It's true that guinea pigs do run away from predators and dangerous situations. However, that's only if they think they can do so without leaving themselves out in the open and vulnerable to attack. This pig doesn't have anywhere it can go without the cat being on top of it in seconds. Thus, it's doing the only thing it can do and that's freeze in place and hope that the cat will get bored and go away, or perhaps by some miracle think that it's a rock or something.
The guinea pig isn't scared. It would've backed further into the corner and chattered its teeth or made whiney noises if it was. It looks pretty calm and chill and just not in a mood to play
Well, the cat obviously just wants to play (and doesn´t want to kill, unlike some say here)...BUT that little piggy is not the right companion for that. The cat plays like it would play with another cat...but for a little piggy it´s too rough. Just get the cat another companion of its own species...another cat, that is active/playful too. And play with your cat every day, then it won´t annoy anyone. Also get the little piggy a friend too...from its own species.
Traveler's Garden - Der Garten der Reisenden I agree maybe a guinea pig is not the best friend for a cat but if the guinea pig did not want to be that it would run and hide under the smallest play possible guinea pigs don’t just accept death they run as fast as they can
Cats forever are like : no, no, no. Thats not how you fight. Here, ill teach you 🤗. You put up your paws like dis. And like dis. And like dis. And like ... Bruh, youre not even listening to me 😤
Pretty dumb to let a cat swipe at a guinea pig cats and dogs are hunt this makes them predators. I have Yorkie and guinea pigs and my pig habitat is closed it is not recommended to have both together this applies to bunnies as well.the guinea pig was afraid of the cat that why it wasn't trying to run it was frozen.
This was probably so stressful for the guinea pig, which is why it's hiding behind the board. Please don't let your other pets frighten your guinea -_-
When my giggies are stressed by one of my other critters, they simply scurry. These guys are pals. One wants to play and the other says not now. I have giggies, chickens and bunnies and situations where one critter is being annoying is handled by simply walking or scurrying away. They all hang out together, but each species tends to stay together a bit more. The long term exception is my girl bunny who is in love with my rooster. She sniffs his butt, he walks a couple steps. She claims him by rubbing her chin in him. He walks away while continuing to eat. She jumps him to assert dominance over him. He simply walks away. 😂
Not really. It would've backed into the corner if it was actually scared. Also would've made a lot more noise. Pretty sure the guinea pig is familiar with the cat and knows it won't hurt it
This video was released over a decade ago so the guinea pig is certainly deceased. Its bones are probably nourishing some flowers. The cat may still be alive, but very old and slow and nearing its demise.
For those who don't own pigs whining about this: if the pig did not want to be there you can be the pig would not be there. They didn't evolve just sitting around accepting dangerous circumstances, they RUN
What the other replies said, plus, you can't really point to guinea pig behavior as being evolutionarily advantageous every time. Pet guinea pigs have been so heavily domesticated by humans that they literally cannot survive in nature without a human taking care of them. Guinea pigs only survive by being protected
True that guinea pigs can freeze up when scared, but this one doesn’t look particularly stressed just kind of annoyed and confused at what the cat is doing. I’d be much more worried about an accidental injury from the cat’s claws. Cats have a lot of bacteria on their claws that can cause nasty infections in other animals. I honestly don’t think that the piggy feels threatened here, but I would still stop the cat from swatting like that just to avoid an accident from happening. Sometimes cats love to try and play with other animals with no intentions of being aggressive, but just have trouble understanding the limits of other species. Our one guinea pig was obsessed with the cats and wanted to do everything they did, but unfortunately we still had to draw lines when the kitties tried to play too enthusiastically with their weird little sister.
The guinea pig reminds of mine named Buttercream. My dog tried to bite the other one, named Pansey, and Buttercream marched down and stared the dog right in the eyes.
I don't use to complain about this, but I wouldn't recommend lettin your cat playing like this with your guinea, cause he might not show fear, but they do get stressed. You can check by feeling the beats of his(her) heart, when you touch him(her).
+HongwareeChannel You are right! She's fine though and used to the cat, it's the cat that is scared of the guinea pig not the other way around. We made sure that they got properly socialized before we let them both roam free at the same time.
Mine does this all the time. He wants to play with my piggy all the time, and does everything he can think of to instigate play, but my pig doesn't understand and just get's annoyed, he always ends up biting him, and my cat never learns.
We had 4 cats and two piggies. The oldest cat, about 14 at the time, had no opinion at all of the piggies. No aggression, no interest. Our small female cat, 13, watched from a distance, showed no aggression, and was chill if the piggies came up to her. 8-year old cat started doing hunting behaviors, so he was banned. 3 year-old, giant 20-pound Siamese fell in love with them. He'd sleep by their cage, cuddle them when they were out for play time, and was the gentlest thing.
Seriously??? your wondering why your guinea pig dosn't want to move.....have you ever heard of fright or flight. The piggy is frozen cause thats what they do when there scared ether that or run, you may want to learn a lot more about your guinea's mental health needs and dont tell me she just resting or sitting because she is in an alert type stance and not once does she try to get comfy
+david coleman No she's just bored and not frozen. I know my pets, I've had guinea pigs for years. She's a little old now so she doesn't move as much as she was younger.
Cats and Guinea pigs can get along, just like cats and dogs can. Clearly if this cat wanted to attack the pig, it could have. I own guinea pigs, and I'll tell you right now that pig is not scared in the least.
+Landon Parks They get along very well! The cat never attacked our piggie and is very gentle with it. Most of the time he doesn't bother playing with it because she's not as fun as our other cat.
Why the F would you actually do this to a GP? They can actually die from stress. I am not trying to be an alarmist. I am sure there will be a troupe of those who will say "my guinea pig and cat get along splendidly, blah blah" but cats/dogs and guinea pigs DO NOT MIX. Please.
DON'T LET THE CAT DO THAT it could literally kill the poor piggie with its nails like just all of a sudden the cats nails come out and stab the poor thing. Don't do this other ppl please
Hahaha i loved watching that pig getting smacked in the face by the cat who was "playing". The reason why your guinea pig was not running and looking around was that a) he knew that running would be a risky option and b) looked looking around for a safe place to hide
A few recent videos popped up, which is how I found this one, except in those... they were friends and just played for a while, a year at times, then one day for no reason.. nom nom time
+Mandy Brown That´s animal abuse! Cat´s have pain their whole life after that, they walk wrong & their joints get arthritis. In my country it´s illegal to de-claw a cat!
You shouldn't let your cat attack the Guinea pig like the Guinea pig like that Guinea pigs are on the high food chain you're on a high food chain very easily scared too.
Does your Guinea Pig make noises? I had one that never really made much noise and if I had her out for floor time would just sit there. The one we now have is all over the place and makes a lot of little sounds and wheeks!

