AWS Backup is a dedicated service to take backup of multiple resources not just RDS. Snapshot is a point in time copy of a RDS instance. Automated backups happens based on 2 things. Periodically based on configured windows and If AWS detected any major change on our RDS resource.
@@avizway When we created RDS, we configure automated backup every night. Does this mean that we can incur a 24 hour data loss in case the database or RDS crashed and we had to use the backup to recover? Also, if we have multi-az do we still need a backup since the multi-az standby server can be used as a backup server?
Good Video. What is the difference between backup and snapshot? Are automated backup done once every day or every 5 minutes?
