- It's been 41 years since Motown legends The Temptations and Four Tops battled it out for the first time on national television for the Motown 25 special! A couple weeks ago (May 16), it recently hit it's 41st anniversary since "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever" aired on television. This was the night where Marvin Gaye gave his special performance, the Tempts and Tops battled it out, Diana Ross reunited with the Supremes for the first time in years, and, of course, Michael Jackson did his iconic moonwalk that shook up the entire world.
As of today for memorial day, I wanted to share this iconic performance of the Tempts and the Tops going head to head, battling it out singing a medley of each other's hit songs! Who y'all think won this battle? Let me know by voting, or commenting it down below.
FYI: This was also Ron Tyson's first televised performance as a member of the Temptations. He replaced Glenn Leonard shortly before this happened. As of today, Ron Tyson is still a remaining member of the Temptations!

One of the best battles. The Temptations & Four Tops
One of the best moments of Motown 25
Fascinating Indeed 😎
The most talent I've ever seen on one stage at the same time. I wash I was there.
Lucky fans
The Tempts won. Notice they got the most applause/ loudest applause??
The Temptations:
(9th lineup)
Otis Williams
Melvin Franklin(R.I.P.)
Dennis Edwards(R.I.P.)
Richard Street(R.I.P.)
Ron Tyson
The Four Tops:
(1st Lineup)
Levi Stubbs(R.I.P.),
Renaldo “Obie” Benson(R.I.P.),
Abdul “Duke” Fakir,
Lawrence Payton,Sr(R.I.P.)
My favorite part is when Obie sings Melvin's part on the first verse of "I Can't Get Next To You", Melvin's reaction was hilarious. Two of the greatest groups of all time tearin' up the stage together. And this would lead to them touring together for a few years afterwards.

Oh yes!😁
My favorite as well.
I had a fanboy moment with
two of my favorite bass singers
“going against each other”.😂
And yes,this wonderful “rivalry”
is still going strong today.
❤️❤️❤️💃🏻🎉
