Its always my conflict with MM letsplays that its cool to see people do all the mask quests but also makes the really cool final boss not get much screen time, and he balanced that perfectly haha

I'm not sure that I've ever seen someone, with infinite magic, deliberately choose to use normal arrows rather than light arrows while fighting Majora's Mask. This was wonderful.
This game is the shiniest relic of its time. Wildly experimental, it had no reason to be this weird and wild right after Ocarina did so well. At the time I believe people scoffed at it but its absolute boldness in pushing the genre’s envelope at the time makes it shine so much brighter as time goes on.
You nailed it. I honestly can't imagine it being made today. In many ways, it feels like an indie game, but made by one of the biggest names of the industry and using one of the most famous series.
due to crunch, they didn't have time to revise everything over and over liek they usually do, they just had to go for it, and honestly it paid off to make something they wouldn't have made otherwise. you can also just feel the anguish of the devs in this, aonuma was having nightmares due to crunch and you can certainly see it in the game. it's a gem.
My favorite comparison between MM and OoT is the endings. MM, despite being much darker in tone overall has a happier ending for more people. Other than Darmani, Mikau and the deli butler's son everyone lives. There's no bittersweet parting of all the friends we made along the way with the sages, and even the antagonist Skill Kid gets redeemed.
Tatls hints inadvertently forcing you to not cheese Majora with the Fierce Deity mask was hilarious. If you use the Fierce Deity mask to it's full effectiveness you can destroy Majora in under a minute. It's made a few playthroughs I've seen have very underwhelming endings lmao. Such a great playthrough man, this might be my favorite one I've watched! Thumbs up!!!
yeah, usually I have to actively remind myself NOT to cheese it if I went thru all the effort to earn the Fierce Deity in the first place. It’s an amazing reward but turns an awesome and tough fight into a real cakewalk.
Watching you play this game really brought me some joy. This is still my favorite Zelda game. Thanks for loving and appreciating it the way it was intended. I now have a void in my heart.

The Fierce Deity mask is given to you if you collect all the masks and give them to the kids. If you dont have all the masks you wont get it. That mask will obliterate bosses like Majora under seconds per phase. Its a gift for your dedication to the game and for helping everybody.
I hope he plays all of them, they're all amazing and i'm really curious how he'd react to some infamous bits. I'd probably suggest playing the 3D console games in release order tbh, there's enough content there to last a good while. Maybe a few handheld games if he feels like it, i don't think they'd be as popular but i'd personally watch it.
@@Comatose_Ratit had its share of game design issues, mostly in the middle chunk, but overall I had a lot of fun with it, especially in the switch release where motion controls actually worked and now that im old enough to realize bothering with the item upgrades is worth it haha
Couldn't be more excited for SS and WW, but Twilight Princess always seemed like it wasn't even a zelda game. So different. Left bad taste in mouth. I'd rather see our guy play the DS zelda games over TwilightP.
it's easy once you realise 1h later after trying that you need to not touch anything XD. it's the rite of passage fr. honestly mapo realised it so fast, first time i see someone notice you jsut need to let it go this fast
It's interesting, that, due to a bit of a graphics bug, you actually made the final boss a lot more interesting and challenging than it really needs to be. I don't think you realized that the fierce deity shots energy beams with each of its sword attacks (simply because your game didn't seem to emulate the visual effect for it properly), so you didn't really use the mask to its full potential and instead turned back to the much more difficult, but also arguably more satisfying, boss fight tactics instead. Still regardless this was one of the best runs of mjm that I've seen in quite some time. It's not often you see a blind player explore the game as thoroughly as you did. Kudos and I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of your material in the future (whether that be Zelda or not).
it didn't seem like the fierce deity had graphic bug, think mapo just didn't think and didn't realised z targetting with fierce deity shoots beam, on second phase the beam effects were all seemingly working fine when he attacked using z targetting a bit
@@KwehShiro kinda. the effects for the enemy being hit by the beam attack were displayed properly, however, you can clearly see that the animation for the beam itself is missing, so that's what's throwing him off (1:12:14). also, as @McBehrer already said, the beam activates on any attack while z-targeting, not just the stab attack. i can sorta understand that some people may misremember, since i know a lot of people have the habit of unconsciously automatically using the stab attack while z-targeting, so that's probably were the misinformation comes from.
Just having the cold MM boot intro to kick this off was a great choice, I doubt this will ever be dethroned from #1 on my list of fave Zelda games. Thanks for the best of playthroughs!