Please don’t let that cat do that to that guinea pig the cat is not playing the cat could have its claws out and miss and put that guinea pigs eye out to that cat it’s a rodent please don’t let them alone together cats would like to kill that little guinea pig it’s not the right companion please use your head
I have 1 Guinea pig and 6 cat but 3 like to play whit my pig and they run whit him is that ok and I have a puppy to and she like to play whit him to but the piggy bite the puppy in the nose2 time
This is not nice! Please don't make this kind of videos! Cats have sharp nails. Guinea pig is not a toy. It may be "freezed" because it's scared though it looks like it's just fine. Guinea pig is a prey animal and freezing is one way they may try to avoid a threat. Because if it runs, what would happen? Also this can encourage some people to make this kind of videos.
Guinea pigs thinking to himself " just ignore him and he'll go away"
I think Guinea pigs are so cute because the don’t change facial expressions no matter the emotion they are feeling!
They do, you just don't bother to notice
Guinea pig: "You don't scare me, you just annoy me."
Cat: C'mon let's play....I'm gonna get ya!
Guinea Pig: No.
It's true that guinea pigs do run away from predators and dangerous situations. However, that's only if they think they can do so without leaving themselves out in the open and vulnerable to attack. 😂Poor pig
The guinea pig isn't scared. It would've backed further into the corner and chattered its teeth or made whiney noises if it was. It looks pretty calm and chill and just not in a mood to play
Wouldn’t it also give off a noise to tell the cat to go away?? It’s not doing that here.

The cat seemed sad when the piggy didn’t want to play with him

Морские свинки очень пугливые и нежные. И этот котик своими движениями создаёт большой стресс свиночке, она очень напугана и это не смешно

The G-pig looks bored with the cat!
it is not bored, it is frozen by scare :(
@@pavold7576 but it isn't frozen you can see it looking around

See, the thing is: if a guinea pig is REALLY scared, it will just turn off and freeze, hoping the threat doesn't see it.
That’s where your wrong every guinea is different but you can clearly see this one froze up his heart was probably thumping like crazy
I have had piggies my entire life. There are pigs that freeze up, there are pigs that run. Stop spreading bullshit.

Cat can scratch the guinea pig eye, watch out, don't let cat use hand on guinea head.
