Blue on Black was originally recorded by the Kenny Wayne Shepard Band with their lead singer Noah. It was great too. And KW is amazing on guitar.
If you get the chance, their live shows are completely worth it.
I second this, but best enjoyed in the pit!
Blue on Black, everything is muddied
This song by Kenny Wayne Sheppard was on my son’s playlist. He also had songs from Five Finger Death Punch. He passed away in 2012 from cancer. Thank you so much, this brought back so many memories of us sitting and listening to his music and talking.
So sorry for your loss ❤
@@maryhuhnke4706 Thank you so much.
Kathy, I'm so very sorry for your loss. 💝
@@melaniejordan1199 Thank you, that’s so very thoughtful.
Sorry for your loss 🫂
My husband was a volunteer firefighter for 45 years and I am a Navy veteran. Things can change in a single heartbeat. We have both lost many firefighter, veteran, and active duty friends and family.
My husband was a 21 years fire chief. Stayed up lots of nights.
I’m a 24 year veteran firefighter. I love my job however, it comes with a cost both physically, and mentally. Currently America looses more Firefighters, Paramedics, and Police officers to suicide than the dangers of our jobs. Sadly this doesn’t even come close to the 22 military veterans we loose everyday to suicide.
Much thanks to Five Finger Death Punch there incredible music, and videos. And to shed light on the different foundations that help military, and first responders. This band is absolutely amazing.
KWS, one of the top guns in blues and rock, check him out.
The lead singer is Ivan Moody.
The song is about losing someone. It can be interpreted as either a breakup or death.
In the case of this version of the song, I believe it's the loss of a loved one that died in the line of duty.
I do like your thoughts on it too.
Thanks for the shout-out. I have been a firefighter for over 20 years.
The Gary Sinise Foundation does so much for veterans and first responders, as does 5FDP.
They have so many great songs!
If you haven't done Gone Away yet it is a must with the official video. 😊
Did you know that Brian May is also an astrophysicist?
Thank you for your service.
@kim sloan thank you.
Thank you for your service
Thank you
Ivan Moody has an amazing voice. Love all of Five Finger Death Punch songs.
Kenny Wayne shepherd is the blonde guy on lead guitar, original performer and writer of the song. Definitely need to watch his live version of the song!!
"Blue on Black" is one of my favorite songs. These guys took a song about losing someone who isn't coming back presumably to a romantic relationship and applied to first responders. Love it.
Brian May. Buttery gritty voice. Love his guitar. This is one of my very favorite song. The mixture of grief and anger is amazing. So true to how one feels. Wonderful lyrics, wonderful, powerful voices. This is about the mixture of horrible emotions that follow a death from sacrifice.
Wrong side of heaven is a gut punch and this got me in the feels when I first heard it!
I started following you after Wait in the Truck and who ever is telling you what to check out is just nailing everything. Great songs that go ignored by so many, hope Aaron Lewis finds his way on your reactions soon. Another man who can shake your soul.
Wanna get a taste of how big they are? Watch wash it all away, shows a taste of live shows from buses, to pyro to check out his mic stand. Took my daughter to see them last fall and had time of our lives. Knuckleheads for life
WOW!-didnt know this version existed. BLOWN AWAY! His voice is killer and that Brian May solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FARK!
Ivan has one of the most amazing voices ever!
Your guy Brantley Gilbert is singing too
Thanks for your reaction, which was great. FFDP is awesome with music, vocals, lyrics, and imagery. I am a true believer of Never Forget. Major events get lost in the shadow of the next major event. Thankfull, there are people who remember. I am one with stories to tell. I have shared before, 9-11 in NYC was up close and personal on many levels. My brothers son never recovered after experiencing Columbine - the suicide is remembered more than what he survived. The recent armed conflicts took a few people from my life, and a young friend was shot and killed in the line of duty (police) this past month. I can never forget and do whatever I can to honor survivors and those who have passed. Like Disturbed wrote : souls who are not remembered will not survive.
