Just my 2 pence worth. Been doing the same farm for 5 years with the nox. Never had silver. Been twice with the manticore. George 3rd shilling first time. Elizabeth 1st penny second time. Seems to be a beast to me ! Very happy on pasture which is 99% of my time.

Don't know if this is of any use to you guys but I'm told this mantcore is similar to the ctx3030. I had one for around 5yrs, it was a brilliant machine but it didn't like airiated soil, it was great on stubble, pasture and beach but it didn't perform well on freshly ploughed ground. This could have something to do with it being multi frequency, I don't know but you just jogged my mind when you mentioned loss of depth on plough.

I was all set to buy the Manticore until I started watching the evaluation videos. Then my friend got his and I was impressed with the targets we were pulling, yet there were problems as many others had discussed. I don't know how Minelab is going to fix them, but I'll wait until they do, so I purchased the 900 as an interim detector, because I need something that is waterproof. Something the 800 wasn't.

Thanks for your honesty. Iv have the 900 for 2 months now after having the 800. I wish I never bought the 900. The 900’s signals don’t sound very reassuring, hard to explain but kinda sounds like a ripple of a signal. But the 800 when it finds a signal it locks onto it and you feel more confident that it’s a solid signal. I’m not happy with whatever they did on the inside of the Equinox 900, I would say stay or go with the Equinox 800. The ONLY plus with the 900 is the red light that’s it

  • @stefkuna

Interesting views, thanks. I'll confess I haven't watched the cultivated field video but it sounds like my Nox 800 performance - much deeper in pasture (not as deep as Manticore though) and in dry conditions very shallow on fields but also great at tiny targets. Watching Holzhammer Saga videos of pasture and dry fields I'd say the Deus isthe same. So it might just be a limitation of the techology regardless of variations. Good comments abot the value for money - once you've spent around £800 you have to pay a lot for diminishing returns.

I constantly read the Manticore is deeper than the 800, I've had the 800 since it first came out on the market and on the settings I use I beg to differ, on small stuff the Manticore has the edge it's faster amongst the trash I run the 800 just before it becomes unstable and have had phenomenal depth ...ok depth is not everything but having both machines I keep going back to my 800 because I know I'm missing them deep targets and proving it time and time again

Go on the TH-cam and watch live video hunts put out by "Detector Comparison" he does a side by side with the Manticore and the Deus2 he's put out 4 so far in the last 2 weeks and in the 3rd video they added the Nox in the side by side. It's a real life hunt in old hunted out 125 year old parks heavy with iron. If you're a Minelab lover you want to see these videos. It's the most honest true live hunt side by side where one would get a hit and the other tested it if they got the signal or not and vice versa. Then they compared what their machines ID'd it as.. You might be surprised about something the Nox read in the 3rd test video compared to what the Manticore and Deus 2 claimed it was. BTW the man "Carter" who ran these tests has 40+ years of experience under his belt so it's nothing but professionally done. He also gives you setting suggestions on how to best adjust it and why. He has also run tests on almost every upper level detector on the market for the last 10 to 12 years so you pick it and he's most likely tested it in live hunts on land, salty black sand beaches and under water while diving. Not to change the subject or am I'm brand loyal but he had the Legend going deep in a salty black sanded beach heavy with colonial iron nails where NOBODY is testing this Legend like this. If he can't tweek the settings I don't think anybody can except maybe the engineers who worked on developing it. News flash he actually works with the engineers of the manufacturers of each machine he thinks isn't performing too well then re runs the test. He tweeked the settings on the AT Maxx to run on a salt beach by his second video after talking to Garrett's engineer This guy is even worth subscribing to if you like watching underwater dives off of Cape Cod where he slaughters 100 year old jewelry with pretty much every detector he uses. Truly I suggest everyone interested in Minelabs Manticore and the Nox 800 and especially the Deus 2 if people have any questions about the Deus 2 capabilities and it's an impressive detector to say the least. Like elbow deep impressive on some targets like silver dimes and indian pennies. But they did get the Manticore to get pretty deep it just didn't steal the show like it was expected to

      @Addictedtobleeps  ปีที่แล้ว

Not quite my friend. We're talking about target seperation and masking here. Some machines have the tech to deal with it, and some aren't good at dealing with it at all. That's the difference. You put a coin right next to an iron nail within mineralisation, and there's a good chance it will confuse a lot of machines - especially older ones. Same with a coin on its side. Many machines miss it.
The potency within this new tech, will take that out of the equation is what we pay for, along with build quality and additional depth. Also, as I mention here - this machine does (pretty much) tell me what it is, on pasture.
There is a difference how metal detectors handle this, and how much rubbish you dig, and what you miss. Big difference in some instances.

@@joebrown1382 I don’t with the Manticore at all. I think that’s the point you’re missing.
If it’s a low conductor, a low target ID, low tone up in the ferrous on the 2D screen I won’t dig it.
If it’s high, but up on the grey zone on the 2D screen, I won’t dig it.
But someone who has an 800 for example, might - because the ferrous indication is looser with the lesser tech.

Nothings really changed then?, Minelab tech not so hot in moved arable soil, great on solid settled pasture, XP for arable and Minelab for pasture and beaches (well that was always the saying when it was just Deus 1 and CTX3030) ATB MMMD

It takes an average of 100 hours to truly learn a machine inside and out to know what it’s telling you and it’s capabilities. I highly doubt you have a quarter of that time invested into it. All these reviews I see are a joke just to post a video for views. Take more time to learn the dam thing before you make an ‘honest’ opinion….

      Oooooo someone’s tired!
I literally said give me a year with the machine and I can give you a true answer RE the 800 and being able to recommend it. Did you even watch the video? You didn’t, did you. You just decided to type first. Like a mud laden Karen.
In addition, it doesn’t take ‘an average of 100 hours to truly learn a machine’ you literally just made that up! It takes a while, but no one can know the true average, can they?
Also, users are different. Someone that’s detected using Minelab for 30 years will understand the machine quicker that someone who’s been detecting for a week, right?
So, in the time I’ve used it it is an HONEST review, isn’t it? It’s an HONEST reflection of the 50+ hours using it.
Views? What are you talking about? Why would I be bothered about views? I’m doing this for the people who have sincerely asked for my feedback, like those in the comments. People ask me to review these machines you know? I don’t care how many watch it, as long as those people get good information.
You sound butthurt. It’s Valentine’s Day. Come over here and get a big ‘ol cuddle you big moody bear child.
