Wave, I am 73, and a musician, performer, singer-songwriter, occasional hired-gun lead player for 57 years. Among all the superlatives I could list off for Lovebites, the other day I came to a realization that makes Miyako unique for me in a way. Beyond the concert level piano and wonderful lead guitar playing, I believe she is THE BEST Rhythm guitar player I have ever heard. Her rhythm drives Lovebites' songs, and after every lead break she is INSTANTLY back on the chugs. And, listen to those amazing hammer-fills in the pre-chorus of this one. IMHO, a lot of the layering depth in Lovebites' songs comes from Miyako's rhythm guitar breaking from the 'strum the chords' format and adding wonderful fills and grace notes.
Yes, I agree with your analysis, Sir. Miyako believe that guitar solo is also important part of creating good songs, but it's because of the cool backing rhythms and always over cool chord progressions. She left the flashy guitar solos and crazy fills to Midori, while she's in charge in more melodic ones. She occasionally asked Midori if the phrases were too fast for Midori to play the solos 😂
Yes she arranged the majority of Lovebites backing rhythms (except those songs written by Midori, or when Midori playing the melody and she playing the harmony, which probably less than 5 songs). When the songs written by long collaborator Mao (mainly in keyboards), Miyako would arrange the rhythm guitars first before other members did their arrangements. When it's Miyako song, she would arrange every part of the song in details
This role playing was already established when they recorded their debut album.
@@dino.mozardien Thanks a lot for the detailed back-story. I'm a newer Wolf, but I can feel how the music is happening from being a performer/producer. Judging by the improvement Miyako has made in her guitar lead work in the last 3 1/2 years I think Midori has likely shown her some basic shredding techniques like sweeps, string skipping, and tapping -- and Miyako's prodigy level music talent just sucks it in . . and then spits it out on demand. I would be pissed and jealous, if I didn't benefit so much from sharing in her amazing talent as a listener. :0)
(Last minute thought: I'll bet sometimes in the practice room the other members share a 'Jeez, there she goes again' moment quite often.)
@@Patrick_H. I believe they are influencing each other. The band members pushing each other. Electric Pentagram showcasing their progress and improvements, the more solid of the rhythm section (Miho and Haruna), Asami getting better at her performance (studio and live shows), Miyako starting playing riffs she never tried before, or the evolution of Midori playing since Battle in the East. I'm sure at one point Midori showed how to pick tapping and other tricks to Miyako. Miyako is the-go-to-person when the band needed song in a hurry. The Five of A Kind concert demonstrate that both guitarists are in a place where they famously known as one of the best guitar duo in the world of Metal. And we are lucky enough to live in a time of M&M. 🤘🧡🐺
HARUNA !!! HARUNA !!! HARUNA !!! 🤘🐺🤘
Miyako is an amazing musician. In one live concert, she’s playing keys with on hand and tapping her guitar with the other. Such an incredible talent.
Ahh Miyako. Be still my beating heart 💓
Yep! First time I saw her was mesmerised by her beauty, and then she started shreddin and my jaw dropped 😳
Yep, Haruna is definitely in the same class as Sugarfoot. Her double-kick work is next-level man. 🥁🏆
Damn, I had to look Sugarfoot up. He made it all seem so effortless !
@@brandydynamite5877🤘😁🤘 he sure does, doesn't he. LOL. That cymbal choke ending he does on his Smooth Criminal MV is legendary.
Ok... A Lovebites/The Warning/Plush tour!!! Chicks are in the process of saving rock and metal and are kickin' ass doin' it!!!
Miyako to me the real Wonder Woman. Play Concert level Piano, Great guitarist and a darn good singer as well. What more could you ask for. And
while they were on Hiatus she had her baby. A girl. So Momma Miyako now.
Yes, these women are exceptional and versatile musicians. This song showcases Asami’s vocals and Miyako’s piano playing.
You can add Bass, Drums, Keytar, Wife & Mother to Miyako's resume !!❤😎👌
Et puis... à tous les autres commentateurs : OUI, tout finit par se ressembler, surtout dans ces styles ... quelqu'un finira TOUJOURS par dire "ah ! ça me rappelle..." Merde ! écoutez juste et n'essayez pas de comparer toujours et toujours...
Another beautifully crafted song from the perfect band. 🥰
《a frozen serenade》live please!
One of my favorite songs! During the guitar solo/harmonizing Haruna's double bass just thundering.. does not get any better than that! Thank you for reacting to this video.
D-Drive is an incredible band and of course Yuki is stunning, I had my metal friends watch her play Priest's Painkiller (th-cam.com/video/fo4lCKHhfmk/w-d-xo.html) and they wanted to marry the "perfect women" (LOL)!! Like Asterism a awesome band that is instrumental thus the "No Vocalist" nonsense has held them back but these are all world class musicians making truly stunning music. Lovebites are a truly generational group of world class musicians making amazing music that they themselves create, arrange and then play flawlessly. Miyako maybe the one with the diverse talent in this band but each member is truly gifted and the group may create they great pieces of music but without each member to contribute to them and having the skill to play them especially LIVE it would be lost. Great reaction to one of my favorite LB songs as it shows off so much of this insane talent within this band, a thank you to Darren who clearly knows great music when he hears it!!!!
Yes, miyako is very multi Talented on instrumental. She master on piano, guitar, slapping bass, and a little bit drum. Also she can play piano and guitar at the same time. You can check out on they song called "Burden of time"
Thank you for back again to reaction to Lovebites.
