    What a lifesaver, thank you for the detailed tutorial. I successfully migrated all users from a 2008 Server to Azure following your direction. Can't thank you enough!!

    It seemed to be a good video but I hate being distracted by those background music and just left before the end. Thanks for your efforts in making it though.

    This is not migration, it is ad sync to use with sso. Migration means moving one place to another. That’s means dismantling on premise DC after ad sync. Is that possible…??

    This has nothing to do with on-prem bud you created the domain controller in the cloud. If this were on-premise this would be a server hosted locally on your network. Did a great job but misleading for some folks. This is not a migration either it’s synchronizing Active Directory to the cloud - M365. Your not migrating anything… unless you stop syncing objects (AD user) then they would be strictly cloud user. Also explain more about each step. Are you using password hash synchronization, syncing all OU’s in forest, write back, etc? Hope we see more updated content with additional details.

      Absolutely correct. Misleading video. I was hoping for the AD to be available on prem and then the migration to be done on Azure cloud AD services.

      Folks. migration from local ad to Azure Ad called hybrid migration or sync.
      try to replicate the steps on your local ad should be the same if you faced any errors will be glad if you share it

    What is the cost of to move on premise domain controller to Azure AD?

  • @MRJUDGE14
    @MRJUDGE14 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very helpful, thank you. if i decide to delete the domain controller, will the users still be there on Azure Active Directory?

    • @azuregossip7233
      @azuregossip7233  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, just try that , because users are already migrated to Azure Cloud Directory which is all separate now from domain controller on premise host

    @ 21:48 you're directly logged in, but I have to enter another sign in for my account, that's where I get stuck. after entering the global admin credentials, I get re-directed to enter another credential

    • @azuregossip7233
      @azuregossip7233  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try login another session in incognito mode, and for AD user migration configuration , pass the credentials that has global admin role

  • @saifahm1

    You headlined it as On premise, which means AD servers laying on a remote site and not within Azure environment! will it be the same process?

      I think it must be. He's just created a standard domain. Only difference is it's an MS Virtual server.

    Do not setup AD DS in an Azure VM like this, you need to separate your NTDS/SYSVOL on an extra disk with hosting caching disabled, otherwise you can corrupt your AD database.
    “Create a separate virtual data disk for storing the database, logs, and sysvol folder for Active Directory. Do not store these items on the same disk as the operating system. By default, data disks that are attached to a VM use write-through caching. However, this form of caching can conflict with the requirements of AD DS. For this reason, set the Host Cache Preference setting on the data disk to None.”

    This doesn't really explain anything. This sets up Azure AD connect. How are you joining the PCs to Azure AD and disconnecting them from the domain? This doesn't accomplish that. This is only halfway complete.

    not really a migration its hybrid setup. I was expecting a existing AD migrated to Azure cloud only. no-prem AD.

      exactly. I don't know what he's talking about. He just setup AD Hybrid. Now all the computers are still pointing to the domain controller.

    This is not a migration! Migration means to decom the On-Prem AD servers and only utilize EntraID.

  • @abe6215

      Migration to Azure Ad on most cases called Sync or hybrid migration.