I was worried at first but I'm so happy you didn't figure out just how overpowered the fierce deity mask was so that you could face majora the proper way for the first time instead of stomping him to the ground.
The Fierce Deity Mask was actually always originally intended to be the Adult Link Mask. But during development, the game designers realized that they had unintentionally given Child Link almost all of Adult Link's major abilities and advantages such horse riding, using the hookshoot, bow and arrows, along with everything else that there wasn't much advantage to having adult link. So they just decided at the last minute to create the Fierce Deity Mask as the player's reward for going all out and collecting all of the masks within the game.
Actually, the story is a bit more convoluted. There was always going to be _a_ Fierce Deity's Mask, but it's functions were not fully defined, but among the ones considered were indeed making Link an adult but also a giant. In the end at some point in development those functions were split into the Giant's and Fierce Deity's as we know them, and even then their functionalities were relegated to specific rooms, likely because of how much more dev time they'd need to be implemented in the overworld in between collision mapping and meaningful content and all that jazz.
@@LowerBlack64 Interesting , as I did mention about the Giant's Mask functionality and how I heard that they wanted the mask to be to be used anywhere but was forced to be restricted to the boss room due to time constraints in the Stone Tower Twinmold video. I didn't know about that specifically though. But I do remember them hinting that Fierce Deity Link is Gigantic as he is significantly taller than regular Adult Link. Makes more sense now.

Thanks for all the time stamps. I will definitely watch any future Zelda playthrough on this channel. It's a shame that the Oracle games don't get requested as they are better 2d games IMO than LTTP/Awakening. And those are the games that followed Majora's Mask. BUT Wind Waker is the absolute GOAT so I couldn't be disappointed with that.

I still can't get over this game. The only thing more impressive than its deviation from Ocarina of Time, is how flawlessly it pulled off that radical shift. I booted up the game recently, for the first time in about six or seven years, just to reminisce for an hour or so. It wasn't until right before Stone Tower Temple that I snapped out of it and realised I had been accidentally 100% completing the entire game, and off of memory no less. This is easily the playthrough of yours I've commented on the most, and at times I sound like a broken record, but I can't help it. This game is incredible, and I adore it. Even with that in mind, take your time with the series. You can get to Wind Waker, or even some of the 2D games, whenever you want. Savour it, because despite being the blueprint for countless adventure games that followed them, the Zelda series is still truly unique.
What a fantastic series this has been, it's been a long time since I've seen someone GET how the game expects you to explore as much of the world as you can, to interact and get lost in the lives of these people, to think outside the box and get all of the masks on your own. Majora's Mask is in my top 3 games of all time, it's by far my favorite Zelda and a very formative game for me in that it truly made me appreciate game stories and game design. There's no game like it, that feels this caring for the NPCs, that does this time loop mechanic to its maximum, and that is so bonkers in its lack of explanation that it all just works somehow. The Final Hours (and by extension the ending) is one of my favorite parts in gaming period. The music is one of the very best, the bell tolls and earthquakes making the impeding doom all the more opressing, only for the sunrise to eventually come, and it's a tragic view considering the world's about to end, and a certain couple is waiting for it together. The inside of the Moon is also amazing, the sheer contrast to the chaos of the outside is one of my favorite images in any game, just because it so surreal. The questions the Mask Salesman looking kids ask, the tree, the Fierce Deity's Mask... wow. I can't explain what it all does to me with just words. In the end, thank you Mapo, been watching you since the OoT series began and I'm so happy you gave MM a chance and that it became your favorite. I experienced these 2 games as my intro to Zelda and every time I wonder if MM still holds up like I think it does, someone else plays it for the first time and I get to feel so much of what I felt before, and yes, this game is still as amazing as ever. Oh and if you want to know what Zeldas to play, Twilight Princess is my pick, my 2nd favorite Zelda, even with the uneven pacing, but it has probably my favorite character in the franchise, and the dungeons are as good as ever there