This is my favorite homage to our first responders, and never fails to make me cry. So powerful.
Me Too!
My Son loves this band. Then you add Brantley Gilbert, Brian May and I was shook. Glad this old Mom listened to her Son's suggestion.
The only and I mean ONLY good thing about this version is that Kenny Wayne Shepherd played in it. FFDP is nothing but a garbage band.
You should check out Outlaws and Outsiders. It has Ivan Moody singing as well. But also has Cody marks, Travis Tritt and Mick Mars.
Absolutely love FFDP & Brantley Gilbert!!!!
5FDP is nothing more than a cover band. Most of their catalogue is covers...hacks
I respect you coming here and speaking perfect English, most won't even try to learn.
Love this version of this kenney wayne song!
it was originally written by kenny wayne sheppard who was a teenage guitar prodigy th-cam.com/video/gBuFJhASKZg/w-d-xo.html
That singer has a fantastic voice Blue on black is from 1997. This is definitely a rocked up version.
Now do their cover of Bad Company, tribute to the Soldiers
I'm 5th generation US Navy veteran, my dad couldn't serve in the military, he was classified 4F, lost an eye as a kid, but he retired as a volunteer firefighter after 25 years.
Despite the Navy background I have family that have served in every branch of the military including the Merchant Marines. It's something you are born to do- serve.
As for the song the country/blues vibe you picked up on- the second singer Brantley Gilbert is part of the newer generation of outlaw country and KWS and blues are synonymous. Brian May? Nothing more to say. Outstanding rendition of this song1
Speaking of cars, Kenny Wane has a huge car collection…
All of your grief doesn't change a thing.
Ivan moody! His first song with the band was the bleeding. I love me some moody even through his addiction I was rooting for him.
We had a deputy in central Florida who, on his last day before retiring, ran his car, driver's side, I front of a criminal who was fleeing at high speed and was going to hit a car with a family inside and was killed instantly. He honored his duty to protect and serve even on his last day.
Not bad, im a big fan of the original by Kenny Wayne Sheperd
Gary sinise is an actor. I really enjoy his character. Was in Forrest Gump and Apollo 13
This is a great song, Kenny Wayne Shepherd version rocks too. Brantley Gilbert has great music as well, especially early BG. He almost died in a car rollover before his career started.
Went to see Nickelback, Brantley Gilbert opened for them and the broke this out. When I say the place went insane, I mean INSANE.
FFDP’s lead singer is Ivan Moody!
FFDP are massive supporters of both the military, LEO, and other first responders. They are true Americans.
I love the original by Kenny but I really love FFDP and their cover of this! Another couple of songs by them that are my favorites that you should really check out are "A Little Bit Off Today" and "Walk Away"!❤
BRIAN MAY!!! and the red guitar.. he still has it, every bit of it.
That's awesome, thanks Sebs. I'd only ever heard the Kenny Wayne Shepherd version so this was really cool. I'm going to add it to my playlist, I'm really digging it.
Cheers 👍
Kenny Wayne Sheppard was like 16 when he came on the scene back in the 90’s. Since you’re a guitar guy, you’ve GOTTA check him out.
Do BAD TRICK
ray Wylie hubbard and ringo star and some other legends of rock
Its very cool .
Brantley Gilbert is featured on this song. He has some great music. Check out "One Hell of an Amen" by him. I think you would love it
I love me some BG toooo!❤
@@tammyderson6547 he's one of my favorite country artists
Kenny Wayne Shepherd was heavily inspired by Stevie RayvVaughan. Can't really tell as much in this version of the song, due to the harder Five Finger influence, but it's tairly obvious in the original version and a lot of his other songs...
Kenny Wayne Shepherd is the closest thing we have to Stevie Ray Vaughan today. He was blessed to see Stevie Ray live from right next to the stage at age 7 and was completely memorized. His song Deja Voodoo is absolutely incredible and he channels Stevie Ray like no one I have ever heard before or since in at one version I have heard
Kenny Wayne Shepherd is from my home town. His Dad was a Rock Dee-Jay name Shotgun Ken Shepherd. I knew him and I met KW when he was like 12. He's the blonde in the black bowler. Hell of a guitarist!
