I'm a hustler so, I love the $500 dollar flip / profit.. Not knocking it BUT, after going to look at the bike twice, gas money spent, hauling the bike, cleaning the bike, photographing the bike, dealing with the new buyer, dropping it off, and whatever else goes along with selling a bike (papers / title)...you definitely had to work for that $500. And you know what...that's perfectly fine too. $500 hundo is $500 hundo !
I did the same thing with a Honda Magna. Bought it cheap. (all it needed was a battery and a substantial cleaning.) Got a cheap battery from Walmart & got it running. Cleaned the hell out of it and sold it off Craigslaist within a week for a profit of $250.00. It's not hard if you want to put in a little work. Good video Jon.
One of my side hustles is flipping household products, furniture and random knick-knacks, last year I made a couple thousand bucks for motorcycle parts. This year I want to flip a bike or two; I'm lucky enough to be working from home so meeting up with buyers is that much easier. Thanks for the great vid and inspiration!
Great stuff, John. I love the fact that you don't go crazy on detailing but just put up an honest description of the bike with good photos. Really useful information.
Bought a 2013 48 for about $5500. Bike was posted for a few months. He just lived about 2 hours out from the nearest city. Make the commute, and picked it up after the ride. Had it for 6 months and decided I wanted to upgrade. Sold it for $6500
Easy, if the flipper has cash on hand, can find the right bike, and can sit on it for long enough to get it in front of the right eyes, they aren't at the disadvantage of having to sell quick and cheap. Then its just a matter of marketing it in such a way that the it appeals favorably to the right eyes. (Wrote this during first ad break)
my side hobby is i flip cars. i picked up a AWD 2010 equinox recently for 1100. needs the timing chains done on it which isnt a big deal. im currently waiting on the parts now. parts cost me 350, i can easily sell it in a day for 3500-4000. i prefer cars because you make more money faster. i may look into bikes too, i currently own a 09 1200c. i put bags and a bunch of other stuff on it. you can make money off anything but the key is you gotta buy it right.
So in this case it's the honest truth the bike was "dropped by the previous owner". 😆 And it sounds like Chandler Motorsports is becoming a beautiful relationship. 👍 Catch ya on the next one. 👨👩👧❤
Not sure how it is out west but definitely easier to flip scooters than motorcycles all while maintaining a high profit margin in my experience. For every bike I flip I usually stumble across 3-4 scooters that are at such a good price I can’t help but scoop them up. I feel like it’s mainly because a lot of scooter owners that are selling are less serious riders in most cases and more unfamiliar with the 2 wheel market. I’m interested to see what scooter they are wanting you to test ride. And enjoy all your content 👍
Love your content and your videos on the grom are what got me into watching moto vids. I’m going to take the msf as soon as riding season begins. Wish me luck.
Good advice, especially on the pictures. A lot of the dealers take terrible pictures, then wonder why bikes don't sell. I've got my eye on a 2020 Vulcan S at a nice price, but the pictures are just horrible and make it look as if it's a P.O.S, so I'll hang on a bit and make 'em an offer when it suits.
Hey Jon, how do you not get involved or pay for state taxes and title transfer from the old owner to your name so you can sell it again with a title in your name?
im not great with selling but im decent with trading. i traded my 07 drz400sm for a 15 fz07. rode it for about a month then traded it for another 17 drzsm lol pretty happy with the bike now so keeping it
What do you do about getting the bike transferred to your name them selling because wouldn’t that cost money or do you just skip that? Do you have a video showing how you load the bike and strap it down all by your self?
Hey jon, you could've gotten at least another thousand for it. The market for sportsters here in los angeles is probably way higher than your area, but yea you could've sold it for 5000-5500. (if it was a clean title)
Eeeey que pasa Jon boi Love the 48 🖤 Ye that's how I did,had my bike for sale for some time now, finally some folks messaged me about it and yes I said the bike was dropped,u can clearly see the dent in the tank which is still there, all fixed up,runs great except that dent What height are those apes ?
Its always buy low sell high..but it also depends on your market too though..im in ky, people here are cheapwads it's hard to flip anything & double your investment
Definitely something that may be appealing/worth it for some. I like to turn em fast with minimal work. The more time and money I put into it, the less its worth it for me since I don't enjoy that part as much. 💯
I rented my bike out on cl once. Dude paid $800 to have it for about a week. Lol. This was years back before ride share apps. Ive never used twisted road. But thats not a bad idea for checking out new bikes to test. Hmmmm....🤔.
@@JonsMotoGarage I rented out my sportster 1200 roadster for $80 a day. It broke down on my client but they were not upset. Since then ride share left Michigan because of the insurance laws here. Rented out my ford focus for $70 a day, made $600 a month on turo
Some guys are just lazy and don't want to put any effort into selling. Also, when they are done with something they just want to move on and don't feel like messing with it any more. When you are selling do you have buyers come to your house or meet them somewhere else?
Hey how much tax do you have to pay on buying used vehicles? Where I live if you bought it for 3500 and sold it for 4000 you'd actually lose money due to tax of buying it in the first place. You'd probably pay around 4000 after tax on a 3500 dollar bike.
Most people who flip don’t pay taxes. You would be stupid if you did, also they never put the real amount of how much they put on the back of the pink slip.
I usually have a similar but opposite experience. Buy high, sell low. 🤷♂️
Me too.
lol...me also lately.
LOLz
Hahah same. I could never make money selling anything