Today on things I didn't notice about MM: That you can use the spin attack to make Majora's Mask fall during its fight. This was another great playthrough. For almost 20 years MM was my favorite game (beaten out only barely by Outer Wilds+Echoes of the Eye) and it's a game where the older I've gotten the more I've appreciated its mood, themes, and atmosphere. I love it dearly, and this playthrough delivered on helping me recapture some of what it was like to play through for the first time. Here's some extra tidbits. I don't know if it's there in the OG version but the mayor's residence looked like it had a picture of the moon-tree in the hall. There's a mini-boss gauntlet hidden in Ikana. It only gives you a heart piece (or maybe 4, it's been a while), but that was the first time I realized how much I like having on-demand boss refights. There's a deku flower in Majora's boss room in the center. It looks totally different than the normal ones so it blends in and most people overlook it, but it's fun that it's there. The Fierce Deity Mask shoots magic projectiles while you're locked on and swinging the sword. You can do a spin attack with the Great Fairy's Sword and it has massive range. There's some interesting interactions in the final 6 hours. They're all small character things, but it's crazy to me just how much attention to detail this game has. Anyway, this was great to watch, I'm looking forward to the next LP. One fun thing to do if you ever come back to MM is try and do a cycle where you see how many people you can help out before you beat Majora. It's a fun routing challenge, plus it just feels right getting their scenes at the end because you actually did their sidequests during the cycle. - Also I highly recommend looking up the Stone Tower of Babel theory by Hylian Dan (Zeldadungeon still has the full thing). It's basically the MM equivalent to the (un)hinged Soulsborne lore theorists but it predates DeS by years, it's a fun read even though I don't take it seriously.
I don't think they had an adult Kafei model. They show you the wedding from his POV, which suggests he's now taller than Anju, but otherwise you don't see him. The fierce deity mask is super OP and makes every boss a joke. Remember Ghot? You can kill him in like 3 hits.
I remember having my first panic attack and running with anxiety as a child with this game. I remember playing the first time and not realizing that there was a literal time cycle and I just remember knowing that the moon was going to fall not knowing what the hell to do about it. And meanwhile I'm bawling my eyes out because everyone on the TV is going to die and my mom's like dude it's just a game. But I didn't want people to die and it also broke my heart every time you'd see Link die
this was an amazing playthrough, always so gratifying to see you paying attention to the details and really getting into the meat of the game. as a lot of comments are saying it really is impressive that you got all the masks and fierce diety on a first playthrough without a guide. looking forward to the next one!!
Casting my vote for Wind Waker as the next Zelda playthough as well, since it's my favorite Zelda. This was a great series, though. It's very rare to see anyone experiencing these games for the first time so long after they came out without having been spoiled already. It makes all of the weirdness of Majora's Mask hit even harder when it's completely unexpected and out of left field. Thanks for the series, and looking forward to the next one!
Aww, you really should experience the power of the Fierce Diety’s mask in that final fight! The Green button uses magic bar to shoot beams out of your swords dealing a ton of damage and also being ranged. You did it the hard way, which is equally as satisfying but in a different way. Even if off screen, you should treat yourself to facing Majora with FD mask and infinite mana.
This is bitter sweet... Great series though!. I HIGHLY reccomend Wind Waker in the near future. Its very up your alley since you like exploration. But Ive played most every Zelda and their all good in their own way!
Sad to see it end so soon it's been the highlight of my day watching this. i no there's like a million games on your list to play but I hope you keep something Nintendo themed on, there's so many classics you'd love.
It's funny you say that considering that The Great Sea is undeniably, and I would even say objectively the most empty and sparse overworld in the series in terms of exploration I've failed to finish WW on 3 separate occasions simply because I get so bored of traveling in a straight line for minutes on end doing nothing but putting the controller down
27:32 I always found this gossip stone to be funny. The stones on the moon are there to hint where the different masks are if you haven't found them but you can't see the hint for the Mask of Truth without the Mask of Truth. :P