The original by Kenny Wayne Shephard is one of my all time favorite songs. You really should check out the original. More of a blues sound.
The nobility of sacrifice doesn't mitigate the grief of loss.
the lead vocals is Ivan Moody and agreed he has pipes. Check out Corey Marks ft Ivan Moody. I think you'd like it Outlaws and Outsiders
For an idea of how talented Adam Lambert (Queen) is, watch a video called That’s My Jam Adam Lambert sings The Muffin Man as Cher in a game with Jimmy Fallon*
Was awesome when this came up, Kennys OG is amazing. Brian May was icing on the top. was realllly annoyed they brought Brantley in.. one of the problems with current Country.
I know Kenny Wayne Sheppard. I met him . Great musician. He usually does blues .
A listen to Kenny Wayne Sheppard, writer/singer/guitar playing fool, will definetly send you down a rabbit hole worth exploring...
Ivan Moody, watch all their stuff FFDP always a great message and super nice he was on my flight I was working.
My dream collaboration is Ivan Moody Corey Taylor, will never happen😢
This song was made in tribute to firefighters and I also believe with the money made going to the Gary Sinise Foundation. All funds made went to helping firefighters in Cali. that lost their own homes due to wildfires.
If you don't know who Kenny Wayne Shepherd is you seriously need to dive into his music😮😅😅
The Kenny Wayne Shepard version is better. Not real fond of this ripoff version.
Kenny Ray Sheppard is the lead singer. This is his song. He used to have long blonde hair ❣️❣️❣️
Technically this is classified as Southern Rock!
I was a first responder, once upon a time. It’s nice to know we’re thought of.
Sebs. Hopefully, in the next Fiver Finger video I will be in it. No joke.
Watched a ton of your videos, didn't know you've done FFDP. I'll look.
Yeah First responders do not get the respect they Deserve. you see footage from any disaster people are running away, they are running at it.
As a former Leo and volunteer firefighter I play this song every morning when I wake up and the fire department I was part of plays it every time they go to a call
Joker on Jack is for when Jack Nicholson played the Joker in BatMan
Check Shinedown's cover of Simple Man
The lead singers name is Ivan Moody. 5FDP
Such a great reaction
awesome song it did the original song justice!
LOL Brian May from Queen was such a nice touch to this video
This was a cover and you should react to the original by Kenny Wayne shepherd band
You have to check out the original by KWS, also check out One Foot on the Path.
Yes 5fdp does a lot of covers, they get a lot of hate for it but they ALWAYS bring it. I freaking love this band so much.
Nice take on the KWS original...
FFDP always has great visuals.
Dr. May shows out. Very versatile.
I remember when the original came out i loved it back then and when this came out it blew me away
Brian May took them youngsters to straight back to school with that solo lol
Need more Brantley Gilbert of this channel.
KWS is the long blonde haired guy with a black hat on
Brantley Gilbert is country, adds a different sound to it!
Kenny Wayne Shepard was the first band I saw live
Give a listen to Bob Dylan “things have changed”
That’s definitely a charger.
Not for nothing it’s what we all take the oath for
First solo is Kenny Wayne Shepard. Got to check him out he’s awesome
Ivan Moody is the singer's name!
The bleeding. Bad company bad ass songs by them
They also do a great cover of Bad Company!
this was dedicated to first responders
Lead singer of FFDP is Ivan Moody
I Apologize by FFDP is awesome
Zoltan bathoray is an actual veteran
Guy in the hat singing is Brantley Gilbert
Been to many FFDP concerts! One of the best!
Original is waaaaaaaay better & i ❤ 5FDP
"Muscle cars are my thing" Amen
My brother in law is a lieutenant at our local fire station and the things he has told me I don’t know how they do that job but I thank god every day there are people like him that are willing to put their life on the line for regular people like me
