Hey Tom, I had to share that I have been visiting my parents this week just south of Nashville in Alabama. I have had your episodes playing occasionally on their big TV while I have been here - and my mom, who has suffered from dementia for many years, has become completely aware of you. I can come back after a few hours of doing something else and she will ask me to "play a video from Uncle Larry - I want to hear him play the guitar." It's been cool to see her perk up and totally recall watching your videos several hours later - and she loves the VCB and laughs throughout your commentary. She was always a huge music fan before she got sick, and it made me realize that music can reach into the soul. Thank you, Tom!

Damm it!! Guys from my absolute ignorance in music this is a curse. Why? I did not know Joe Jackson's song, i just came across Uncle Larry's guitar solo and now i have to come over and over again to this video. Those 3 min beginning the video are just great. No other cover i found is even closer to what Uncle Larry has done with that song. THANKS.

Amazing to think Joe Jackson went from "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" to this to an orchestral record with Vai on guitar.
I remember excitedly getting home from high school, knowing that MTV was available for the first time on cable in my area. "Steppin' Out" was the first video I saw.

First off you've taught us more than we could ever repay you for, and your musician , video references say even more about your treasured unique perspectives(i/we feel blessed)." Steppin' out", a tune that might be more hip today then when came out is what I'm talkin' about. So I play it in E so you can hit the Bass note without moving the hand up and down so much for those sweet voicings.
The tune lends itself to some cool outside stuff if you solo over those changes.

Yuengling is a good sipper (Strawb and the other one you mentioned is also worth checking out - grew up in Pgh). That F# with the Eb - I’ve always grabbed Eb-7 with the root on the G string - gets close to mimicking the piano voicing. That song has such great changes! Tom, I am just loving the chords… I love all the chords. Just loving getting to know how to actually play this thing, and I love your playing, and all the cool chords. I never would have imagined I could play like I am starting to be able to play now. Thank-you so much for your inspiration and all the golden nuggets. Would love to show you, man, somehow, sometime, the satisfaction I am getting out of playing the guitar. The smiles and moment’s of excitement I have now, sometimes after I stand up and set down my guitar, when I have just finished playing along or improvising to yet another song on yet another album. Sometimes I jump up, and I ask myself out loud… “Did I just play that!, did I just play that?!?!” Thinking Holy Shit! I did. I did just play that. It’s exponential now it seems learning new things, new connections between chords and triads almost every day now. Thank-you Tom. Thank-you so so much for your part for helping me start to become a guitar PLAYER. 🎸 Finally, after all these years, thinking, one of these days I’m gonna really learn how to play that thing. My No. 1 is a 1960 Tribute Les Paul Epiphone. I’ll always have this guitar, because it’s the one I learned to really play on… And of course, that awesome humbucker sound… 👍. Haven’t named it yet after all these years, but it will be my No. 1 for a very long time, if not forever. Ha! Great stuff Tom. So friggin’ cool.