You don't get the fierce dieties mask if u don't give up all your other masks. When ur locked on the swing from the fierce deities mask woulda shot an energy blast so you coulda ranged with it.
I didn't really understand what was going on at first, but then I saw another users comment here. It seems like Mapo actually had a visual glitch that was causing the energy beams not to render. He was shooting them, but he didn't even realize because they were invisible to him.

Such a great playthrough. Majoras will probably always be my favorite Zelda. If ever there was a Zelda title to 100%- MM would be the one. But this was such a great finale- and you accomplished so many of the important parts. Just sayin- I’d hazard a guess that a majority of this viewership wouldn’t be disappointed with a “bonus episode” or two like how you did with Ocarina. Still a lot of unique things to discover 😊

Glad you didn't abuse the final boss with the FD mask, nor rely on your strongest tools (no light arrows and only sparing use of the Great Fairy's Sword). Made the fight extra long and fulfilling, and you got a full appreciation for the forms and power of Majora's Mask (you even left the boss masks in there mostly haha). I'm half teasing, but I'm really glad you got the full effect of the fight!! This has been a fantastic series from start to finish. Thank you!!

The end credits do change depending on your mask and fairy progress! Instead of a cutscene showing the people happy it will show the mask you missed out on by skipping their sidequest!

Watching through these playthrough, I can't believe I actually beat this game back when it was released. It being a huge departure from what Ocarina of Time was. After Ocarina did turn me into a Zelda player. Loved the Fierce Deity Mask.
Yes, all these years later and I'm still disappointed every time that we never got to see adult Kafei. It's one of the only things about this game that feels like a loose end. That, and the fact that I have still never made up my mind whether the four giants' fringes are meant to be moustaches, beards, or grass skirts. 🙃This was an absolutely delightful playthrough from beginning to end. Thanks so much, I loved it and am looking forward to whichever Zelda you choose to do next!
In regards to the giants, per my headcanon, I imagine them more like a Colossus from Sotc, with more individual traits pertaining to their respective areas. Even names, based on those places, cause I was always sad that the Goddesses got names, but there’s just four copy pasted giants that look like a bearded mushroom on drumsticks. Odo’Lwa has the grass skirt, and driftwood legs and brackish water and moss dripping from its limbs. Sno-Hid is rocky and icy and volcanic, unrelenting and challenging. Grrt Ba is cloaked in corals and the tsunami and made of sand and fish bones, merciless. Ikana is Death itself, rotting carrion, demon fire and vultures legs, unyielding bones and crumbling sandstone, but the most peaceable and patient of them all. But that’s just me. 😊😅 And adult Kafei lives in my heart in another timeline ❤
Augh, i have such mixed feelings that this game is over, it's been such an experience, glad to of been here for it! I'm kind of glad you didn't realise the full potential of the FD's mask (that it can shoot sword beams), i've seen a few let's plays where they cream majora with it and complain that the final boss was too easy, not realising it's intentionally meant to be OP and a reward for collecting all the masks. my own preference for the next game would be wind waker, given it's status as a soft sequel to OoT/MM.

As someone who's never played any Zelda games and only got around to experiencing them through your playthroughs, I'm glad you plan to check other titles in the series. Damn, I got excited when you put on the Fierce Deity but I was like "Nooooo!" when you took it off lol. Fierce Deity can shoot energy beams when locked on a target and swinging your sword. It would've fucked Majora up real good lol. It makes it a quick fight. I didn't even know Majora did the Beyblade thing until now. 😂

As someone who missed out on the Zelda games growing up, this was an absolute delight to watch. I always appreciate the care you put into exploring and really taking your time with optional content. I feel like I got such a lovely, full experience.

