lite for me.
Im a left hander sata 5000 RB mean gun awkward digital pressure and winding fluid in and out for ppg price stupid Pro lite 1.3 t110 all rounda
i found this Devilbiss Tekna Prolite Pro's Choise Purple Haze LTD.
Hello Gunny,
Got a quick question. I recently picked up an Iwata Lotus gun and a Pro Lite. I’m shooting for an Aston Martin type finish. Flat and glassy. Which gun would you likely use for base, and which for clear? Both are 1.3, and the Pro has the TE 20.
Thanks!
Or probably go the Lotus for clear and pro lite for base, could be worth getting some practice in though.
Great video ,thnx for being honest 👍🏻
Great video as always Gunny🤘 the only problem I can see with the pro lite is that it comes I way too many limited editions than I can afford and need🤣 but I want them all 🤔😖
I enjoy your videos! What lvlp Guns would you recommend
Yeah go Pro Lite !! I have a question I struggle a bit with solvent pop , I shoot clear with about 10min flash off
between them but i still get some problems ,not always could it be that I'm using to much thinners 15 - 20% ?
I get the same problem with solvent when I use the TE10 with clear, for me it was I was going to slow, want getting runs or anything just solvent boil right in whole panel sometimes. I started moving little bit faster got better. Kept the speed and tried moving back to a first and a thumb away rather than a fist away from the panels, and now my issue is gone. That was my problem the TE10 just seamed slower application than the te20 so I naturally slowed down and got in closer to keep it wet, and turned out didn't need to
@@AJsHotRodsNrepairs ,thanks I'm definitely going to try that think my speed are a bit slow, I'm overlapping about 70% maybe I should do 50%
Hey Gunman im putting together a setup for home hobby work i have a 3hp 11gal compressor am i going to be able to get that to work with a LVLP spray gun?
I was just looking on line for pricing on a Pro-lite, but there seems to be quite a few knockoff look alikes. How can I tell which is an original? Thanks in advance for any advice. 😁
Hutchy45445 one is $80 one is $300+
Everything is more expensive in Australia 🇦🇺.
What is the best, in your opinion?
I'm from Brazil
Nice item thanks
Thanks again for watching
Hey Gunny, love your vids, learning load, getting ready to buy my first ever Pro gun thanks to you, Pro Light and FLG5 for primer. Wondering if you have done or could do a video on Mixing Ratio for primer, base and clear. And how to work out if any mix should have a aquirt of something after the first coat when doing multiple coats. I've watch so many of your vids, get confused of how to use mixing cups and ratios. Cheers mate, buy you a beer. Rich
I 2nd that thought, another vid of mixing and another top ten guns
Cuál de las dos que a ti te gusta?
Poco tarde pero le gusta mas la pro lite la dv1 esta mas cara y dice que no vale gastar extra por ella cuando la pro lite trabaja igual de bien.
Do you still think it’s not worth it with the C2 air cap?
They're a good gun, C2 improves it considerably for me.
I realize this is an older video but I'm just curious if you've seen the gti pro lites on ebay shipping from china for 100 usd , any chance those are the real thing or do you think they are just knockoffs
They are fake made in China and have defects in the machining. The true prolite is a high quality tool made in the UK
This gun is a killer
hey Gunny, do the aircaps from the dv1 clear coat gun fit the dv1 base coat guns??
Yes they do mate
Does Wax come throught your Guns or u get Wax on the panels ? i dont get it
It's that any small wax, grease, oil etc contamination on the panel can result in an imperfection in the final finish, using wax and grease remover lowers the risk of that contamination.
Devilbiss should offer you a job with a huge salary
😂😂😂 I'm down for that 🤙
@@TheGunmanChannel not a bad shout my man, make it happen DEVILBISS
@@TheGunmanChannel hope Delvibiss has extended an offer to you. I don't think free guns are gonna cut it anymore, you need some good ol' Australian Dollars. Do you realize how much money you've made them? I guarantee you a good 70% of your audience bought a GTI Pro Lite just because of your videos. I personally bought a Tekna Prolite, precisely because of your review. That was $600 USD just from me.
Can you put a dv1 air cap on the prolite?
No, they don't fit
Hi what's up with the devilbiss pro lite sold on ebay brand new for 75 to 100 us dollars.?
They're Chinese knockoffs
Have you ever tried one to see how bad they are? Thanks for your response!
Your voice sounds like the Australian that does the interview about chasing down a person who crashed into his mates house and tried to run off.
Whats a good 1.4 gun for around 100 bucks ?
PR MT flg5 spraygunsdirect about $130 solid piece
They discontinued the Prolite didn't they?
Nope, they'd be silly to do that.
@@TheGunmanChannel Ok good. Cuz i need a few more.
Whats that 3m adapter number?
@@305BigBlaz S15 for PPS2
👍👍👍
the b+ air cap compatible for clear coat ?
You can use it for clear but they recommend it for basecoat
@@TheGunmanChannel Thanks . Why they dont recommend. What is your opinion ?