Wolfpack keep on lovebiten🤘🐺🤘
Yaayy! Thanks, Wave! Yes, the versatility of Miyako - on keyboards and then switching to guitar - is mind blowing! Lead singer, Asami, gets to show off her R&B vocalist chops In the intro, too. Appreciate your commentary. Even the ones that you think are big reaches (at least you'll include a quick sample of what you're talking about, like the “Beat it” guitar riff).
That riff is REO Speedwagon - Back On The Road Again if you haven't figured it out already... 🐺🤘LOVEBITES 🤘🐺
You are such a cool person and Lovebites is such THE best band in the world (with band-maid) do mooooooore reactions of this beautiful and talented musician girls. Send you hughs from Colombia
Yes, Miho and Midori help(ed) for backing vocals but Miyako is the only one harmonizing. I'be curious to hear her sing solo (edit: just saw Rob Capuano's link - thx mate!)
I really like how Asami shows more her R&B style of singing, very emotional. The rhtythm section is amazing, I love Haruna fills before the solo, she's so great, the overall work form her in this song is pretty great. The only part that I kinda dislike was the solo, they started great, but when they go harmonizing, it didn't catch me too much, I think it's because they do it in the same fashion as always, it's like they put that there because they have to do it...I don't know, just my appreciation. But, aside of that detail, the rest of the song is incredible.
That riff you are talking about is the same rhythm as Hot blooded by Foreigner.
Thank you for coming back to Lovebites. All five of them are multitalented, but yes, Miyako is a little bit surreal. And she always looks so chill while melting our faces.
Regarding Miyako, she also plays bass guitar rather well. I fully believe that if she wanted to be their bass player for their studio stuff and have a touring bass player, they could do it. Like Kanami from BAND-MAID, Miyako can hold her own on drums as well. It's no wonder Peavey wanted her in their booth doing demos for NAMM 2020. Midori was there, too, only she was in Kemper's booth. Lastly, there's video of Miyako slaying "Beat It" with her usual casual ease.
Awesome reaction Wave. |Not sure why it took me so long to watch this, but better late than never. My favourite Lovebites song. That opening piano and Asami singing is incredible! I always feel that if this song had come out in the 80's, it would have been a mega-hit and launched Lovebites into superstardom. Such classic rock vibes.
LOVEBITES - Empty Daydream lyrics:
Memories I can’t erase still haunting me
Silently you stare with cold, empty eyes
Falling down
Breaking heart
A growing addiction
Just let me go away
Just let me go my way
Just let me go, I won’t become a doll you control
I’m losing sight of me
I’m losing sight of you
I’m losing sanity and I don’t know how I will go on
Nothing new, pretending not to know the truth
Rendezvous, without emotion or heart
I won’t show how weak and sad I am inside
Even though I know it’s just silly pride
Empty room
Endless rain
The end of a daydream
You never call my name
You never feel the same
You never make me feel like I deserve any love
I’m waiting for the dawn
I’m waiting for the time
I’m waiting for my bleeding heart to heal, so I can go on
Memories I can’t erase still haunting me
Silently you stare with cold, empty eyes
Falling down
Breaking heart
A growing addiction
Empty room
Endless rain
The end of a daydream
Just let me go away
Just let me go my way
Just let me go, I won’t become a doll you control
I’m losing sight of me
I’m losing sight of you
I’m losing sanity and I don’t know how I will…
You never call my name
You never feel the same
You never make me feel like I deserve any love
I’m waiting for the dawn
I’m waiting for the time
I’m waiting for my bleeding heart to heal,
so I can go on

lyrics: asami
music: miyako
arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami)
That was an amazing reaction to my favorite band. Good job.
Miho Miho Miho!
One for their best songs for sure!
That guitar bit you said reminds you of something, reminds me of Tush by ZZ Top. And yes, Miyako's awesome, but in the harmony part, she was singing the main melody, and Asami was actually doing the (lower) harmony. I mean, they were harmonizing with each other, so it's a technicality really..
Great reaction as usual Wave. Thank you maestro 🙏
Thanks. I have not paid attention to Lovebites so far. I like this.
Hi man, that catchy "beat it"main riff also reminds me of "don't say it's over" from Gun, have you listened to it? It's in another musician level but it's a great rock song too, try it if you have a minute.
Greetings 🤘🏼
This sound-Beat it, MJ
It always reminds me of the first Wily stage from Mega Man 2.
Great reaction. We all need more Lovebites in our lives.🤘🤘🤘
Great review man, since you love hardrock or groovy song... here are recommendations for Lovebites songs that have the same vibe :
- Dancing With Devil
- Frozen Serenade
- Burden Of Time
Thanks.
In a sane world this would have topped the charts worldwide (think “Bangles” only better).
You’ve a good ear! I’ve wondered why no one else has ever noticed Miyako’s real harmonizing skills.
miyako "the golden touch" really is the superpower of the band. plus she´s composing 60-70% of the songs. and yuki from D_drive is looking like a supermodel and one of japans best rock guitarists. but D_drive has no miyako. thank you very much for this reaction.
Stop Stop staaaaaap... You can't make like SET THE WORLD ON FIRE is not out there since so much time ago and you don't know about it... -_-
Your analisis and reaction is one of the best. But come on, Set the World on Fire!!!
👍
maybe it reminds you of Vixen in the 90's streets of paradise
But midori faster n clean guitar tone on solo, midori is teacher for miyako, miyako is high level piano
Bit it !!! faut pas pousser ! c'est différent !!! superposez les deux riffs et vous verrez... une certaine intonation, peut-être mais pas de plagiat...
Another band to check out that is all female from Mexico is The Warning check out their song Evolve th-cam.com/video/3_RB0tRI624/w-d-xo.html
"Catchy chorus" - and then the seriousness of the lyrics makes them catch in your throat. 😢