They didn't want to model adult Kafei so we don't see him, but you can tell from Anju's eye line (she looks up at him) that he is indeed back to being an adult. Fingers crossed that A Link to the Past is next but I'll be there for any of them! Thank you for this playthrough, it was amazing!

I totally get wanting to explore the 2D Zeldas. They're also wonderful. ALttP was my first Zelda, and the remake of Link's Awakening is so adorable while being totally faithful to the original. My vote would go to you playing Twilight Princess next, since it follows this one, story-wise. Windwaker, while another fantastic 3D entry, is in an entirely different timeline XD Whatever you choose next, I'll be watching! :)

I'm not sure that I've ever seen someone, with infinite magic, deliberately choose to use normal arrows rather than light arrows while fighting Majora's Mask. This was wonderful.
This game is the shiniest relic of its time. Wildly experimental, it had no reason to be this weird and wild right after Ocarina did so well. At the time I believe people scoffed at it but its absolute boldness in pushing the genre’s envelope at the time makes it shine so much brighter as time goes on.
You nailed it. I honestly can't imagine it being made today. In many ways, it feels like an indie game, but made by one of the biggest names of the industry and using one of the most famous series.
due to crunch, they didn't have time to revise everything over and over liek they usually do, they just had to go for it, and honestly it paid off to make something they wouldn't have made otherwise. you can also just feel the anguish of the devs in this, aonuma was having nightmares due to crunch and you can certainly see it in the game. it's a gem.

My favorite comparison between MM and OoT is the endings. MM, despite being much darker in tone overall has a happier ending for more people. Other than Darmani, Mikau and the deli butler's son everyone lives. There's no bittersweet parting of all the friends we made along the way with the sages, and even the antagonist Skill Kid gets redeemed.
Tatls hints inadvertently forcing you to not cheese Majora with the Fierce Deity mask was hilarious. If you use the Fierce Deity mask to it's full effectiveness you can destroy Majora in under a minute. It's made a few playthroughs I've seen have very underwhelming endings lmao.

yeah, usually I have to actively remind myself NOT to cheese it if I went thru all the effort to earn the Fierce Deity in the first place. It’s an amazing reward but turns an awesome and tough fight into a real cakewalk.
Watching you play this game really brought me some joy. This is still my favorite Zelda game. Thanks for loving and appreciating it the way it was intended. I now have a void in my heart.

The Fierce Deity mask is given to you if you collect all the masks and give them to the kids. If you dont have all the masks you wont get it. That mask will obliterate bosses like Majora under seconds per phase. Its a gift for your dedication to the game and for helping everybody.

I actually never knew this before 😅. So I've always done it the hard way.
It's interesting, that, due to a bit of a graphics bug, you actually made the final boss a lot more interesting and challenging than it really needs to be. I don't think you realized that the fierce deity shots energy beams with each of its sword attacks (simply because your game didn't seem to emulate the visual effect for it properly), so you didn't really use the mask to its full potential and instead turned back to the much more difficult, but also arguably more satisfying, boss fight tactics instead.
Still regardless this was one of the best runs of mjm that I've seen in quite some time. It's not often you see a blind player explore the game as thoroughly as you did.
Kudos and I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of your material in the future (whether that be Zelda or not).
it didn't seem like the fierce deity had graphic bug, think mapo just didn't think and didn't realised z targetting with fierce deity shoots beam, on second phase the beam effects were all seemingly working fine when he attacked using z targetting a bit

@@KwehShiro kinda. the effects for the enemy being hit by the beam attack were displayed properly, however, you can clearly see that the animation for the beam itself is missing, so that's what's throwing him off (1:12:14).
also, as @McBehrer already said, the beam activates on any attack while z-targeting, not just the stab attack. i can sorta understand that some people may misremember, since i know a lot of people have the habit of unconsciously automatically using the stab attack while z-targeting, so that's probably were the misinformation comes from.
Just having the cold MM boot intro to kick this off was a great choice, I doubt this will ever be dethroned from #1 on my list of fave Zelda games. Thanks for the best of playthroughs!