I bought my Stryker last year from Chandler Powersports, nice people there. Competitive pricing with the bigger shops around town.

Did you even go to the dmv and get a pink slip turning it around that fast? Or how does the paper work work? Just curious man I love your videos.

The scooter market is pretty crazy. 2 stroke scooters can be sought after and sell super fast if you get the right ones.

Hey Jon! Great vid again. Do you have to change the title into your name before you can do the next transaction?
Here in Cali you don’t you just need a bill of sale. AZ is less strict with there laws, I assume you don’t.
@@1320_EG thank you

Can't do this in CA unfortunately (flipping bikes/cars), will need to get a dealer's license.
@Bunnyshooter 223 he's in AZ.
Yeah, definitely not doable everywhere. Az allows a certain # per yr private party and doesn't charge tax on private party sales.
Looped my cr250r hard today so now I’ll be resting up and watching a lot of TH-cam lol
Dang, bro! Sorry to hear about the loop. Get well!
It's awesome what part of Arizona
8:40 perfect ramping. not your first rodeo

AMAZING COOL BIKE IS MAGIC ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Random question have you ever done a review of your Mazdaspeed 3?
Congratulations well done
Considering their worth, why wouldn't you put a new tire on it and rewire it and make another 700-900 profit?
Or is that unrealistic. Those bikes hold their value. That's why I ask

What is your dream bike?
Top video tiger 🐅
I’m guessing you doing have to get the bike insured if you are going to quickly sell it and not ride it
Typically if you buy a new vehicle, it’s insured for 14 days from purchase date then you have to add it.
That’s a sweet bike. I’d ride it....
Where can I get some rad gear hoodies and t shirts
Usually wal mart has rad gear
I believe in you!!

Nice bike apart from the bars.
Did it cost to transfer the title into your name before selling it?
I’d buy 🤷♂️
👌🏼👊✌🏼
What about titles? When I buy bikes the transfer in my name. Do i just tell the seller not to put my name down on title?
maybee $2000. thats all i would have paid.
Keep it for next 36 years before you can make a real profit.
ahhh sportster...totally overpriced but i will always like em
Time is money......you broke even....maybe.
Man, you’re cool, but after repeating everything twice, there is no need to keep on harping about the same points. We get it. Otherwise you’re fine
Oohh, $3500 for an sporty. I mean it's an 883, but still pretty cheap.
It’s not a 883 The 48 is a 1200
Thats Harley shit Nice sounds but slow shit bike