I was worried at first but I'm so happy you didn't figure out just how overpowered the fierce deity mask was so that you could face majora the proper way for the first time instead of stomping him to the ground.
The Fierce Deity Mask was actually always originally intended to be the Adult Link Mask. But during development, the game designers realized that they had unintentionally given Child Link almost all of Adult Link's major abilities and advantages such horse riding, using the hookshoot, bow and arrows, along with everything else that there wasn't much advantage to having adult link. So they just decided at the last minute to create the Fierce Deity Mask as the player's reward for going all out and collecting all of the masks within the game.
Actually, the story is a bit more convoluted. There was always going to be _a_ Fierce Deity's Mask, but it's functions were not fully defined, but among the ones considered were indeed making Link an adult but also a giant. In the end at some point in development those functions were split into the Giant's and Fierce Deity's as we know them, and even then their functionalities were relegated to specific rooms, likely because of how much more dev time they'd need to be implemented in the overworld in between collision mapping and meaningful content and all that jazz.
@@LowerBlack64 Interesting , as I did mention about the Giant's Mask functionality and how I heard that they wanted the mask to be to be used anywhere but was forced to be restricted to the boss room due to time constraints in the Stone Tower Twinmold video. I didn't know about that specifically though. But I do remember them hinting that Fierce Deity Link is Gigantic as he is significantly taller than regular Adult Link. Makes more sense now.

I still can't get over this game. The only thing more impressive than its deviation from Ocarina of Time, is how flawlessly it pulled off that radical shift. I booted up the game recently, for the first time in about six or seven years, just to reminisce for an hour or so. It wasn't until right before Stone Tower Temple that I snapped out of it and realised I had been accidentally 100% completing the entire game, and off of memory no less.
This is easily the playthrough of yours I've commented on the most, and at times I sound like a broken record, but I can't help it. This game is incredible, and I adore it. Even with that in mind, take your time with the series. You can get to Wind Waker, or even some of the 2D games, whenever you want. Savour it, because despite being the blueprint for countless adventure games that followed them, the Zelda series is still truly unique.
What a fantastic series this has been, it's been a long time since I've seen someone GET how the game expects you to explore as much of the world as you can, to interact and get lost in the lives of these people, to think outside the box and get all of the masks on your own.
Majora's Mask is in my top 3 games of all time, it's by far my favorite Zelda and a very formative game for me in that it truly made me appreciate game stories and game design. There's no game like it, that feels this caring for the NPCs, that does this time loop mechanic to its maximum, and that is so bonkers in its lack of explanation that it all just works somehow.
The Final Hours (and by extension the ending) is one of my favorite parts in gaming period. The music is one of the very best, the bell tolls and earthquakes making the impeding doom all the more opressing, only for the sunrise to eventually come, and it's a tragic view considering the world's about to end, and a certain couple is waiting for it together. The inside of the Moon is also amazing, the sheer contrast to the chaos of the outside is one of my favorite images in any game, just because it so surreal. The questions the Mask Salesman looking kids ask, the tree, the Fierce Deity's Mask... wow. I can't explain what it all does to me with just words.
In the end, thank you Mapo, been watching you since the OoT series began and I'm so happy you gave MM a chance and that it became your favorite. I experienced these 2 games as my intro to Zelda and every time I wonder if MM still holds up like I think it does, someone else plays it for the first time and I get to feel so much of what I felt before, and yes, this game is still as amazing as ever.
Oh and if you want to know what Zeldas to play, Twilight Princess is my pick, my 2nd favorite Zelda, even with the uneven pacing, but it has probably my favorite character in the franchise, and the dungeons are as good as ever there

Today on things I didn't notice about MM: That you can use the spin attack to make Majora's Mask fall during its fight.
This was another great playthrough. For almost 20 years MM was my favorite game (beaten out only barely by Outer Wilds+Echoes of the Eye) and it's a game where the older I've gotten the more I've appreciated its mood, themes, and atmosphere. I love it dearly, and this playthrough delivered on helping me recapture some of what it was like to play through for the first time. Here's some extra tidbits.
I don't know if it's there in the OG version but the mayor's residence looked like it had a picture of the moon-tree in the hall.
There's a mini-boss gauntlet hidden in Ikana. It only gives you a heart piece (or maybe 4, it's been a while), but that was the first time I realized how much I like having on-demand boss refights.
There's a deku flower in Majora's boss room in the center. It looks totally different than the normal ones so it blends in and most people overlook it, but it's fun that it's there.
The Fierce Deity Mask shoots magic projectiles while you're locked on and swinging the sword.
You can do a spin attack with the Great Fairy's Sword and it has massive range.
There's some interesting interactions in the final 6 hours. They're all small character things, but it's crazy to me just how much attention to detail this game has.
Anyway, this was great to watch, I'm looking forward to the next LP. One fun thing to do if you ever come back to MM is try and do a cycle where you see how many people you can help out before you beat Majora. It's a fun routing challenge, plus it just feels right getting their scenes at the end because you actually did their sidequests during the cycle.

Also I highly recommend looking up the Stone Tower of Babel theory by Hylian Dan (Zeldadungeon still has the full thing). It's basically the MM equivalent to the (un)hinged Soulsborne lore theorists but it predates DeS by years, it's a fun read even though I don't take it seriously.
I don't think they had an adult Kafei model. They show you the wedding from his POV, which suggests he's now taller than Anju, but otherwise you don't see him.
The fierce deity mask is super OP and makes every boss a joke. Remember Ghot? You can kill him in like 3 hits.
I remember having my first panic attack and running with anxiety as a child with this game. I remember playing the first time and not realizing that there was a literal time cycle and I just remember knowing that the moon was going to fall not knowing what the hell to do about it. And meanwhile I'm bawling my eyes out because everyone on the TV is going to die and my mom's like dude it's just a game. But I didn't want people to die and it also broke my heart every time you'd see Link die

This was a great series, though. It's very rare to see anyone experiencing these games for the first time so long after they came out without having been spoiled already. It makes all of the weirdness of Majora's Mask hit even harder when it's completely unexpected and out of left field.

Aww, you really should experience the power of the Fierce Diety’s mask in that final fight! The Green button uses magic bar to shoot beams out of your swords dealing a ton of damage and also being ranged. You did it the hard way, which is equally as satisfying but in a different way. Even if off screen, you should treat yourself to facing Majora with FD mask and infinite mana.
This series was such a trip down memory lane for me, thanks for giving my childhood favourite a playthrough.

27:32 I always found this gossip stone to be funny. The stones on the moon are there to hint where the different masks are if you haven't found them but you can't see the hint for the Mask of Truth without the Mask of Truth. :P
Wind Waker should be next. The Zelda timeline is insane, but Wind Waker comes next.

I didn't really understand what was going on at first, but then I saw another users comment here. It seems like Mapo actually had a visual glitch that was causing the energy beams not to render. He was shooting them, but he didn't even realize because they were invisible to him.

Such a great playthrough. Majoras will probably always be my favorite Zelda. If ever there was a Zelda title to 100%- MM would be the one. But this was such a great finale- and you accomplished so many of the important parts.

Glad you didn't abuse the final boss with the FD mask, nor rely on your strongest tools (no light arrows and only sparing use of the Great Fairy's Sword). Made the fight extra long and fulfilling, and you got a full appreciation for the forms and power of Majora's Mask (you even left the boss masks in there mostly haha). I'm half teasing, but I'm really glad you got the full effect of the fight!! This has been a fantastic series from start to finish. Thank you!!

The end credits do change depending on your mask and fairy progress! Instead of a cutscene showing the people happy it will show the mask you missed out on by skipping their sidequest!

Watching through these playthrough, I can't believe I actually beat this game back when it was released. It being a huge departure from what Ocarina of Time was. After Ocarina did turn me into a Zelda player. Loved the Fierce Deity Mask.

They never say it, but im pretty sure the Salesman is the "somebody" who opened Stone Tower and took the mask from there, leaving the door open

Yes, all these years later and I'm still disappointed every time that we never got to see adult Kafei. It's one of the only things about this game that feels like a loose end. That, and the fact that I have still never made up my mind whether the four giants' fringes are meant to be moustaches, beards, or grass skirts. 🙃This was an absolutely delightful playthrough from beginning to end. Thanks so much, I loved it and am looking forward to whichever Zelda you choose to do next!
In regards to the giants, per my headcanon, I imagine them more like a Colossus from Sotc, with more individual traits pertaining to their respective areas. Even names, based on those places, cause I was always sad that the Goddesses got names, but there’s just four copy pasted giants that look like a bearded mushroom on drumsticks.
Odo’Lwa has the grass skirt, and driftwood legs and brackish water and moss dripping from its limbs. Sno-Hid is rocky and icy and volcanic, unrelenting and challenging. Grrt Ba is cloaked in corals and the tsunami and made of sand and fish bones, merciless. Ikana is Death itself, rotting carrion, demon fire and vultures legs, unyielding bones and crumbling sandstone, but the most peaceable and patient of them all.
But that’s just me. 😊😅
And adult Kafei lives in my heart in another timeline ❤

I'm kind of glad you didn't realise the full potential of the FD's mask (that it can shoot sword beams), i've seen a few let's plays where they cream majora with it and complain that the final boss was too easy, not realising it's intentionally meant to be OP and a reward for collecting all the masks.
my own preference for the next game would be wind waker, given it's status as a soft sequel to OoT/MM.

Damn, I got excited when you put on the Fierce Deity but I was like "Nooooo!" when you took it off lol. Fierce Deity can shoot energy beams when locked on a target and swinging your sword. It would've fucked Majora up real good lol. It makes it a quick fight. I didn't even know Majora did the Beyblade thing until now. 😂

As someone who missed out on the Zelda games growing up, this was an absolute delight to watch. I always appreciate the care you put into exploring and really taking your time with optional content. I feel like I got such a lovely, full experience.

I can't believe we are already at the end! ;-; It's been fun watching you figure out this game's rhythm and stories. Only bright side is this means we are one step closer to the next Zelda game!
They didn't want to model adult Kafei so we don't see him, but you can tell from Anju's eye line (she looks up at him) that he is indeed back to being an adult.
Fingers crossed that A Link to the Past is next but I'll be there for any of them! Thank you for this playthrough, it was amazing!

Thank you so much for sharing this journey, it has been magical. Glad we got a real fight for the final boss, to be honest. As cool and OP as Fierce Deity Link is it also trivializes Majora, to the point you can't call it a fight at all. Really excited to see where we're going next!

No adult Kafei because of the time crunch! They didn't make an adult model! So they finagled it to where you could see the wedding but Kafei was conveniently blocked.
Congratulations on beating the game, and with all the masks, too! Your reactions and insights are always delightful, and yes, those existential questions at the end can get to you, lmao. Your LPs are my favorite and I hopped on every release of this since it's one of, if not THE, best experience I ever had with a game. Majora's Mask is truly something special.
I totally get wanting to explore the 2D Zeldas. They're also wonderful. ALttP was my first Zelda, and the remake of Link's Awakening is so adorable while being totally faithful to the original. My vote would go to you playing Twilight Princess next, since it follows this one, story-wise. Windwaker, while another fantastic 3D entry, is in an entirely different timeline XD
